Webs have begun to appear all over Destiny City at an alarming pace; at first it doesn’t seem like anything to be concerned with—at first. Maybe a web over a window or door frame is the worst you see, but there have been reports of webs that cover a whole tree or even entire cars. The media cites changing weather patterns and, even though you don’t see any spiders, it’s clear you might have a problem.
Apparently, October was exactly the time of year for all of the spooky bullshit, because Damien thought he was past bats, but now there were spiderwebs all over the outside of Devlyn and Judas's apartment complex. He frowned, darkly, and very sincerely considered powering up to teleport in - but while he knew Judas was an officer, he had no idea about Devlyn, and even less about Keiran. So, fine.
He ducked under and around spiderwebs to get to the door, trying not to think too hard about the size of the things that could be making those, and made his way up to the door tot he apartment. He didn't bother knocking; he lived here, some weeks; just opened the door.
"You've got a spider problem, you know," he called into the apartment. Someone would be there, he was sure.

"Believe me. I know." Devlyn hissed in disgust as she came slinking around the corner, eyeing various parts of the house. She didn't want to deal with this problem at all, but she was getting the distinct idea this wasn't... normal spider activity. "******** hell spawns... I don't even wanna think of how big these things have to be to leave all this webbing behind..." Or how many there were.
"It's just us. Jude and Kei went out a few hours ago." Though like usual, the pair hadn't told her where they were going, or when they'd be back. At this point, she didn't care. She just hoped that where ever they were, and whatever they were doing, they were safe. Devy sighed before wandering closer to Damien and picking the a small bit of spider webbing off his jacket. "So far it's not getting in but..."
Damien shook his head. "And of course it has to be spiders, because why wouldn't it be spiders," he said, dropping his keys by the door and then dropping himself on the couch. "I'm just glad we haven't seen the thing making them."
He hated the idea of dealing with giant spiders. Part of him wondered if this might be some Negaverse officer's plot, but that seemed a little wide-spread even for one of them.
"I'm sure whatever they're doing, they're having a good time, and there are, hopefully, fewer spiders," he said dryly, and he glanced over at the spider webbing she pulled off his jacket with disdain. "Ugh," he said, quietly. "Why must it be spiders."

"Ugh... Shut up. I'm already going to have nightmares cause of this." She groaned, following him to the couch and all but throwing herself into his lap with a scowl.
"Yeah well... Whoever it is, I wish they'd ******** stop." Devlyn grumbled, flicking the spider web away from them. "If we fall asleep, and wake up to a webbed over house, I'm blaming you. You brought it in here." She grumbled, sulking against him. "I'd say it could be worse, however, I'm not sure what's worse then spiders." What would be considered worse then spiders?? "Where's those giant a** bats when you need them. Wish they'd eat our mystery spiders."
"I'm merely passing the nightmare fuel around," Damian said airily, giving her a grin. It was so easy to enjoy being around her. Devlyn was fun, and she seemed fond enough of him without all the artifice and power of Ashanite.
That was refreshing.
"Devlyn, lovely, if it was going to get in, it would be here, I think," he said, and then he slung an arm around her waist, tugging her over. "But yes, this is one of the few times I actually wish we did have more of those damn things flying around." He raised his eyebrows. "Besides the damn webs, have you had any other fun and exciting supernatural encounters?"

Devlyn shot him a dirty look. "Nightmare fuel? Ugh. ******** you. You can sleep in someone else's bed tonight. How's that for nightmare fuel." Devlyn groused.
She hadn't been expecting the hand, so she jumped when it wrapped around her. The young girl twisted, ready to slap the offending thing when she realized it was just him. "Christ D... You're killing me here." She groaned flopping against him and curling in on herself. "Can we not... Ugh. How do we know it's not already here? Maybe it breaks down into a bunch of tiny spiders and then reforms into some big bad beasty?" Dev challenged.
"No... I haven't been outside the apartment. I'm assuming the boys are fine... Neither of them have started spam calling me to find out what's going on. There have been a few reports about things on the news though.. Apparently one of the parks has over flooded due to the rain.. Rumor has it people are seeing some 'swamp beast' roaming it occasionally."
Damian laughed, shaking his head. "If I must, I'll survive somehow," he teased, lightly. "But it would be a nightmare to go to bed alone if I have the option of not."
He shrugged, briefly, when Devlyn jumped, and started to withdraw his hand. "Sorry," he said, in a tone that made it clear he wasn't actually sorry. The thought of spiders already in the apartment, though, made him frown, even as he shifted to allow her to get more comfortable. "Please, don't, that is the most unpleasant thing I have ever heard."
He exhaled. "Well, I'm glad to hear you've been alright, and you're probably correct that they are too." His hand slid up from her waist to her shoulders, and he moved to wrap one of the long strands of her hair around his finger, a light, affectionate tease. "Ugh. Swamp beasts, giant bats, spiderwebs? It's that time of year, I suppose."

Devlyn snorted quietly. "Considering I don't think Jude's coming home tonight, it's a possibility you're sleeping alone on the couch anyway. Unless you suddenly like sleeping with Keiran." She muttered. "So you better stop with the nightmare fuel and maybe I'll let you back into bed tonight." She challenged then paused. "Are you staying ******** liar..." She grumbled under her breath, but sighed contently when he shifted to accommodate her. "Ha! See. You don't like the thought of them being in here anymore then I do, so stop teasing me on it, you brat."
Devlyn hummed softly, watching him mess with the ends of her hair. "Just think, once Halloween is over, we'll have over groan turkeys and rampaging reindeer to contend with." She said flatly. "I love Hallween but... I hate the end of the year... It's like this city goes to s**t and loses its god damn mind every year." Her hands then roamed about, seeking out the end of his braid. While the end of the year brought people together... she didn't want to think of the potential s**t storm that was about to come.
Damian pressed a hand to his chest, mock-horrified. "I can't believe you'd do that to me," he said. "But I promise I'll be good." As if he was capable.
"I also never said I was thrilled by the idea of them getting in," he pointed out. "But I think yes, we'll all be happier as long as they stay outside, thank you very much." Of all the horrifying things Destiny City could produce, of course it had to be spiders. It was always spiders. It couldn't be something creepy but less crawlie, no, that would be absurd.
His eyebrows shot up. "You sound like you're implying this is a perfectly normal place to live the rest of the year," he said dryly. Almost casually, he shifted his hair out from behind him so the end of the braid was in her reach. "Things do sort of go thematically odd around this time, though."

Devlyn snorted, finally cracking a smile. "I've done a lot worse to you then kicking you out of bed and we both know it." She said, finally finding her prize. The girl quickly set to removing the hair tie and undoing Damian's braid as far as he'd let her. Occasionally she'd comb her fingers through it, seeking out any tangles that might be there.
"Ugh. Is it stupid to say that I hope this is one of those stupid... youma things that end up running around the city and not something... worse? Like, could you imagine if these spiders were anything like the spiders in 'The Mist'?" She asked. "We'd be ******** hummed in thought, carefully picking at the man's hair. "Destiny City does tend to be a bit saner during the first half of the year... It's only really when summer starts to end that it begins to freak out and lose it's s**t." When Dev was done, there was a pool of dark blue hair in her lap, both braid, and tangle free.
Damien wrinkled his nose. "I think I agree," he said. " "I'll take baseline Destiny City weird over some new absurdity." A youma he could control, could dust if it got out of control. Something new? Who could even guess. Ugh. It disturbed him.
He sighed and leaned over, eyes closing, as she began to undo his braid. It wasn't often that he let someone take his hair down, but there was something comforting about it. "That is how it seems to go," he acknowledged, and then he sighed. "Don't move too much, I'm comfortable and I'd like a nap."

"Makes you wonder what goes on in other cities..." Devlyn murmured.
Dev rolled her eyes with a playful smirk before wrapping an arm around Damian and stretched along the couch. "Maybe you should lay down then, instead of whatever weird angle you were just going for..." Devlyn reached around, pulling the blanket of the back of the couch and haphazardly tossed it over them. "If I have dreams about spiders, I'm coming after you." She muttered, tangling their limbs together.
