Benedict had taken to solo patrols on the nights that Sharatan was too tired from school to join him. After all he had to set a stalwart example for the young lady, and if he lazed about at home, then she too would grow idle and possibly indolent. He could not allow such a thing to happen. His patrol took him by too many open alleys for his liking though, and he was constantly having to stop to clean his fur - and tug things out of his ribbon. It was a nice ribbon and he was loathe to be apart from it. Hopping up onto a nearby wall, his ears flat and tail flicking. It was too quiet out, and he felt on edge. He did not like this! He looked around for sign of agent or youma - but sensed nothing. He puffed up, back arching as he looked for the possible threat.

Theodore was on a round around the block while he waited for his amazing and fabulous senshi to be done with her boring human job that wouldn't allow him in the cafe. (Darn that stupid blonde!!!) Little paws pitter pattered along the side walk as he practically pranced around with his head held high and his hat fixed properly on his head.
That was at least something Miss Prissy had been able to do before that always grinning for no good reason Danny who refused to let his cute little but inside the cafe and wait for his mistress. All the big eyes and pathetic mewling in the world hadn't worked.
He was aghast at the notion. Who didn't find him cute???
Theodore was pouting as he passed by an alleyway only to stop and backtrack.
Was that?
No it couldn't....
But what if?

It was a black cat. That in itself wasn't unusual - there were plenty of black strays in the city. He'd never really had to worry about other cats before - the non-Mauvians never really gave him much trouble, and he'd only met a hand full of his fellow guardians. But this one felt, different... Wrong almost. For one - he was wearing a hat - which marked him either a vanity pet or a fellow guardian. But he was all wrong. It made his already fluffy fur fluff up more, and set him on edge. He was loathe to give up the high ground, but he hopped down, back arched and trying to make himself look as big as possible. "You!" He said - not knowing the other cat's name - or if it was another guardian. "Who are you!?" The mere existence of this dark cat felt like a personal affront! Nuxaz No worries! Things happen.

Pink eyes narrowed as he peered down the alleyway, trying to get a better look at the creature that offended him simply by existing. His nose twitched, tail flicking behind him and he could feel himself readying to deal with whatever this hooligan was.
For a moment he considered leaving only to be addressed, loudly.
"Hrmph," Theodore responded, straightening to look bigger. He was a small cat in comparison to some of the others he had met, but he was still the best as far as he was concerned.
"It's awful rude to demand a name if you're unwilling to offer your own first." He quipped with shifting paws and a snooty nose raised.
Really though, where were this cat's manners?

"I am Benedict," Benedict replied with a huff of his own. "And you are?" He did not like the tone this black cat was taking with him. Benedict was not normally a fan of violence - at least, violence begat of his own paws - but this cat was making him debate that stance. Strongly debate it. He kept moving though, trying to circle the other cat - trying to cut off escape while leaving his own avenues open.

Furry brows knitted together as he watched the other cat trying to circle him. Nope. No, he wasn't letting that happen. Every time Benedict tried to move, so did Theodore. He would not be trapped in the alleyway, no thanks.
"Theodore," he replied haughtily, jerking his chin up as if that made him better than the other cat.
At least his name couldn't be shortened to something obscene, like d**k.
"You're acting suspicious." He huffed, daring to step closer.

Benedict moved back as the other cat moved closer. "Same could be said of you, skulking about..." He said - flustered by the other cat. He'd never expected to run into something like this - it was very off putting. Like looking in a fun house mirror and seeing your twisted reflection not only staring back at you but doing something obscene and depraved. Theodore - the name sounded more like it belonged to a small rodent than a feline - but Benedict wasn't about to bandy words. No, he needed to set a good example for others (even if nobody was around to see it). So he changed course, darting forward, his forward paw lashing out to try and smack the other cat in the face, giving into the feline instincts of his body as he felt his fur fluff up as he gave a low hiss at the other. "Stay back!"

A paw swiped at his nose and he gasped like a scandalized woman.
"How dare."
Theodore stepped back, straightening his little spine as rosy eyes narrowed at the offending cat. His fur stood on end, a low hiss that might as well been a squeak slipped from his mouth as he backed up. His butt wiggled in that tale-tell sign that he was about to do and then--
Theodore launched himself at Benedict.

Benedict was not sure what he'd been expecting when he'd swatted at the other cat - but he had not been expecting... THAT. Yowling as he was tackled, he brought his bottom paws up to rake at the other cat, trying to push the now much more earnest attacker away as he tried to keep himself from getting tangled in his own ribbons. "I told you to stay back!" he hissed.

Theodore's hat had been knocked off when he collided with the other mau but for one brief moment, the dapper cat paid no heed. It had fallen wayward, just out of the way of tussling cat bodies and their hissing owners.
"Don't hit if you can't take a hit!" The puffball shouted as he was pushed this way and that but stubbornly refusing to be shoved away. Small paws swung wildly, sometimes claws out and sometimes without as he kicked and hissed back.
"You started this you uncouth bully!"

A bully?! The slander cut deep, such a horrid and base insult could not be allowed to stand! Huffing angrily, he hissed angrily, swatting his paws, pretense out the window the moment he felt claws rake against his fur and skin and allowing his own to slip their sheathes. “I GAVE YOU FAIR WARNING!” He yowled angrily. “I told you to stay back, and you invaded my space!” How dare he insult his honor so!

Theodore was a cat with a fair amount of fur and he seemed to floof up as his assailant lashed out at him again and again. "You attacked me first!" The cat exclaimed, also lashing back out at him.
Claws caught one of his shoulders and he yowled in pain.
Was he bleeding? How badly was he wounded?
How dare the other cat think he could get away with such frightful behavior.
"I was minding my own business and you rudely pranced out of the trash to harass me! You're a bully!" He shrieked, stomping forward with a twitching tail to try and slap the cat across the face, sans claws because at least he had manners.

Such brutality! This other cat was the one in the wrong - he was quite sure! He puffed up, and the unclawed slap across his face was met with an equally unarmed bat in return. "I did no such thing! I simply asked who you were!" He hissed and spat back. "You invaded my space, I have every right to defend myself!" He got up on his hind legs then, trying to pounce down onto the other cat and knock him over - if nothing else to give him an opening to break away and rush home to inform his senshi of the dangerous black cats wandering the streets!

"You hit me first!" Theodore snapped, head whipping and hat jostling from the paw across his face. His furry butt went into the air, wiggling because he was about to launch himself--
Benedict's pounce was quicker and Theodore found himself tumbling over, hindegs kicking at whatever they could to get the stupid cat off of him. "Get! OFF!" He yowled, small body rocking as he attempted to wriggle free.
He was only half successful, using his claws to drag his body out from beneath the other cat so he could get back on all fours.

"Only because you invaded my space!" Benedict hissed back, but instead of sallying forth with another salvo of paws and claws, he backed off instead - letting the other cat scramble to his feet. He turned tail then, beating feet toward the exit of the alley. He had to break away now and warn his senshi! He didn't have the time to draw this fight on any longer. "I'll be watching for you!" He hissed over his shoulder, increasing his pace to make his escape.
