Oh come back to Tendaji, Nadiya. You'll be amazed at how my business has grown, I've doubled any profits that Father used to make. The twins would love to see you and if Neryssa isn't returning at least you can drop in and visit us so we can give you more funds for your travels. It'll be fine, just fine to come back for a bit.

"Fine he said." Quipped Nadiya as the Oban sun warmed her back. The Matori was dressed in light cloth with only some leathers around her waist to hold the open blouse and the ruffled skirt in place, but even that seemed to be smoldering against the desert heat. She was just thankful that she had opted to take off the leather corset before joining up with the caravan. And what a caravan it was. Her brother hadn't been lying since it had many luxuries and was well off enough to require paid swordsmen to guard it, including some foreigners who were very interesting to look at. Flirtatious as usual the bard had quickly made certain to tease several of the men with music and jokes. Though one in particular seemed super glum as she couldn't seem to get any smile from him and she was so hopeful to see how those silver eyes could light up. Either way for her brother to afford even a Yaeli to guard his caravan was definitely a feat. Nadiya was impressed and happy for her older brother since it was nice to see him doing well. She, however, was content to continue playing her music and traveling around and just hoped that their parents wouldn't try to force anymore business meetings or relationships upon her.

Not that such worries mattered in the middle of a bandit attack. The very reason Nadiya was throwing her brother's useless promises back into the air was because despite all of his reassurances that everything would be okay NOTHING was fine. In fact she had already clobbered one dirty Oban in the head with her flute and kicked a strange Matori in the lower regions with her leather boots. Now that dirt was clinging to her clothing and she was racing around the caravan to try and find her brother the girl was in for even more of a surprise! Just when she was certain that the attack had been pushed back, which the swordsmen were doing a great job of it, the ground beneath her feet had started to shudder. All of the fighting and the load of the animals plus their wagons had caused the ground to give in places. Even though she had thought she was close enough to the caravan to be safe Nadiya's actions in fighting off the two bandits (basically running away from them and hitting them as necessary with her flute and kicking them with her boots) had caused her to be on the edge of the cliffs where the path was weakest.

"Ahren!" Her brother's name escaped her lips, but he was nowhere to be found. In fact all Nadiya could recall was a flash of purple and silver as she reached out for anyone to try and save her. As the caravan got tossed one way and the Quhar and Xaraan pulled it in the opposite direction of the cliffs Nadiya found herself tumbling down the broken path into the area far, far beneath. She was just fortunate that there was a deep enough stream running below the cliffs that cushioned her fall, if not soaking her clothing but at least keeping her from cracking her skull open. Even though she was in one piece, save for being dizzy from the fall and still trying to get her bearings, it didn't stop the fact that she was somehow now lost in the wilderness away from the caravan and stuck beneath cliffs that loomed far above and kept her away from her brother and the path.

Jolanta was muttering a long string of colorful Yaelian curse words as he broke the surface of the water, looking up toward the spot that he'd fallen from. So much had happened in what felt like no time flat, leaving him a bit battered and bruised, as well as very displeased with the entire situation. The bandits weren't really what had gotten under his skin, he'd more then expected such things given the luxurious caravan was just begging to be attacked. It was that unexpected fall that had him so very miffed. Who could be ready for the ground just giving way beneath their feet after all? Certainly not him since he'd just fallen to what he was almost certain was his doom.

Instead it had been a water landing that still left him sore all over, but not dead. After standing up he set to looking himself over, making sure that he was alright, and despite what he was certain would be some bruises later he seemed to be alright. Now all he had to do was find everything he'd lost on the way down. As he busied himself searching for his pack and his sword he found himself grateful that he'd at least gotten paid ahead of time.

At least that way if he didn't catch up with the caravan that had gone racing off without him he didn't have to worry about being screwed out of his pay. At least he wouldn't be if he was able to find his pack which had his pay in it. As he went about the search he found himself suddenly going stock still, turning slowly, and found himself starring at that too flirty Matorian girl from earlier. She'd fallen too? A though that caused him to give a bit of a sigh as he starred at her, trying to decide what he should do now that the situation had gotten that much more complicated.

Have mercy. Nadiya pursed her lips in frustration as she waded through the waters. It wasn't bad enough that the caravan had most of her clothing and belongings, but now her current attire was soaking wet and she just couldn't bare it. Frustrated she began to shed the outer layers as soon as she touched the shore. As she took off the leather belt and shed her outer attire the Matori stood there in just her long boots and in shorts and a lace top that had straps connecting the material around her shoulders, "I suppose that's more fitting for Oba anyways." She commented as she bundled up her skirts into a ball and slung them into the satchel that had been at her side. Thankfully it had fallen with her and had caught on a rock rather than sinking into the waters. Not that it helped much considering it held only a journal and some loose knickknacks.

She just hoped Ahren and the rest were okay. Though now that Nadiya thought about it...had she been the only one to fall here? She had been so wrapped up in getting out of soaking wet clothing that she hadn't even taken the time to look around. "Oh." The gasp escaped her as she stared wide-eyed at the Yaeli from earlier, "You." It seemed accusatory almost as if she were about to blame him for their fall before it turned into a smile, "So I'm not alone!" She walked towards the man, "Are you okay? I hit the water so my clothing got soaked, but it saved me from getting too injured." Minus some sore limbs and a few bruises showing on her arms and legs the Matori was in good shape. She was just thankful it had been her bag to land on the rock and not her, "Considering how wet you are...well I suppose you hit the water too." She couldn't help teasing with a small grin.

Well even if they were separated from the caravan at least they had each other right? What was his name again? Nadiya paused before sticking out a hand, "I'm sorry that I never got to introduce myself earlier - I'm Nadiya, Ahren's younger sister." She tilted her head thoughtfully as she let her hand linger in the air before the Yaeli, "And you?"

Jolanta found himself starring at the girl as she suddenly came at him, at first seeming upset... and then set to chatting at him in a manner that was almost overwhelming. After a moment he merely said, "I'm fine." As fine as one could be after such a fall that was. He was likely to feel it for days but it wasn't as though he was going to complain about it, not when he was a grown man and a warrior at that. Compared to something that he could complain about a fall just seemed... petty.

"How are you fairing?" Not that he cared so much exactly but given that she was the sister of the man that hired him there could be money in delivering her back to the caravan. It was something to consider even though he really wasn't a fan of the idea of having to travel too long with a singular person. He'd given up protecting people when he left Yael and it was a decision that had been cemented within his mind after he'd spent a couple weeks looking after a young noble kid back in Oba.

Turning back to the water he continued his search, soon dredging up his sword first out of the water. As the girl set to introducing herself he gave pause, then said, "Everyone just calls me Steel Eyes." For obvious reasons, and because he saw no reason to share his name with people that he would likely never seen again... that or people that he didn't want to have his name when it came to certain people back in Oba. Since he was sure he'd never see Nadiya again he felt his nickname of sorts should suffice.

Nadiya tilted her head in surprise at his question, "You're concerned about me?" She teased lightly with a grin, "How sweet." The Matori stretched out her arms and tried her best to hide the slight wince from the sudden pain. Perhaps she was a bit more beaten up than she would like to confess, "I'm fine. More disappointed that we won't be getting that roast that the cook was talking about all morning." She crinkled her nose as she glanced up at the cliffs looming in the distance, "I doubt we're climbing that back as well." It seemed that the waters had actually even moved them further away from the collapsed path. Even if they were right next to it Nadiya didn't think she could trust the ground there. What if they fell again and this time no water waited them at the bottom? She shuddered just thinking about it. No thank you.

"Steel eyes." Nadiya repeated with a quirked brow, "You really...want me to call you that?" Her forehead wrinkled in a frown as she thought about doing such a thing, "No offense, but it's not my preferred sort of nickname. If anything they should give you some feat to be named after or something less...cold?" She shrugged her shoulders, "Though thinking about that I suppose Steel Eyes does fit you."

She did shoot him a look though after another pause, "But I'm not everybody else so please don't expect me to call you that forever." She sighed as she spun about and glanced around at their situation, "We can't go back the way we came so it seems we have a bit of a walk ahead of us. We might as well get comfortable with each other so I'll think of another nickname for you until you reveal your true name to me." She teased lightly, "I'll think of it as a game to help pass time as we walk along."

Her expression did flicker to some mixed emotions as she once more glanced about them. It would be a hard walk to get home as she didn't even recognize this area, but surely it wasn't impossible? She also had this man here who thankfully had recovered his sword so that was some protection. Balancing all the options in her head Nadiya finally pointed to the South, "I don't know the exact path, but judging by the Sun that direction should lead us to Matori. Once we hit the actual road I can take us home where the caravan should be headed. I'm sure Ahren will be happy if you brought me to safety. Sound good, mister?" Regardless of being a stranger Nadiya knew one thing about swordsmen - they liked to get their pay. A smart man would realize that taking the sister of the merchant who had paid him home could result in even more money. She just hoped that she didn't have to spell it out for him.

He was concerned? A thought that had him starring at the Matorian girl before he found himself turning back to his search. That wasn't what he'd meant to imply. It wasn't because he wanted to check on her or appear as though he was more concerned then he actually was, it was just because she was the sister of his current employee and that was it. At the mention of her just being disappointed in the fact that she was missing out on a roast he turned his attention back to her, trying to figure out if she was serious or not. Given the situation that they were in it was kind of hard to tell to be honest.

As she went about debating over his nickname, seeming to be against it before saying that the name did fit. He gave a slow nod of his head before he said, "That is what I am told." No reason to deny what was the honest truth about himself that had been summed up in a name. His search finally turned up the pack that he'd been looking for. He looked it over before giving a nod, "Good. There it is." He opened it up, making sure that everything was still within it, his pay especially. After he made sure that everything was in order the pack was closed and slung over his shoulder.

"You can call me that for as long as we are together, which will only be until we get back to the caravan." There was no reason for her to call him by anything else... but it seemed as though she meant to make a game of trying to figure out his real name. A strange pastime for sure, but if it entertained her he'd let her be. Especially since it would appear that she knew the way back to what had been the destination of the caravan. Best that he play nice so that she didn't all of a sudden refuse to take the lead.

Her assurances that Ahren would be happy if he brought her back improved his mood. Here was to hoping that he'd show that happiness through monetary means. With that he gave a motion with his hand and said, "Please lead the way, Miss Nadiya."

Nadiya just let out a little 'pfft' in response to his acceptance of 'Steel Eyes' fitting him before she continued along her way. Surely there was something behind that. She was a story teller after all and her mind was already spinning a few potential tales about the mysterious man. He couldn't surely just be like that rock over there because he was breathing right? There was a light to be found and the more she thought about it the more Nadiya found herself determined to learn at least a little bit of something about the stranger. Plus Ahren wouldn't have hired someone who was completely horrible! Her brother wasn't like that and took care in who he hired. Nadiya took a long sideways glance towards Steel Eyes before letting out a soft sigh. Or perhaps her brother had screwed up, who knew?

"Such a short relationship." Quipped Nadiya, "I doubt you ever work in a group, right? Your very being screams the mysterious solo type." She commented as she jumped over a log and bounced ahead through the taller grasses, "Maybe I'll call you M.M. for a bit before moving onto something else. That work, mystery man?"

Should she mention to him that she wasn't completely certain of the path before them? Nah. The last thing she wanted was for mister gruff to go off on his own and leave her. Not that she was worried, but it did help to have someone with a real weapon nearby. She hadn't been on her own in a while, not since going to Belrea with her sister and to be in the unknown like this? She did not find it a very attractive idea at all to be alone. But who cared when money was involved right? Nadiya had to ignore the urge to roll her eyes as she began to create a path through the wilderness again. Men like that could be so predictable at times - though it made her think. "We'll be here for a bit so may as well get to talkin' a bit, right? Soooo what do you plan to do in the future, Mister Mystery?" She asked as she glanced back towards him, "Do you just collect money from missions for a growing horde of coins? I know someone who does it just for the booze for example while another is saving up enough money to settle down with a shop of his own one day. Someone else does it for impressing a woman while another man is simply bored and just uses the money leisurely while its really the missions that excite him."

Jolanta gave a sharp shake of his head, "I do not. Today was a special occasion." The pay was good and it was supposed to be a simple escort mission of a caravan. It was supposed to be something that he got done quickly and then he could get back to normal, solo missions. Something a bit dangerous given the whole bug mage threat but he wasn't one to so easily change or start to make friends with other hunters. If someone did that then they started to lose out on money since all bounties were essentially going to be split in half. Not something the Yaelian man was really about to allow.

Giving a sigh as she started in almost instantly with the attempts at new names Jolanta merely said, "If that is what you wish to call me." No reason to argue if she wanted to make up a bunch of different, strange nicknames. If she wanted to entertain herself in such a manner it meant less work on his part.

After taking off his glasses he looked them over, then set to trying to clean them off best he could with a damp shirt as Nadiya continued to chatter next to him. He gave her a glance as she asked him about the future... but decided not to answer. It wasn't that his plans were a giant secret but as things stood he really had no idea what the future held. He thought that he did at one point but those plans had all fallen through. Giving a shrug as she continued he said, "I collect money because everything required to stay alive calls for it. Nothing so interesting as the others that you've met with. What do you do with what money you come across?" Let's see if he could get her to talk about herself instead of asking so much about him he thought to himself idly.

"So much for special occasions." Quipped Nadiya as she trudged along, "Maybe the gods were telling you that it's best to work without big groups." She teased lightly, "Though I suppose if they truly wanted you to be completely alone then I wouldn't have fallen as well." The Matori smiled towards Steel Eyes, "Right?"

She wanted to keep being perky, but it was rather sluggish travelling with her heavy skirt in her arms and her satchel. Giving a small sigh Nadiya glanced around before pausing so that she could open her arms and drop the piece of clothing, "I suppose material things can always be bought again." She commented with a faint murmur before shaking her head and forcing herself away from it. It would be another good excuse to travel to Belrea again - though the caravan should have had at least two trunks of her belongings from her travels.

As Steel Eyes answered her Nadiya gave a pout, "You're right so not interesting." She replied, "How am I supposed to spin a good story with that, Mister Practical?" The Matori pursed her lips as she paused in her walking to study him. Was there truly no drive behind his actions? It seemed like such a lonely life - was there anyway she could....no surely he didn't wished to be bothered by her. But dammit she was a nosey type that hated to see someone being so...withdrawn? Was that even a good word for it? At his sudden question Nadiya actually laughed, "Me? I get it for survival as well! That way I can meet more mystery men by getting tossed off of a cliffside by bandits~ It's a great way to get to know a person, ya know." She teased as she started moving forward again. He could try his hardest, but he would see! She was far more stubborn than anyone ever expected, "Seems like our trip might not be as easy as we hoped though." She stated suddenly as she glanced up at the darkening skies. It looked like a storm was coming and that definitely was not good for their 'afternoon walk'.

"Perhaps." Lurin was the sort of God that might do such a thing to try to get him out there again though why the God would do so when Jolanta tended to send his prayers to Dafiel was beyond him. Just the God still attempting to draw him into the light even after all of this time. Glancing up in the direction the two of them had fallen he said, "It's always possible when it comes to the Gods. It hard to say what they might want to spend their time on any given day." If Lurin had turned his eyes upon Jolanta he would be surprised for sure, but what else explained the two of them landing in water after such a height, something that had saved them from just striking the ground instead which would have left them injured or worse.

Turning his head as the girl suddenly dropped something that she was carrying he found himself starring at the piece of heavy, wet clothing. It seemed as though she was alright with leaving it behind, saying that she could just buy a new one. Should he pick it up and carry it for her? If he was back home, if he was accompanying one of the Priest or Priestesses then he'd of done so... but given that Nadiya didn't seem too broken up over the loss he decided against it. Best that he concentrated on more important things, especially since the bandits could still be out there somewhere. They didn't want to risk being overburdened if they reappeared so the skirt would be left behind.

"You needn't spin stories about me." He said, lifting one hand, waving it in a dismissive manner before he put his glasses on. Not as clean as he'd like but it was better then nothing. Once he dried out he'd see about cleaning them off in a more thorough manner. His thoughts seemed to sputter out and he turned slowly to glance over at Nadiya who seemed to be taunting him with her somewhat sarcastic response to his attempts. He gave a little sigh before he said, "If you don't want to tell me you can say as much, Miss Nadiya. I won't pry into your affairs if they are something that you don't want to share." He'd heard stories about the problems the Matorians had in the past so maybe it was to do with that?

"Hm? What do you..." He trailed off as he glanced up, looking in the same direction as Nadiya, then sighed, "Of course." There would be a storm to slow them down. He supposed it meant that they would need to do something about that, "We should figure out a place to wait out the storm. Are you aware of anywhere we can go? A grove of trees or a cave?" Somewhere they would be able to avoid the rain and perhaps build up a fire to keep warm and dry out. It might also meant close quarters though which put him a bit on edge just thinking about it.

Nadiya rose a brow in surprise at the answer, "You...are sincere." She managed before turning away. That was right - the Yaeli were a very religious and superstitious bunch. It still caught her by surprise to witness it, but at the same time she was kinda glad that he had been honest with her. Even if he didn't realize it that was a slip of information that revealed a hint of his true self to the Matori girl. And she so enjoyed puzzles and trying to piece them together so every little hint was greatly appreciated, "I would say they just like to have a good laugh. Else why shove the two of us together?" She managed in an attempt to shrug off her surprise in a playful manner.

She laughed at his honest reply, "You truly must have been born with some sternness in you rather than any playfulness." She replied lightly, "It's not that I don't mind telling you, but does it seem fair for me to be honest and spill everything about myself when you're walking next to me as tightly shut as any clam?" And then as an after thought she paused once more to glance him over, "Also just Nadiya or even Diya works, no Miss needed."

Nadiya studied the darkening skies with a slight frown, "You sure you don't want to just run through it or dance? I hear that's good for your heart." At her teasing the skies rumbled loudly and the Matori found herself taking a step closing to Steel Eyes, "Or not, I think that shelter idea is just grand." At his next question the petite Matori shook her head, "As much as I would love to have the ability I am not an interactive map. I'm just guessing our direction by the position of the sun....well by the position we saw earlier before the skies decided to turn against us." She pursed her lips, "But Matori is full of cliffs and surely we can find some crevice or a cave somewhere, we should just move quickly to the cliffs up ahead." As if to confirm her urgency the skies began to slowly pelt them with fat raindrops that came in waves hinting at the storm to come.

Would Lurin do something like this for a laugh? He couldn't say that he knew the thoughts of the God but he wasn't sure if that was it. Was it something else? Some sort of lesson that the God thought that he needed to learn? He rather that consider that instead of thinking too hard on what else it might have been, that be the curse he'd lived with flaring up... and without him having access to anyone that could help to cleanse him of it. It was instead something that he'd have to deal with on his own.

"Stern? No... it wasn't quite that." He murmured, lifting a hand unconsciously to scratch against the sealing glyph tattoos that lay on his arm for a moment before dropping his arm to his side. Turning to look over at her the Yaelian man gave a nod of his head before he said, "I understand." It seemed to be that she was hoping for a tit for tat thing, wanted to trade information about herself for information about himself. It was something that would be fair if done in that way but did he want the information? He didn't plan to meet her again so he didn't need to get to know her... but at the same time how long would the two of them be together until he got her back to a village? He wasn't sure if he could exactly ignore her for a long time without just making himself and the Yaeli in general as rude.

"I will keep your suggestions in mind, Miss Nadiya." He said, having ever been one to use full names and titles when it came to those that he traveled with both back home and here on the mainland.

So it seemed as though they weren't going to be able to find a place to avoid the rain so easily, huh? She didn't seem to know where any of the locations he'd asked about were to be found meaning that they were going to have to find somewhere by chance. Here was to hoping that Dafiel would lead them to some long forgotten place that they could hide out in while avoiding the rains. Looking over at the Matorian woman he said, "Let's do what we can to find a place then." He said, turning to lead the way along the length of the cliffs that they'd fallen from. If they were going to find a place to hide it would be along the cliffs. Something that he hoped happened sooner then later since the rains were already upon them.

Nadiya rose a curious brow, "Then...?" She murmured faintly before turning her gaze away. Perhaps there was a lot more to this Steel Eyes than he let on, especially when he had an interesting tattoo like that, "Well then if not you'll have to show some humor else I won't believe you." She chose to avoid the subject because even she had her limits to how far she would push someone about their past. If he told her then he would tell her, but she wouldn't get anything out of heckling him here - especially when they had to focus on getting to shelter soon.

"Calling me Miss makes me feel old or somethin'." Quipped Nadiya, "But I suppose I'll eventually get you to drop it." She laughed faintly before raising her hands above her head as a small protection against the warm rains, "Worse case we'll just have to take out some soap and take a bath to not waste all this water." Even as she tried to remain playful Nadiya's gaze was focused as she scanned the cliffside, "There...what do you think?" She pointed ahead as thunder boomed above them, "Seems like a possible path, right?" Maybe there was some shelter in the cliffs? Only following the trodden down path would tell...

"It's only polite, especially given that we aren't well acquainted." Though to be honest he'd still act the same even if they had met each other several times, it was just something that was second nature to him. He was one that used to serve others once upon a time ago after all. While it was something he didn't want to do any longer it was a hard habit to break.

As they walked along he nearly tripped over his own feet at the mention of her breaking out soap so that she could take a shower so as not to waste the rain water. Turning around quickly he gave her a long look, trying to figure out if she was joking or not, before he said, "I... warn me if you mean to do that so I can give you your privacy." He didn't want to be accused of being untoward and being too close if she meant to clean up in the rain. He didn't want to wander too far since there was the threat of the bug mages but he didn't want to be close enough that he might appear as a pervert. It would be a careful line to walk indeed.

Lifting his silver gaze he starred at the cliff side before he said, "Hard to say. It could be a way of getting back up or finding a cave higher up but I don't know what I think about climbing such a path in this rain." It seemed a bit on the dangerous side, "Let me check it first." He made the offer unconsciously, used to being willing to step into danger first to keep those he was traveling with safe. Something he'd mostly tried to avoid doing since coming to the mainland though.

"The polite thing would be to properly introduce each other by our names." Jabbed Nadiya back with a small smile, "Or is Mister Steel Eyes now a proper way to address someone?" It was a teasing poke, but still one none-the-less that she felt he deserved since it seemed a bit contradictory that he was telling her how to politely address someone. Hah! If anything Nadiya's blunt honesty and her boldness in any situation always seemed to escape her as it did today with Steel Eyes.

His reaction was priceless! "Privacy? Why not bathe together? We're already soaking wet anyways and it's not like our clothing is doing us much good. What's the harm in helping each other out by washing hard to reach places in this rain?" She teased while trying to appear as sincere as possible before her lips curved up into a huge grin, "Though in all honesty unless you insist on me bathing -as I hope I surely don't smell that badly- I didn't intend on actually bathing, I was just trying to make light of the situation." She finally amended after losing her straight face. Despite his cold exterior seeing glimpses of him like this made her realize that he must still be a gentleman and a bit pure at that. It made her even more eager to tease him as they went along.

"Ah, you're right." Nadiya's gaze narrowed as she studied the path thoughtfully, "Then perhaps further....no, no." She cut him off at the offer, "What am I supposed to do if you get injured? How does that make sense?" She protested for once serious, "I wouldn't feel right about that so we can deal with the rain a bit longer..." Thunder rumbled once more and the first streaks of lightning crossed the skies, "Okay so there has to be somethin'." She glanced about quickly as worry finally crossed her features. As much as she enjoyed the rain there was something about storms that kinda put her on edge.
