Quote: Webs have begun to appear all over Destiny City at an alarming pace; at first it doesn’t seem like anything to be concerned with—at first. Maybe a web over a window or door frame is the worst you see, but there have been reports of webs that cover a whole tree or even entire cars. The media cites changing weather patterns and, even though you don’t see any spiders, it’s clear you might have a problem. Arseno squinted at the webbing that he held between his gloved fingers. It was that time of year again, that time when the space between Earth and the Negaverse seemed to blur just a tiny bit more. There was the bat attack last year and the various other problems throughout, and now it was happening again. Perhaps he hadn't noticed when he was a civilian all of this weird stuff going on, but now powered, it was quite obvious and it worried him a little, only because of what could happen to his little brother. He would make sure to protect his brother better this time.
However, while he would have thought of this webbing as natural, after all, there had been that spider-apocalypse in Australia or something with webbing for miles, this seemed... different. Or at least didn't seem to come from regular old invasive species Australian spiders.
It reminded him of what happened last year between him and that lieutenant... a different sort of youma spider attack. Considering what he had learned since then, he really wondered how common certain "species" of youma really were, or at least he assumed that that is where these webs were coming from.
Early on he had summoned his weapon, using the blade to cut through what webbing he could and sometimes found that the webbing was too thick for it, which made him wonder what exactly was causing all of this... besides the obvious. Tonight he had only powered up to see what all of these webs were about and hadn't planned on fighting anyone or draining any energy, but he couldn't help but sigh in annoyance as he felt the p***k of a White Moon order nearby, and from what he could tell, it was a knight of some sort, probably a page.Infinities I'm terrible at titles XD

EWWWWWWWWWWWW. Imbrium hacked at the web with her frisbee, relieved beyond measure that she at least had that, and didn't actually have arachnophobia- just extreme disgust. She hadn't expected to wander right on into some kind of webbing, and even though she knew they were happening- yuck! Yuck, yuck, yuck. Zero of a hundred; Zero of ANY number, she could feel it everywhere. And, of course, with the feel of webbing- came the illusion of actual insects. She could try and be less displeased by the turn of events, but she'd fail. This was awful.
And after the bat attack not long ago, she was still strangely exhausted, shaking, and on edge- and this whole situation was about to flip her off it. Her snarl of frustration was accompanied by more fervent hacking at the webbing, and a hiss of victory when the strand separated from her body- only to stick to her weapon.
"You have got to be kidding me." her hiss was low, and she released the frisbee to stare at it, her hand going to her hip. Was there any less useful weapon? Even a straw could at least stab someone in the eye- the frisbee just got kidnapped by spiderwebs and maybe gave her a concussion when she threw it and it came back. Oh, wait, that was a boomerang.
What was the point of a frisbee? The magical weapon choice sucked here.

Arseno wasn't sure what the page may be thinking, but there wasn't going to be much moving around in all of these webs. He grunted and decided to slash his way a bit through some more. To the side he thought he had heard a little skittering, but he wasn't sure. After all, weren't spiders supposed to be silent? Even giant mutated ones?
He continued to make his way through and soon enough came upon the source of the White Moon aura. It seemed to be a page who was staring very angrily at a frisbee that was caught in some webbing. Well, he couldn't exactly blame her for being annoyed at hit, he often wondered why they were giving such silly items as "weapons" when he was a lieutenant.
Tonight though he wasn't in the mood to fight the page, though if he had too he would. It would just be very hard to do so with all of the webbing. He got a bit closer to her. "As much as I understand the feeling of wanting to use a 'weapon' all of the time, even one that seems pretty useless, it might be better to use your hands than try and use a frisbee as a knife."

There was a presence drawing near, an aura similar to that jagged teeth feeling, except less sharp and more like fingernails. That probably meant more trouble was coming near, and she would really like to have her frisbee back, please web. Not only was there the bad-touch feeing coming closer, but it was dark and she was surrounded by- eugh.
She pushed back a lock of red hair, scowling and tapping her toe, crossing her arms. "I'm gonna get you back," she informed the frisbee, "spiders be damned, this is a matter of principle now." Though honestly, it was probably jus a waste of energy. It would come back, right? But what if it didn't? Thin lips pursed, teal eyes turning to the person who approached, lighting on the- the thing.
"You." Pythia waved her hand to the... person, in hat, and mask, and wow what a getup. "Use your... thing. Scythe knife." she gestured. "Please." it was a clear afterthought. "And why would I want to use the frisbee as a knife? It's clearly a bludgeoning weapon, for the granting of concussions. Lord knows it's useless as s**t for anything else." The stranger certainly wasn't hopping to it, was he? She had expected him to be like- chop chopping it? And by it she meant the webbing, not her little toy.

Arseno cocked one of his eyebrows at her and grinned though his mouth couldn't be seen. This page had some attitude in her, and he found that interesting. More interesting at least than some of the other pages and senshi he had encountered. Most of them were just boring when they weren't attacking. "If want to be able to recognize something like this again," He replied, showing off his weapon a bit, making very slow motions towards the frisbee, "you better know that it's a horseman's pick. Scythes are much longer." Though he had laughed a bit at calling it a scythe knife. That was like calling a fan air mover.
He took his time as he slowly cut the frisbee free from the webbing, trying to tease her just a bit. Honestly it was pretty funny at this point, lieutenants could call their weapons back but knights couldn't? Or perhaps she was too stressed in the moment.
However it didn't last for long and he eventually got the frisbee free, though it looked less like a frisbee and more like a giant spider egg. He looked at it and then back at her. "You really want this back?" He couldn't help but grin.

Her arms crossed, lips turning downwards. She couldn't tell, but it almost seemed like she was being quietly judged by this guy, and judging wasn't helping her. She might not be able to see his face, but she knew how to speak tilted eyebrow. She spoke it all the time, and her own arched in response. "Horseman's Pick for what?" she asked crossly, and a vein in her temple twitched as she realized he was clearly trying to pick on her.
Leave it to a guy. "Oh come on." she moved closer to him, intent on invading his personal space if needed to get back her frisbee. "Yes, I want that!" oh, he was smug! "What are you doing out this late anyways? I was sure I'd be one of the only insomniacs risking her grade because of creepy spiderwebs."
Was she being careless? Probably. But he had gotten her frisbee for her instead of using his scythe-pick-horse thing to separate her head from her neck, or whatever. And was he grinning at her, now? Oooh! Her indignant grumble was clearly audible, and her face pinked with annoyance, clashing beautifully with her flaming hair. Her foot stomped down towards his, and she made grabby hands for the small disk. "Thank you for getting it back! Now give it. Please."

Arseno was having quite a bit of fun, however he knew he needed to give the frisbee back to the woman. After all, it's not like she could do much with it. "Why am I out? Seeing what the heck is causing all of this, if possible. And my home got webbed, so spider hunting it is." He replied. He didn't really mind telling her, though he was sure the Negaverse was behind it somehow, whether it was done consciously or not. But if he said that he knew it would get into a debate such as "why are you in the Negaverse?!" and blah blah blah.
Well, he knew there really wasn't a lot left to do and so he started to hand the frisbee back. "Okay, here you go." He said, holding out the frisbee for her. "I promise I won't take it this time." However his hand stopped in the middle as he saw something behind the page. There were 8 green glowing eyes suddenly staring back at him. "... Well, I think we found at least one of the culprits of these webs. " He said, trying to stay calm. He had fought against a giant spider before, he could do it again, right? "You better take your frisbee."

At least one of them seemed to be enjoying himself, as Pythia could feel her face getting redder and redder with annoyance. An emotion which paused when he answered her irritated question quite seriously. "I had mostly avoided the webbing so far. One of my professors commented his car handle had been webbed over, so he'd used it as an excuse to stay home and get caught up on grading papers. So If you're out here Spider Hunting, I guess you're not an arachnophobe. But why the Plague Doctor getup to come and mess with the little beasts?"
She reached out, reaching out as he'd stopped moving his hand forward, plucking her frisbee neatly from him. "Thank you," she said politely, removing her foot from his personal space, "I'll try not to get it stuck in any more unusual places." but he wasn't paying her much mind at the moment, and the hair on the back of her neck rose, suspiciously.
"At least one?" That intimated there might be more than one, and while logic dictated-- that didn't mean she wanted it to be so! "You know how to use that pick-scythe, right? Because this is a frisbee, not a boomerang. If I throw it, I'll have to go pick it up."

"If you must know, our outfits aren't exactly chosen by us. I'm going to guess that you didn't choose yours either." Arseno said as he got next to her and put his pick out between them and the spider. "And I only say 'at least' because there could be more than one. But let's just hope this is it." Honestly he really didn't have to be dealing with even more webs after this, especially with how hard it had been to get basic supplies. He had had to camp inside the University library a couple of times the webs were so bad.
The spider moved a bit more slowly towards them, it's pincers opening and closing a bit as it came ever closer. Arseno frowned as it came closer. There really wasn't a whole lot of space that they could move in and the only one not having any trouble was the spider itself. Last time he went against one there hadn't been webbing almost literally everywhere.
He decided to try something and turned his pick around so that the incense end of it was closer to the spider than the pointy end. The spider seemed to recoil a bit, clearly not liking the burning sensation of the smoke coming from it. Arseno smirked, knowing that he could get a bit closer to it now, or at least keep it away from them while he worked on making a little more space. "I'm going to have to ask you for some help. If you don't want to get sliced, we're going to have to make a bit more swinging room here. I can keep it away if you help me clear some of the webs?"

Imbrium glanced down at her outfit, considering the tall heels, short skirt, and bustier. Well. He had a point about the outfit thing. "A little unfortunate the magical costume designers don't take orders," she told him faintly as she took a half-step back to let him get between her and the 8-eyed- ugh. What a gentleman, right there, putting himself in a position to kill her bugs for her. "If there's more than one, my Nope will probably get us both out of here." Ugh, she hated the small versions of these nasty little thread-butts, and this one... was not small. Not even tarantula-sized.
And this one was like- it looked like it wanted to eat them, and frankly, Imbrium wanted to steal Plague Doctor's mask and pick-scythe and hack the wretched little beast to death, along with all its dog-sized kin. Opening its mandibles like she thought she wouldn't- her skin crawled, and she shuddered. "Yeah, I'll see what I can do about the webs," she agreed, "You keep that thing away. Go team."
What was she going to do with a frisbee? Whatever the hell she had to, to avoid spiders. She paused, then said, "I'm Imbrium. Figure someone needs to remember me, in case Shelob descends next." she gripped her frisbee, and began hacking some of the area more clear. "Stipid- Hairy- Effing-" teal eyes shot a glare at her eight-legged nemesis, shuddering. "We aren't that far from the edge of the park. We could probably make a break for it in a bit."

"Well, if we need your nope I'd certainly appreciate the help." He replied as the spider screeched a bit and tried to attack. Currently though he could only really try to thrust his pick at it, hoping that the spider wouldn't be smart enough to actually grab his weapon. But then again, he could just summon it back, it just seemed like such a waste of energy though!
He nodded though she probably didn't see it. "Arsenopyrite. Usually shorten it to Arseno if you don't want to pronounce all 5 syllables." Should he be introducing himself? He supposed it didn't matter. Even if she knew his name, what could she really do about it other than recognize him? Though she probably would just because of his outfit.
It seemed though that whatever Imbrium was working as the spider started to realize it had less web to stand on, and Arseno had more room to move. He smirked. "Well, we will if there's another one, but for now...!" And that is when he swung the sharp end of his pick at the spider and the familiar 'poof' of a youma followed it.
He sighed, sending away his weapon for right now. At least he could summon it in case another spider attacked. "I think we're good for now. But we should probably retreat for now."

"Beggars can't be choosers, and don't you underestimate my Nope," she told him, foot kicking out towards his ankle as she worked at the webbing, "You'll be stunned by the raw power." behind his back her lips quirked- quickly dismissed away in order for her to actually focus on helping him help her not die. Winner, winner.
"I'd say it was nice to meet you," she continued, grunting as she worked at that stupid, sticky webbing. s**t- eventually she was tugging on it with her bare hands, frankly, because her frisbee was only blunted anyway, and just kept getting in her way. "But unfortunately, the circumstances overly diminish the pleasure." Arsenopyrite- what a mouthful. Arseno was better, but- "How do you feel about being called Arsie? It's better than Arse, but I mean, you have been picking on me."
Not that she actually minded. Teasing was infinitely preferable to stabbing. When her hands started getting stuck in the webbing, she spun back to him. "That's all the space I can give you. I ho- oh!" he swung, the spider poofed. Aw yiss! Victory! "Yeah, retreat." she reached out, gripping his hand firmly in her own and tugging. "Sounds good."

"Well, it's certainly been interesting to meet you tonight. Even if there was a giant killer spider going after us." Arseno replied, nodding a bit and allowing her to take his hand. "Not sure about Arsie, sounds like you're calling me a cutsie version of a*******. Though if you prefer it, I can't really stop you." He didn't mind nicknames, but the one she had come up with was certainly a first.
He nodded at her, agreeing with the retreat. "All right, if you want to lead the way I'll follow." Not that he had a choice at this point since she had what seemed to be a death-grip on his hand. He couldn't blame her though, spiders were scary enough, giant sized ones that could treat you like a small bug meal? Especially scary.

She couldn't stop her chuckle at his reaction to the nickname, and she braved a second to turn and give him a saucy wink. "After this introduction, you earned yourself a nickname. As for how someone chooses to take it, I suppose it will tell you more about the listener than the nickname itself." Or about Pythia's sense of humor. "Either way, I'm kind of glad you didn't decide to off me along with the spider, though I suppose you still have some time left to change your mind."
The thought gave her pause, and she tried to remember her few lessons. She knew he was one of them, but what was- auras? So... he was... jagged, raw, oozing. Like the half-youma she had met, who had taken and given the starseed. Her hand trembled briefly in his own, but she pulled him anyways, after her, until they were out of the webbed area and closer to the street. The lights were much warmer than the webbed dark, and her shoulders drooped in relief, and she relaxed her grip on the man's hand.
"Well that was an adventure."

"Well, glad that I'm good enough for a nickname then." He replied, following her out of the alleyway. He shrugged his shoulders at her second comment. "I don't have anything in particular against the White Moon senshi." At least he wouldn't be one to attack them first. He only thought of them as a bit of a block towards his ultimate goal. Though they were perhaps more like road bumps. Annoying, but not worth getting angry over, unless one of them had a pothole in it, such as if the White Moon wanted to attack him.
He felt her grip relax as they got closer to the street, and let his arm fall away. He had to agree with her, it was much nicer not being in an alleyway full of webs. Or with a giant spider wanting to eat you. "Yes... I'm kind of getting tired of them myself. Went up against one last year. Not something I want to repeat every October." He replied, standing up and looking around a bit. Was it just him or did there seem to be just a bit less webbing?
He looked at the page. "Well, I suppose this is where you and I have to part ways. After all, we wouldn't want one of your allies to see you talking in a friendly way to me. Could get you in trouble." He didn't really care who saw him, though he was more likely to get punished worse for talking to the enemy. He could just claim he was getting information out of them though. "And hopefully that was the only spider around here." He said with a nod, really hoping that he was correct and they wouldn't have to be going up against another giant spider... again.
