Age: 19
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: It's a secret
Rank: Wingrider
Previous Craft: Dancer (Spy)
Location: Western Weyr
Physical Description: Blessed with charming features and height rather startling for a woman of good breeding, Amra took the unconventional route and chose to accentuate both her features and her towering height rather than attempt to mask it. Her grey eyes are always half closed and her lack of expression can often give her a look of boredom or disinterest that she has worked hard to use as a mask for her various curiosities. If you happen to be lucky enough to be rewarded with a smile it's a brief encounter that sits well on her face and then disappears almost as quickly. Long hair is restrained into a different tail or loosely bunched fall each day and Amra's brunette locks reach well past the center of her back.
With her height most clothing is simply impossible and though she does not claim any rank in the craft, Amra is adept at clothing design out of sheer necessity. While the scheme of color is generally in the dark colors, when she wears a skirt there can be any number of colors dyed into the fabric. It's common for Amra to expose her toned midriff while dancing but she prefers to bare it at all times thanks to her time as an apprentice where she spent long days with it exposed. Since entering the Weyr her clothing has become much more practical and less whimsical.
Personality: The most accurate description that could be said of her, is that she is a "knife in the panty drawer" kind of woman. Everything about Amra can be simultaneously innocuous and deadly, the situation one finds them-self in around her is the deciding factor on which side they may meet. Thanks to years of training she is a secret even from those that know her and only her small firelizard knows the lengths she goes to in order to learn everything. Amra's mind is an encyclopedia of information that she files away for purposes known only to herself, some things will never see the light of day where other tidbits will resurface suddenly when the occasion arises that she could use it to an advantage. Those foolish enough to cross her will find themselves meeting obstacles in their daily endeavors that otherwise would have been avoided. They don't do well from that point onward if they are forced to stay in close proximity to their unbeknownst tormenter.
Despite her secretive and vengeful ways Amra can be quite friendly in the correct setting. Polite comes to her naturally and the kindness that follows could easily win her friendships if she desired. However it's all a show put on to gain favor with those in both higher and lower places. Information comes from all levels after all, a dragon rider sees the world differently than a trader or drudge and the information gleaned has differing values. But none of the information Amra gathers lacks value and so the friendly relations that lead to a furthering of knowledge for her are never to be underestimated. There have even been a few that Amra has cherished and furthered for reasons beyond usefulness. Few and far between, these individuals learn more about her than anyone, but they still never get to see the depths behind her gray eyes.
Though she would rather use her wits than preform physical tasks she has no problem pulling her own weight throughout the long days. There are things that even words cannot excuse one from and her highly trained dancers body does not disappoint those around her when work needs done. Amra will be the first to the task and the last to leave, always staying to help those in worse condition than the rest, using these times as a base to win herself the respect necessary to fulfill her own duties.
Once a day Amra absolutely must take at least ten minutes to rearrange and organize her mental room. If that means while she bathes, after she eats, or most often before she sleeps, she must find a calm point within herself to take care of the information she found that day. Placing it in the correct place within the room allows Amra the chance to recall it quickly without missing a beat. Neglecting the room has caused her to lose information before and can sometimes even throw the general order into madness, requiring her to take much longer to place everything back the way it was.
Positive Trait List Curious, Intuitive, Advantageously Kind
Negative Trait List Secretive, Bitter, Judgmental
History: Amra's mother was, and still is, a traveling trader with fingers in pies across two continents and a network of people that work under her to ensure fair business. Or at least so they're told. It was her mother that first initiated her into the art of learning her enemies and friends in order to use them at a later date. None would expect that the small child running about their skirts and boots was in fact listening to their every word and retaining it through memory techniques her mother taught her, all so she could parrot back the information at a later date. Paper, her mother claimed, was a quick way to be discovered and knifed down in the alleys. So Amra learned to form a room in her mind, a place she stored information in the form of pictures and words that can be placed into cabinets or on shelves.
Though more conventional children would have hated this upbringing, the growing girl loved it and thrived under the secretive lifestyle she and her mother kept. Never once did she ask for a life other than the one she lived and never once did her mother allow her to go without what the two considered the essentials. Amra decided from a young age that her father must not have been essential, or else he had been a burden to her mother and was deftly removed as an obstacle that impeded her goals in the underground trading business. It wasn't that she had no interest, it was just that asking her mother seemed a fools errand or worse, dangerous.
At the age of ten she was tapped by the Courtesan Hall, offered a prestigious apprenticeship under a Spymaster that promised to teach her and expand upon her vast mental capabilities. Amra never considered it an actual option, to be away from her mother was a reality that her mind, trained and intelligent as it was proving, had been too young to conceive of. To her mother's credit and character, the woman pushed her towards the Hall, seeing for her daughter an opportunity to learn in a way she had never been allowed. Not frightened, but completely unsure of herself in a new world, Amra made her debut in Western Hold as a Dancer Apprentice and for all appearances flourished in her newly joined craft. All the while she was learning more in the shadows than ever before and was proving to be a valuable apprentice to her master.
Becoming a Journeyman Spymaster meant that she needed to make both friends and enemies, however she began to quickly readjust those standards and wiped friendship from her mind. Assets was a more accurate description and much more lucrative than a friendship could ever be. Rivalries sparked and burned, hatred blossomed and was crushed when the masters informed the apprentices of the uselessness that came from holding onto hatred. Cool detachment was taught and prized, attained by only a few who would eventually go to walk the tables. Thanks to her dual crafts and her devotion to both despite herself, Amra learned so swiftly that her advancement came startlingly fast. She walked the tables to become an official Jorneyman Dancer at seventeen and though her main Craft was hidden, she advanced through that as well in a more private setting. Her master decided that she would be of more use in a Weyr, a constant flow of information as to the status and growth of their local protectors.
The year of Thread's first return she was Searched, by whom and to what end remains an unsettling mystery, into Western Weyr and began her life as a Candidate. Of all the things that she expected, the myriad of deaths throughout Pern was certainly not one of them. Her fears for her mother, for her masters and the assets that she would lose as a direct result of all the devastation drove her from the Weyr one late morning towards anything but the blood and death that had become every moment. The keening howl of dragons who would raise their voices for those fallen was seared into her mind and played as a haunting noise in the background of her inner mind's room. There had been no escape and she saw no alternative but to escape.
Never one to leap to action without at least the skeleton of a plan, Amra did her best to save a sufficient amount of food for her impending escape. Her taller form necessitated the need for more food than one of the smaller waifs that she learned alongside and Amra saved diligently for days before leaving. As late morning dawned she slid from the Weyr with the intent of returning to the Hall and requesting another assignment. Her plans, however, came to instant ruin as a small creature assaulted her head, a whirlwind of battering wings and screeches like she had never heard before. Taken by surprise she responded by instantly shoving a piece of fruit from her pocket into it's mouth and stepping away from the little beast.
When that seemed to calm it momentarily she attempted to skirt around the creature towards the outside, only to have it attack her once more. Amra fed it each time, hoping to appease it so that she could flee the Weyr, but the small firelizard pressed her back each time. Finally, afraid to attract unwanted attention to her actions, she darted back into the Weyr, followed closely by the firelizard that seemed calmer now. To her horror Thread began to fall just as she retreated, followed swiftly by the appearance of wings of dragons and riders. A pair of hands grabbed her and pulled her back towards the Candidate quarters, followed slowly by the now sleepy firelizard who eventually came to fall asleep around her neck. Whirlwind, as the creature would be aptly named, had been only a hatchling, afraid of the Threadfall and frantic he had escaped being eaten as two of his nestling siblings had and found her only by fluke.
The Candidatemaster, after sitting her down and firmly detailing what could have happened to her outside on her own, explained that her feeding him had formed a bond between the pair. Having known of firelizards but not about impressing them, Amra was understandably confused when Whirlwind chose to stay with her despite ample opportunity to leave. Though it took time and training, the small brown firelizard became a second set of eyes for her and certainly the only being that knew her inside and out.
Impressing a firelizard did not save her from the punishment the master laid before her, his wish being that she understood the reckless danger and why they were teaching her. Finally understanding the need for dragon riders as protectors, Amra applied herself to learning the ways and histories of dragon riders and the Weyrs with all the same enthusiasm she had used in her previous training. Though she keeps the same thorough tabs on her fellow Candidates and all those she encounters, there is no one for her to currently report to, her master having died in the first weeks of Threadfall. She is a spy without a master to report to, so she compiles information purely for herself while she studies and secretly, deep down in a part of her only Whirlwind sees, dreams of flying a dragon to fight the Thread that killed so many.
Other: Amra has a brown firelizard named Whirlwind

Green Seirath

Colored by smolderingskies
Origin of Name: Seirath comes from the emytology of the actual word, Siren. It's thought that the name siren comes from either seirá "rope, cord", or eírō "to tie, join, fasten", as Sirens are known to entangle and ensnare their victims with music.
Inspiration: This dragon is based on the Siren. While it might not be a stereotypical monster, its influence can be found in many modern fantasies. Merfolk and harpies are both thought to be closely related to the siren. In Greek mythology they were considered part women and part bird, with their beautiful voices luring their victims; in Roman mythology they were thought to have ties to the sea. As the myth continued over the years, it was thought both their voices and their bodies were able to enrapture their victims.
Sirens often take the form of a woman, who lure sailors to them with their enchanting voices. Once enraptured, the sirens kill their victim, and destroy their ships.
According to modern stories, Sirens can read their victims mind, and take on the form of an ideal lover.
If a siren fails to lure their victim through song, they will kill themselves.
Personality: The first thing someone notices about Seirath is just how lovely she happens to be. The second thing someone notices about Seirath is her voice! While other dragons might honk and bellow and trumpet, this green dragon always knows how to hit a perfectly pleasing pitch. Her trumpets are golden and smooth, her trills never sharp or flat. While she can't exactly sing, for a dragon, she has quite the voice. Seirath also seems to know how to put feeling in her vocals -- when she bugles in triumph, you can tell she's joyous; and when she keens in sorrow, those around her might well wish to weep.
She is a very expressive dragon. Her eyes will always display what she's feeling, and her body language will mimic such a thing. When she's happy she might all but bounce around her rider; when she's looking to flirt -- and when isn't she looking to flirt -- she'll be sure to move with all the grace she was gifted with. It isn't difficult to read what Seirath wants... but good luck keeping her interested.
This green is difficult to please. She is a flirt, and she will flirt with just about anyone and anything. She especially enjoys flirting with the boys, making them squirm, and then laughing at their ridiculousness. Honestly, Seirath might actually look down upon the males of the world -- it's not that she thinks less of them, they just are so easily played! Females are far too clever, and far too beautiful for that matter, to waste too much time on them. Still, the petite green enjoys teasing the boys, and will never hesitate to take another lady under her wing.
For all that she's an amicable green, she does have her odd mood. Her rider will find her quite a needy creature. Beneath all her flirtations, and all her desires to impress others with her songs, she does not like being without attention. While she doesn't need to be the center of attention all the time, she at least likes someone -- or maybe a few someones -- to recognize her for what she's worth. While her need for affirmation from her rider and clutchmates might seem cute as a hatchling, she may need help finding her own inner strength as she grows, as no dragon can receive constant praise or support. She also has a tendency to be insecure. While she is accustomed to others fawning over her, it's when they look away, or stop doing so, that this green suddenly wonders -- is she pretty enough? Is she talented enough? Add any amount of criticism and this green can become quite uncertain.
And oh, Faranth forbid a rival -- or even a friend -- start stealing the show around her. Oh, Seirath can get quite jealous. If someone gets a fancy gift, she will quietly, secretly, seethe and desire her own fancy trinket. If someone gets praise for some maneuver, she will try to do something twice as flashy, so she might also get praised too. Oh, Seirath likes to claim she can share the limelight... but the reality is she can't stand to be overshadowed.
She might not like her jealous streak, but it's there all the same, just waiting to get her and her rider in trouble. If her rider can't keep Seirath's jealousy in line, they might well be taken for quite the ride all in the name of need.
Positive Traits: Musical, Flirtatious, Expressive
Negative Traits: Jealous, Insecure, Needy
Adult Size: 21'
Physical Attributes: This green is a beautiful specimen -- she's neither overly muscled, nor under weight. She is sleek in design, and while her wings are, perhaps, a bit longer than some of her kin, it only adds to her delicate beauty. She is swift once in the air, and will be able to dazzle with her aeriel maneuvers. Her stamina is on the shorter side, unfortunately, which tends to make her mating flights short but sweet. Her rider will need to ensure they don't overdue it while fighting thread or in weyrling training -- especially when Seirath wants to show off or turn all eyes on them.
Additional Notes: Seirath is truly a ladies green. While she absolutely loves enrapturing the men -- and you can be sure she'll have a line of them waiting to do her bidding -- she most enjoys dashing their hopes and dreams. She will let herself be flown by them, but much prefers the company of her beautiful greens. Men are fun and games, but a lady is forever.
She is also quite melodious for a dragon. Her vocalizations -- creels, bugles, hums, trills, and croons -- are surprisingly on key. They're expressive, and usually pleasing to the ear. She is friends with Kiemeth as a swimming partner, and she and Loreleth sing sweet music together.
Theme Song: Loreley by Blackmore's Night
Why Me? From the beginning, Seirath knew that she wanted a lady... but when she felt Amra's presence, she knew just exactly which lady it was that she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. Amra, you are Seirath's ideal. A beautiful, powerful, self-actualized woman. She finds her rider endlessly fascinating, and would love to be the singer to go with her lady's dancer. They have so much common ground that it's hard to know where to start, but at the end of the day, it is Amra's strength that Seirath needs so desperately. She would like nothing more than to be the badass she sees in her Impressed, and perhaps one day they'll prove to the world what an incredible match they truly make.
