While making your way through Destiny City, you wind up taking a path you’ve never taken before. Maybe you’re following directions, maybe you got lost, maybe you were just looking for a shortcut—things were going good, until you wind up needing to pass through a graveyard. It seems normal enough—until you pass by a grave and get powerful chill down your spine. When you stop and look at it, you see the gravestone has your name; beneath it, your birthday and today’s date. If you leave and return, the gravestone remains, but the name and dates look like they’ve been clawed off.

Caliban whirled his head as he looked around the street that he was on, thinking that he had seen something. For some reason down this street the lights had been turned off and so Caliban only had moonlight to be able to see anything. When he looked, he saw nothing and sighed. Ever since October started weird things had been happening around Destiny City. He could only assume that maybe the plane between Earth and the Negaverse was weaker at this time of the year, but it was only speculation. After all, he had nothing to confirm it, and had only run into youma so far, no agents.

It was both a good and bad thing, the good being that he finally had something to do while powered again, but bad because, of course, that meant more youma fighting, something he wasn't a fan of but knew he had to do. And so tonight he had been on patrol for a bit to see if he could find any and dust them. He wondered however if he had made a mistake. Lately the nights were getting colder, as it was fall, and while his senshi outfit was quite warm, it didn't keep him so warm to not feel any cold, and so he had had to keep moving if he didn't want to start shivering.

Tonight though he could have sworn he kept seeing things, though that could have been due to the fog that now seemed to hang around the city like a permanent blanket that made him feel like he was hallucinating all the time now. He shook his head, trying to get himself together again. Come on Caliban, let's stay focused! He thought as he continued to walk down the street. At least with the lights off he was less likely to be spotted by a civilian.

Mahogany had not done anything differently on his way home that day. It had been a routine walk out to get a decaf latte before he went to bed and then another routine walk back home. He hadn't even had his phone out nor had he been daydreaming. There was literally no reason for anything to be happening that was out of the ordinary. That was why, when Mahogany turned a corner and was not met with a familiar row of buildings but instead was faced with an entirely new set of facades, he stopped and took careful account of the situation. There was a long silent moment where he stood, brows knitted into a tight, irritated line above his eyes, before he muttered, "******** this city," and went about his way.

Mahogany pulled out his phone and woke the screen up. No biggie. He was a connected and social youth. All he had to do was open up the maps app and make his way home. Oh, or a taxi app to hire some wheels to get him home. That sounded like a way better idea. After all, this was a decaf late and it was time for him to be getting to bed. Didn't want to end up with unsightly circles under his eyes. He tired the maps app first, thinking that he couldn't be far. The buildings didn't look too different from the buildings by where he lived. The only issue was that when he punched the maps app, a game opened up. He closed it out with an irritated huff and tried again. That same game opened. Again, Mahogany closed the game out and tried again. Same ******** this city."

He tried the taxi app instead. Only to have his calendar open up instead. He didn't even bother to try again. He knew what would happen, and he knew why. It was this ******** city with it's ******** terror attacks and it's weird a** issues and everything that was wrong with ********. This. City," Mahogany grumbled, shoving his phone back into his pocket and continuing in his merry way. At least there was a moon out that was bright enough to see by. At least he wasn't flying blind. In the end, however, it was little comfort when set up against the fact that Mahogany had no idea where he was, where he was going, or which way he should turn to get home again. It wasn't fear that bubbled up in his chest as he wandered, but something more like frustration, but more frantic. And not panic. Something else. Mahogany didn't have a name for it, but he felt it. It was like something fluttered up to the top of his throat and made it difficult to breathe through the sensation of it's wings. Like the feeling of trying to pull a shirt over wet skin.

Mahogany walked faster with the feeling of it. He turned corners more sharply. Eventually the world had to make sense again. Something had to happen. Or else he would wander until morning and when the world woke up he could get help. So he walked and turned. Walked and turn. He walked and turned with a final, fed-up growl right into a small cemetery. Mahogany blinked several times before he ignored every lesson that he'd learned from watching horror movies and entered the graveyard. He didn't notice the way the wind died down when he entered, nor did he notice the way the night fell silent and the stars blinked out above him. He only saw one large, pristine tombstone sitting int he center of ruined marble, jutting out of the ground like a maw of broken teeth. He was drawn to the marker, pulled by a chord he could not see to cut.

It wasn't until he was standing before the stone that he realized why.

Beloved Son and Brother

Mahogany wasn't sure when he'd started screaming.

Caliban had been about to turn around when he heard a scream. It was quite high-pitched and he didn't know who or what it was coming from, but he immediately ran in the direction he thought he was hearing it from, hoping that the buildings around him didn't make it echo. For some reason though, it seemed to be crystal clear.

He ran towards the source, no longer recognizing this part of the city, wondering if he was just remembering wrong, if the fog was doing anything, or if there was some sort of hallucinogen in the air, either way, this was now unfamiliar territory and he would have to be careful. Soon enough he found himself at a graveyard, where he could tell that the source of the screaming was.

As quickly as he dared, he jogged into the cemetary, following the voice and soon enough came upon a young man who was screaming. Caliban wanted to ask what was going on, since there didn't seem to be any sort of youma or agent attack going on, until he looked at the gravestone in front of the young man.

The gravestone read:
Derrick Keenan 2017
Oldest Brother

Caliban felt a chill down his spine. Somehow this gravestone had his name on it and today's date. He tried to reason with his brain that it meant nothing, after all, unless it knew he would die of natural causes overnight, he didn't believe that they would be dying in this new, weird, came out of nowhere cemetary. He tried to gather his wits and turned to the young man, putting his hand on one of the guy's shoulders. "You have to snap out of it! I know it's scary but we need to get out of here first!"
