Party planning was going well, at least well enough that Joy could no longer have any excuse not to bite the bullet and deal with her embarrassment. She was going to have to see him eventually, and it didn't seem to Joy that Clyde considered what happened between the two of them was important. So there was that silver lining.
Even if it had been something of a big deal to her. But so what? That was her lot in life and she was just going to have to deal. She planned on just sending him a message about the party but ended up running into Clyde in the halls.

Clyde was chillen. His life had fallen into a grind and he wasn't sure how he felt about that. Routine didn't agree with him, but the last time something exciting hat happened, it involved being stuck on an island for who knew how long. Not that that was any different than now. He was more than happy to see the elusive Joy. She had been avoiding him. But he was going to pretend he hadn't noticed. "Hey Joy. How's it going?" he assumed that she had greeted him.

Phone still in hand, Joy easily channeled her usual cheerful friendliness. Yeah, she could do this! She could pretend the awkwardness of that night was behind them both! Even if the evident lack of it from Clyde stung a little.
"Oh you know, busy with stuff. You met Seren, I hear?"

"Oh yeah, we met up in the gym. I tried to teach her how to flex her muscles." he winked and flexed at her. "But she had a trainer in mind already. She didn't want to deviate from her plan."

The wide, knowing grin on Joy's face came naturally when Clyde brought up the trainer Seren had in mind. "Mmhmmm, I'm sure she wouldn't and I'm sure he wouldn't want her to either. Which reminds me, we got a party planned at the flat I'm sharing with Kai. You're invited. It's nothing big, just a couple of us celebrating Kim doing a Lazarus." she explained, glad for the emotional distraction.

Clyde laughed. He suspected that perhaps it was more then routine that she didn't want messed up. Joy just confirmed it. It was good to have her talking to him again. "Hey I'm always for a party. A Lazarus? What did she come back from the dead?"

She nodded, "Yeah! She, like, died when we went to Atlantis to get 'em to stop trying to drown us and attack us with all those water golems. Although it was more of Creation ******** with us even more," she made a face. "But on the plus side, those who participated in the mission, even just to whack at the giant-a** water golem until it died, got a huge cash bonus."

"Oh man, I missed that party!" the woes of being always on building duty. It was hard to pull away sometimes. (then again, knowing the s**t that they got into, maybe he really didn't miss much.)
"Wait what? Cash bonus?" he frowned and stared at her and then looked away, arms crossed and pouting. "I was not invited." his lower lip stuck out just so.

"Yeah, like, a five thou bonus. I heard even those who just showed up to help beat down the water golem stopping us from getting into the waters got the bonus." Maybe Joy was rubbing it in at this point, maybe she was just being extra detailed, maybe she was doing a little bit of both.
"Most of my money's going to Kai's studio and whatever we have left is to fancify the flat's kitchen. And, well, just so we're clear that we're both cool about, y'know that night, you're welcome to drop by for coffee," her eyes were strangely evasive for someone claiming to be cool about the issue.

She was totally rubbing it in. Clyde looked as hurt as he could. (Which to be honest wasn't very. Sure having an extra 5,000 was nice, but really the island provided for his basic needs and Clyde was more the wandering type than the needed money type. he's just spend it all in one place.)
"You know if you need someone to work for you, on like building anything.... coughhiremecough." He 'coughed' into his hand.
"Is that coffee, or maybe something more?" he winked at her. "Cause you know, now that you are fully aware of things, I'd be happy to provide friends with benefits." he reached and arm up and flex, pulling out the gun show.

The fake!coughing had Joy laughing, "That's for Kai to decide, but hey, if you're good with kitchen cabinets and know where we can get tempered glass, oh and making an island too, with really deep sinks," she sighed wistfully, fantasizing about her dream kitchen with the same look of longing she had when thinking about new pairs of shoes.
The offer of friends with benefits however got a more wry chuckle, "Sorry p're, it's not that you're not papa-ble material, because to someone okay with you not being exclusive you are mos def papa-ble, but I don't think I can ******** without alcohol being involved. It just... makes me more relaxed about it."
Sure she could joke and tease and read the fun bits in a romance novel out loud complete with matching sound effects but that was just it. Fun. Nothing serious. It wouldn't lead to anything and that was all twenty-something years worth of repression would allow her to actively partake of.

"I'm moon, I will find out where to get those things. It might cost more than you got for all of that, but one thing at a time." he made a few calculations. There was a pause and he stared her down. "I say this as your friend, but, the first time with a person shouldn't be done drunk. that's when people get hurt. I mean, if you agree before hand and have a a beer or two, that's one thing. But it's entirely another to agree when you are unable to walk. Joy, I would be more than happy to show you a good time, but there is no point if you can't even remember half of it afterwards. I know, I've been there and gotten into that s**t storm before. It doesn't end well." he sighed. He had a sneaking suspicion that she was definitely a virgin. "Have you even had sex before?"Maybe the hall way wasn't the best place to have this conversation. But there was never a good place or time for this kind of conversation.

Maybe narrative convention expected Joy to blush and stammer at the question, but instead she squared her shoulders back, unflinching at Clyde's intensity and concern. Her hands on her hips, she stared right back at him, "I've read enough Judith McNaught, Jude Deveraux, Harlequinn, and local pockets books to know what to expect. And my barkada's shared more than enough stories beyond TMI levels," she retorted.
Which actually didn't answer his question.

That... explained everything. "Joy." he laughed, amused. "Sex is not like in a romance novel. The first time will hurt. There will probably be blood. It's sticky, and sometimes the guy can't get it up." he tugged her off to a corner. "Plus that the packets won't tell you is that there is usually farting and missing." he grinned and nudged her shoulder. "It's fun, but awkward as hell. No one is good at it the first time. Or even the 100th time."

Unfortunately, Clyde was pushing Joy even deeper into that mind set. She did not look amused and was practically scowling, "You're not making it sound fun. You're making it sound more like I need to be drunk to convince myself to want sex."
