A local coffee shop has some great new recipes and there’s been a lot of buzz about it—only, if you’ve indulged you may find yourself with some unusual side effects. Due to some very defective pumpkins (and who knows what else), pumpkin spice lovers are suffering from nausea, vomiting and—perhaps worst of all—your skin has turned orange on top of it all. Thankfully the discoloration and illness seems to wear off within a few hours, but you probably shouldn’t go back for a second cup. Jason thought to himself as he looked past the current line of customers towards the ordering counter. This local coffee shop had advertised some new recipes, including some pumpkin-spice flavored hot chocolate and he had tried to convince his older brother to come. Unfortunately Tom was a bit adverse to messing with old-fashioned flavors of hot chocolate and so the younger Wolf sibling had gone on his own. After all, he couldn't be going everywhere with his older brother. However, considering the coffee shop had been local, he hadn't ever imagined that it would be this popular. Wasn't there a Starbucks right down the street? He had already been in line for about 10 minutes and was very thankful that he didn't have school today. No way would he have even been able to step foot in the door with this kind of wait time! However, it was still slow going and even reading part of a book on his phone wasn't really helping time to move by any quicker. All he wanted was a pumpkin-spice hot-chocolate!

Dessy grinned. It was a lovely autumn day, and things couldn't be going any better!
Justin had told her about the promotion he was getting at one of his jobs, allowing him to drop one and get better hours at the other, she got a test back – one she had thought she'd failed terribly, but in fact hadn't done too badly at- and her coach at the gym thought she was ready to enter higher ranked matches... no, today wasn't just a good day, it was an awesome day.
On her way out of the gym and home to the apartment she and Justin called home, she noticed an advert on the wall from a small local coffee shop. It seemed like they were trying to compete with Starbucks, offering comparable fall flavors... She pulled out her wallet and considered briefly. She didn't have much, but it was such a nice day, surely a cup of coffee wasn't too much of an indulgence. She made the decision to be selfish. She would try this coffee shop and their new flavors.
Walking the streets in the opposite direction of home, she found it wasn't that difficult to find. The line to try these new coffee flavors had nearly reached the coffee shop doors. Perhaps this isn't the best idea. She thought briefly, before shaking her head. Perhaps this was selfish, and not the greatest idea, but dammnit, she deserved to treat herself once in a great while!
The crowd started to push and she found herself knocked into the person in front of her.
'Excuse me. Sorry.' How embarrasing was this?

Jason had been staring at his phone at this point, reading one of the novels he kept on it for when he was in really long lines and didn't want to waste a ton of battery power, when suddenly the line started moving. He was just about to take a step closer to the front when he had been pushed from behind! Luckily though he didn't fall or bump the person in front of him, but it had been surprising at least! He looked behind him and noticed a woman behind him that he hadn't seen before. Well, he hadn't seen a lot of people before, but that was besides the point. "It's okay. It's crowded here anyway so it's bound to happen. At least I didn't have any drinks in my hand!" Goodness knows that he wouldn't be going back for a refill if a spill happened! He looked to the front, glad to see that the line had gotten quite a bit smaller, though still feeling a bit of regret spending so much time doing this, especially for something that probably wouldn't be any good anyway. He turned around and smiled at the woman. "Didn't think it would be so crowded today. You getting coffee?"

Mortification, thy name is Desmona. Her cheeks flamed red with the embarrasment she felt. And she looked every which way except at the young man she had accidentally bumped into.
She wasn't normally a fan of crowds, the only time she was ok was when she was at fighting matches or out somewhere with her brother. This, this type of thing, was putting her far, far out of her depth. Comfort had flown out the window nearly as soon as she had joined the line, but then flown out the window when the person behind her shoved her to get her moving.
The first time she decided to do something nice for herself, she ended up here, and in this crush of humanity. It might be enough to discourage her from doing anything like this ever again...
'Sorry.' She mumbled again. This was just... her day started out good but seemed to be going to pot very quickly. 'I didn't mean to... just sorry.'
Hearing what he said, Dessy felt a small bit of relief. He didn't seem too upset, but then, she wasn't always the best judge of figuring out if people were being genuine or sarcastic. She hoped it was the former. 'That... wouldn't be a good thing. I guess I should be glad that you don't have your drink yet. '
'Yeah. I heard they were offering some fall flavors, and Starbucks is too much, I thought it a good way to treat myself. And maybe a treat for my brother too. What about you? What drew you here? Was it the pumpkin spice, too?'

Well, the girl did seem very apologetic, but Jason hadn't been mad at all. It was hard not to bump into others considering how crowded it was in the store. And besides, it's not like it would be the last time someone would accidentally hit him. The space just didn't allow much movement! He waved at her. "You're okay! It's not like you meant to do it!" It would be weird if she had. Though he was sure that some people were willing to do anything to try to get farther in line. Though hopefully it wouldn't be for something as silly as flavored coffee. He nodded his head. "I had invited my brother to come but... well we're not really coffee drinkers and he has a huge thing of hot chocolate at his apartment, just not pumpkin spice flavors. So I though I would try some here!" He replied, taking a few steps forward as the line moved again. Just two more people and he would... at least have ordered his drink. Who knows how long it would take to actually get it. And he would have to stalk the counter just in case there were any swipers.
