 It was a nice, crisp morning, the sun just starting to peak out in the sky. The brown lioness had her head stretched upwards, sniffing the cool air and enjoying the salty smell on the breeze. This place never got old to her, and she was relieved that she'd found it. The beautiful weather, the cheerful pridemates, the friendships she was making.... It was home now.
Though there were certain things that made it even better. And on that note, where was he? They were going to meet up this morning to walk along the beach, maybe catch a fish or two, and Anya was looking forward to it. He always left her with a fluttery feeling in her paws, one that she was quickly identifying but hadn't quite said aloud yet. She could tell that it wasn't one-sided though... or at least, it certainly didn't feel like it. She didn't say anything about it though, not wanting to make him uncomfortable, and chose instead to wait for him to make a move first.
And in the meantime, she got to enjoy his company.
Humming a soft tune to herself, Anya went back to basking in the morning rays and gentle breeze. She was always told that she had a beautiful singing voice, but never really went out of her way to show it off. Instead, she would quietly enjoy it in moderation. She kept an ear out though, in the hopes that she would hear him coming before he got here.

 He was panicking, just a little. He had decided that today was in fact, the day. They had, pretty much as always, promised to meet in the morning and go fishing together. Of course that was just a pre-requisite to getting her alone. For pretty much the whole week he had been trying to tell Anya how he felt. He had chickened out every time though and he felt so, so very guilty about that. He loved Anya.
The first time he had, had this thought he had almost died. He had seen her home and as she flashed him a smile his heart had jumped in to his throat and for the first time in his like the chubby chatty lion had felt tongue tied. So tongue tied that he had barely been able to squeak a goodnight.
Somehow he had managed to bite his tongue for more than a week now though as he had gone through preparations. Every night he’d crafted away at the things he had procured. What he had made, it wasn’t nearly as beautiful as Anya, or even as lovely as her own jewellery but he hoped she would accept it.
He heard her voice before he saw her and he paused for a long moment to listen to her serenade. Her voice was so beautiful, like a song bird breaking through the clouds of his mind. Today was the day. Today he would tell Anya he loved her and ask her to be his wife. He felt the flush rise on his face and shook his head in embarrassment, taking a deep breath the silver male rounded the den and beamed “Good morning Anya.” He sighed admiring her in the morning sunlight.

She perked up as the silver male approached, tail immediately flicking up with a cheerful twist. There he was! Anya gave a bashful grin back at him, a little embarrassed that he may have heard her humming, but brushed the feeling aside to greet him. "Good morning!" Again, she felt the excited little flutter, and it made her jump to her paws with a happy wiggle. "Of course, it's even better now that you're here."
Trotting closer to him, she nudged at his mane and then hopped away. She loved how soft, both in feel and color, his mane was, and she liked nosing at it whenever she ran into him. Sometimes she wondered what it would be like to fall asleep on it, but that wasn't really something she could ask him. Perhaps someday.
Moving her thoughts back to the topic at hand, she turned in the direction of the beach. "Are you ready to head out?" She wanted to see what they would catch today. As a huntress, she was always interested in the different kinds of prey she could find, and fish was one she wasn't used to catching. It was delicious though!

The silver male smiled. He almost, very almost asked her there and then, her nose in his mane made his smile broaden, but he had a plan. “I missed you..” He paused for a moment and a flush rose on his cheeks. Sometimes when he was around Anya he couldn’t help but blurt things out. He wasn’t sure he was going to be able to hold his tongue. They had to get going.
“Yeh, I’m ready, I uh, I found some place good for us to go fishing today.” He grins and filters his toes through the sand. “If thats okay with you?” The chubby silver lion tilted his head. “I promise we’ll get something good.”

His words had her letting out a giggle, giddy at the thought that he was just as eager to see her as she was to see him, before nodding. Somewhere new, huh? That sounded like a fun adventure. She was sure that she would enjoy wherever they went, but a place he wanted to show her was even better.
She wondered what they would catch too. Somewhere new had the potential for something new as well, and she had to admit, she had a feeling that something new would happen today. And she was looking forward to seeing what it was.
"Of course it is! I'd love to see what you found." With a happy trot back to his side, Anya purred, "Lead the way."

The coral maned male grinned broadly and pressing his shoulder against hers he nudged her towards the jungle. It had seemed so very fitting to him that he would ask this most important of questions int he place where they had first met. The place that he had first seen Anya being a beautiful water nymph. The jungle above the beach line was quiet, or it felt really quiet, he guessed that his ears had actually stopped working as he lead Anya through the tree line in to the dappled shadows.
Yep, his ears had stopped working. He felt for the first time ever that he didn’t really know what to say, he knew what he wanted to say but small talk seemed so small, he usually rambled on about every little thing to Anya, almost he knew, as if he was a child spouting the nonsense of the day to the laser he adored, he could feel the silence though and he desperately wanted to break it but the words failed him.
Grasping at straws the silver lion took a breath and cleared his throat. “Do you remember we met near here. I thought you were a spirit.” He chuckled lightly, it was so silly, but the beliefs of his old pride were hard to let go of and she had been so beautiful in the glistening water. Just saying those words pushed away some of the worry, melted the fear from his heart. This was Anya, he loved her and he would tell her properly! He just had to get her there, it was all set up, and he was ready. He just hoped she said yes.

Walking next to him felt natural, and Anya fell into a cheerful sway as he led her into the jungle. It was a beautiful, peaceful day today, and she was content to bask in his quiet company for the time being. She wondered where they could be fishing though. There weren't that many places to fish the further from the beach you got.
As they walked though, she began to suspect. Like was previously stated, there weren't many other places to fish, but there was one such place in this direction that she had grown quite fond of. She was a bit confused, as he'd mentioned somewhere new, but she trusted him regardless.
His next words confirmed that line of thought and she let out a chortle in response. "Oh yes, I'll never forget that day." She bumped against his side,"I think I was a good spirit though. You were quite a welcome sight too. I was worried I'd lost my way that day!"

The short silver male smiled happily at her, his emerald green eyes dancing in a pleased manner. He was glad she remembered, it was a silly thing really that she wouldn’t remember but the fact that she remembered it fondly made him happy. It made him feel a little more confident.
He had memorised the place that they had met and its path was well drilled in to his mind, he realised of course that he had promised his sandy nymph someplace new, well maybe it wasn’t a place really.
“You remember the way right? I’ll race you!” Without another word the chubby silver male broke in to a run, he knew Anya could beat him in a foot race but if he got enough of a head start he was certain he could beat her there and present her with her surprise.

She let out a laugh, not expecting him to break out into a run so suddenly but certainly not against it. She loved a good chase, especially if it involved stretching her muscles.... and admittedly, it was a nice view from behind, though she kept that tidbit to herself.
That said, she was indeed faster, and while he'd had a decent head start, Anya was already catching up to him. It would be close though. She could smell the river ahead of them, a scent that she's grown fond of recently.
She watched him leap out towards the water, before emerging herself along the rocky shoreline.Syrius Lionwing Decided to trail off here, cause I don't actually know what she'll find when they get there. xD;;

Upon emerging through the other side he sat in a small clearing, a clearing he had cleared out with his own paws and covered in flowers he had carefully plucked and arranged just for Anya.
He could tell he wasn’t breathing as he waited for her to follow him through the bushy opening. Take a breath, he had to tell himself as he breathed outwards in a very heavy breath. He had set this all up, he just hoped that she would like it, and more importantly that she would say yes to his most important question.

Anya was taken by surprise when he veered off to the side. She paused with a curious tilt of her head, before hurrying to follow him. She trusted Burny, and she wanted to see where he was taking her.
Of all the things she expected though, walking into a clearing of beautiful flowers was not high on that list. With a gasp, the lioness' eyes widened in delight and she slowed to a stop at the entrance. It was so colorful and smelled wonderful, and the icing on top was the nervous-looking lion standing in front of her. It was endearing to her, seeing him all nicely groomed in the middle of it all. This must have taken him hours!
"Oh Burny..." She said a bit breathlessly, "It's gorgeous."

The silver male cleared his throat, a nervous, awkward smile on his maw. Seeing her emerge in to this space he had made for her gave him courage.
“I made..I made it for you Anya. I..”He paused and swallowed hard. “You know ever since the day I met you I knew I wanted to spend my whole life with you.. I’m just, totally entirely terrible at finding the courage to ask you to be mine.. So I did this.. Cause I love you Anya and I don’t wanna spend another minute without you.” His ears vanished inside his mane as he looked up at the lioness who had long stolen his heart.

Anya was speechless at first. She could do nothing except listen to him speak and gaze in adoration at what was in front of her. No one has ever done something like this for her, she almost felt like she could cry from happiness. She probably should have known that Burny would be the one to make her feel this way.
Finally, the lioness gave a teary laugh, padding up daintily to him. As she got close to him, she reached her head forward to nudge her nose against the side of his head, trying to coax his ears back out. "Why, Burny, I thought you'd never ask."
She moved back to look him in the eyes lovingly, "I've been yours for a while now. I've just been waiting for you to ask," she said with a purr.

Burny grinned, he was so pleased, so very pleased hearing those words. She always made him feel wonderful. How he had won this beautiful ladies heart he would never know. He was after all a bit short and not exactly the handsomest guy around here. He loved Anya though, he loved her more than anything.
The short chubby male returned her head nudge with one of his own and his green eyes danced happily. “I’m sorry you had to wait so long.” He grinned a little foolish grin. He couldn’t have been happier that she had said yes, the feeling of fear had rushed away. She left him with a feeling of pure joy.
“I love you Anya.” He smiles touching his nose to hers.

She nuzzled happily back, over the moon to finally be official with Burny. Perhaps she'd been overconfident about them ending up together earlier, but she didn't think so. Nor did she regret her decisions leading up to this. She was happy, had found a mate in someone fantastic, with a peaceful pride to call home.
So in response, she let out a chuckle. "It was worth the wait. I love you too." Anya said with a purr, "So much."
Then, with a playful lick against his ear, the lioness sat close and curled a tail around him. "Now, I think I'd like to spend my first day with a mate here around this river. What do you say to getting a bite to eat?"Syrius Lionwing Perhaps end this one off with your next post? :3
