Prompt Walking anywhere at night can be risky in Destiny City, but tonight it’s not being attacked by some punk in a strange outfit. The squeaking above you is a dead giveaway that you’re not going to have a good night. Perhaps you remember the flock of bats that swarmed down on Destiny City last year; if you’re lucky, this is your first time being attacked by one. Thankfully it seems like a lone bat has made its way out of whatever cave they’ve moved from, but this thing is giant. It has a six foot wingspan. Does the bat fly away without harassing you? Do you fight it? If it scratches you, you walk away fine, but if it bites you then you can expect a rough time. Being bitten by these bats leaves two small marks that will itch for a few hours. Then, exhaustion and fatigue sets in and you become extremely sensitive to external stimulus; skin feels like it becomes overheated in sunlight, bright lights are painful to the eyes, and smells and sounds can seem overwhelming. The victim will feel constantly cold and hungry, no matter how much they eat or drink. They may also be prone to agitation and bouts of violence. These afflictions may last only a few hours or a few days and then suddenly disappear. Bluebell was enjoying the fresh air on her way back to her dorm. October was a month full of fun events around town. As it just so happened, that evening there had been a screening of Rocky Horror Picture Show in one of the amphitheater's in one of Destiny City's many parks. She had attended the event with some friends and was dressed up as Magenta, the mysterious maid of the manor. They had split up after the event was over though, her friend had wanted to continue their night of fun with a movie and she wanted to go end the night with some netflix before heading to bed. Perhaps she was distracted by the sound of her heels against the pavement, but she heard the squeaks from above far too late. It was easy to assume it was just the sound of a car somewhere as well, but when she finally got a clue that it was something more sinister than that and looked up it was a second too late. She screamed, who wouldn't scream in her situation. She dropped to her knees because it was the only way for her to avoid the claws that swooped down on her. Of all days for her to be in heels, normally her shoes were so sensible, she would be wearing them during a giant bat attack. It flew over her head and down the street. She watched as it did a slow turn and started to make it's way back. Oh god, was it really going to chase her? What had she done? There was no time to ditch the shoes, the thing was so darn fast and her shoes had laces up the front that would have to be undone. She turned around as quickly as she could and started to run down the street, She dug her phone out of her purse as she ran, who did she even call in this situation? Animal control? The Cops? An ambulance to pick up her mangled body when the thing was done with her? Her hands were shaking though and it slipped out of her hands and hit the pavement hard. She heard the sound of the screen breaking, stupid iPhones. <********!" No time to turn around for that, maybe she could lose it in an alley? There was was one coming up, but she could tell without even looking that it was close to swooping down on her again. The feeling of the air being pushed down on her from the flapping of it wings gave it away. She pulled her purse over her shoulder and spun around, flinging it out as she did. It did hit the bat, but it didn't slow it down at all and in fact seemed to really piss it off. It managed to scratch her arm before she could duck out of the way and bolt back down the street. Please, let her phone be okay. She did not want to keep playing 'keep away' with this bat...

She remembered the giant bats from last year. That they were back, and this time with spider friend, had her more than a bit concerned. Not to mention immensely questioning where they were all coming from. Did they even get an answer to that last time?
Since when did they get answers to anything?
Heels hit the sidewalk as she ran, breaths coming in quick puffs. Cassiopeia had been on patrol, nervous with the season inching towards trouble with Halloween--it was a pattern after all--when the trickle of unease wriggled into her supernatural sense. Something wrong was out and about, and following it had lead rather rapidly to the unfortunate answer. Bat. Giant bat.
The scream was enough to have the senshi picking up the pace, pulse amping up now that she was aware that the bat was actually going after someone. She grit her teeth and pressed forward. Just need to get into range...
...why was that girl dressed like a maid? What was with all the Halloween costumes like that?
"Keep going!" As the girl in the maid costume kept going down the road, the girl in the sparkly, barely concealing uniform went towards the giant bat that was swooping and chittering angrily above their heads--especially after being hit with a purse of all things.
"Shimmering awe!" Holding her hands before her chest, Cassiopeia paused in her running, energy collecting between her slightly curved fingers. It condensed and shifted, forming a large orb around a foot in diameter between her slowly parting hands. On its own, the orb of unknown material began to rise two feet above her, the bat screeching as it seemed perplexed by its appearance.
At no point did the orb stop changing or morphing--fairy lights hovering in the air, into a galaxy slowly swirling on itself, into unfathomable glimpses of alien worlds, to lights swirling and dancing and vanishing and forming from nothing... The bat began to swoop around the lights, transfixed, and Cassiopeia took the small time to glance back at the girl. "It won't be distracted for long, please keep going, get out of here! I can handle this." Hoping she sounded convincing, she offered what she intended to be a bright, not-a-problem smile.
--- But nothing was ever as simple as just slipping away into safety and letting magical people take out weird creatures, now was it?
Charms and chains tinkled and jingled like bells as the large feline padded her way along the sidewalk. It wasn't just the sense of wrong that had her fur bristling, it was the... call? If there was a proper term for it, Réalta had yet to hear it, had yet to formulate it in her mind or in that instinct that told her all she seemed to really need to know to conduct herself as a guardian. It was a call. A lure. A come forth and aid. It excited her, delighted her, and she could have smiled and purred if not for how the sense of come felt so close to the sense of wrong.
The streets were her home, and the lilac Savannah cat didn't waver in her path, crossing the portion of the city she'd been patrolling after spending a bit of time with Metis. A second senshi she was familiar with, Cassiopeia, lit her line of sight with her magic, and the guardian felt a puff of pride. But she wasn't the source of the here please! that Réalta was so drawn to.
Her large ears perked, iridescent eyes focusing on the small girl in the costume... one with an injury on her arm. Réalta began to yowl and hiss at the bat, even momentarily distracted as it was, moving quickly towards the second, unpowered girl. "Are you well, pet?" An accent lit her words, one that grew heavier as she hissed again at the bat, "Vile thing, I am quite fond of normal bats, och but this is entirely unnecessary."
Cassiopeia seemed to be startled to realize the guardian was there, whom in turn gave a small, delicate snort. "You are more than capable of handling yourself well enough, for now, sweetie, but I would hardly be much of a guardian if I did not to aid you two."

Bluebell had her eyes on her phone on the sidewalk, so she was delayed in her notice of the stranger that came to her aid. When she heard the voice to keep going she looked up to see what she first assumed was someone in a strange Halloween costume. Had she just come from some sort of party? Well, whoever they were she was not going to ignore her plea. So, she ran past the girl and scooped up her phone. The sudden light from behind her caused her to pause and turn around.
No one would blame her for being distracted by that. Of all things, she didn't expect someone with magic to come to her aid. Everyone had heard the rumors about strange people in strange costumes wandering around at night, a part of her had always believed in them, but to actually see it was different. The orb of light really was beautiful and it was doing a fine job of distracting that thing in the air.
The girl was talking to her again though and Bluebell moved her eyes from the orb in the air and back down to the girl. Should she keep running? It seemed a little unfair to just ditch her problem on someone else. "Maybe, I could help?" The words were no sooner out of her mouth when she heard someone else speaking. At first she looked to her side and expect another person to be there, but when she looked down there was a cat instead. A very pretty cat, but one that had just talked to her.
"I'm...fine?" It came out like a question, only because she was trying to process so many new things at once. Giants bats, magic, and now a talking cat. The day was full of so many new surprises, some of which she had definitely not been happy to discover. The pretty kitty continued to talk as well, addressing the other girl who had stepped in to aid her. She called herself a guardian, but Bluebell honestly had no idea how a cat was supposed to help them fight a giant bat. She wasn't going to insult the poor thing though, what right did she have to do that.
