Recent rainfall has kept temperatures cool but one of the parks can’t handle all the water draining into it. The water has turned it into a strange swamp and, in addition to the terrible smell, people have claimed to see strange floating lights—or, weirder—a strange, hulking figure that seems right at place in the swamp. Some have described it as being seven feet tall, covered in moss and weeds and mud and who knows what else; while no one has been able to confirm this, if you venture too close you might wind up observing something strange, yourself. The park no longer feels safe and if you wander too close you may feel hateful eyes upon you. You may even wind up chased out by a monstrous swamp monster, but if you try to approach him or interact otherwise, he seems to disappear. It’s probably best just to stay away from the park until the water dries up, just in case.
This was not, ordinarily, the sort of thing Sunny would end up doing with her night; but she'd earned a little cryptid-spotting, or if she was honest with herself, a little dead-body-searching. People turned up dead a lot in Destiny City - a disgusting and impromptu swamp would have made a good place to hide bodies, at least until it was eventually dredged, at which point...the bodies might have been too decomposed? She didn't really know a lot about dead bodies, and she didn't much care to learn. That would have required either looking at a lot of dead things, likely mammals, or getting hands-on with those, which. Ew. Gross? Her interest in science didn't lie in forensics, it laid in quality of life improvements; a dead thing didn't have much of a quality of life to speak of, and that was even before you got to the smells and the textures and the knowledge this was alive once and now it's not, it will never wake up again - well. She made sure dead birds she found were placed somewhere a little safer to decompose, never touched them with her bare hands, and felt that was leaving well enough alone.
If anything, really, her biggest concern was the woman she'd seen determinedly heading into the swamp ahead of her, without even some sort of mask or kerchief to cover her nose? That was irresponsible! (And even worse, coming from a pretty girl! The sheer astonishment of it was off the charts.) So out of what was absolutely a sense of responsibility and genuine worry and absolutely not anything else, Sunny jogged after Mirielle. "Wait up!"
