FIN!

Gravina found himself to be incredibly nervous tonight. Despite how much he talked to himself about it, how he vaguely remembered the one called Manu and how Evan had mentioned the Page of Chronos was looking for him... The night sky twinkled with stars tonight, and the air was cold, but crisp, an autumn breeze hinting of the winter to come. There were many things on the Knight's mind - what it means to be human, how to repent for his past sins, how to come to terms with Benitoite's threats to kill him once he'd become a human...

Now he was being led straight to someone that knew him as a youma, and Gravina was terrified.

The concept of Manu was fuzzy at best. He remembered someone smaller than himself, someone that spoke to him despite being a youma that could easily snap him in two and devour his soul. Too kind, naive, death wish? Water and waves and screaming and sinking into darkness... the memories were jumbled like a half-destroyed puzzle. Gravina wasn't sure if he wanted to reassemble them, afraid for the emotions that would be born from such a thing.

Delilah had allowed Julian to leave if only because of Evan and the previous connection Evan had described. As Malus, he was asked to find the youma with the necklace that could sometimes think like a human. Now that he'd been found, Evan was doing his duty to perhaps provide the Page a little comfort, knowing the youma had been reborn as a man. Gravina followed dutifully beside the Senshi who originally lived in his dreams. Malus now stood as a Senshi of higher rank - Super? He thought that's what it was called. Malus looked more elaborate and fancier than Gravina remembered him from his fuzzy recollection. The senshi certainly felt more powerful, which was a comforting thing - the more powerful Malus was, the easier he could defend himself.

They were headed to the park, a magical hotspot for nighttime activities, and Gravina had hoped it would remain civil - he was still so afraid of a certain blonde General making an appearance, and had told Malus so. The Knight of Cosmos wouldn't hesitate to sacrifice himself if it meant the Senshi and Page would live.

"...Malus? Um... thank you... for doing this." The Knight was hesitant, though with much practice with his family and phone calls to Evan, his speech patterns had settled into something that resembled normal. "It's... I don't remember him much, really. I'm just... really scared. But it's... part of repenting, right? You know... facing someone you... might've hurt..."

The new power didn’t seem to give Malus complete confidence in himself but there was something clearly different in the way he carried himself. He still seemed skittish but he was always hyper-vigilant, and when he walked next to Gravina he almost even managed to look like he was comfortable and knew what he was doing. He wasn’t, not entirely, but he was far closer to it now than he was before. Going out powered up without Lysithea or Michel never really felt right, but he had to justify that he was doing the right thing—and he wasn’t alone.

Gravina would be here, and Manu, and they weren’t going to go anywhere dangerous. He was only there to help the two meet up again, and they were both nice enough that he didn’t anticipate there would be trouble.

But, he was still as prepared for it as he could be. Just in case.

He had Lysithea on speed-dial, just in case.

When Gravina spoke, he looked up at him, blinked, and flashed a quick smile before he returned his gaze to the surrounding area, keeping careful watch in the shadows of the forest.

“You don’t have to thank me, it’s the right thing to do. And I promised. So you don’t have to worry about that, or anything, really—he said he wanted to see you and he wanted to know you were okay. So I don’t think he has any hard feelings. But you really have to stop blaming yourself for anything that might have happened. You weren’t you when you were a youma. You’re you now, though, and you can do whatever you need to so that you feel better, but you don’t have to blame yourself. The Negaverse is really strong. I don’t know if anyone can fight them when they’re in your head, you know? And, it’s okay to be scared,” he was still scared, most of the time, and was just trying to come to terms with it so he could overcome it, “But tonight is going to be nice and easy, nothing scary about it. Manu’ll be here soon and he’ll tell you it’s all okay too, you’ll see.”

He smiled again and crossed his arms over his chest. He was trying not to look anxious, but he really hoped Manu got here in one piece, without any trouble.

Life seemed to be getting harder and harder as days got shorter and the night lingered on. It was coming close to the holidays, a time where joy and happiness and warmth spread all around the city, even with strange things going on, yet the normal optimism Manu had felt almost nonexistent. While times came every now and then that he would find a reason to smile, or a reason to try just as hard as he normally did, they came less and less to the point that he didn't leave his home at all at night.

Giving up wasn't in his vocabulary, but at this point he couldn't see a reason as to why he should keep as much hope has he had struggled to do. He just... There was no new news of the youma he was looking for, Bazzite. No one had seen him, no one had heard of him... And the more thought he put into it, the less he had the heart to keep looking for him.

He could tell he was worrying people at this point, but... How could he tell anyone why he was so heart broken? He couldn't just go to his sister and let her know that he just felt so hopeless because someone not something, saved him and died because of it.. He couldn't say that a non-human saved him, that he cradled him until he took his last breath... It was all so much more than he could explain.

The moment he received that message from Malus, he felt that heart of his that had reached his feet perk up higher than it had in months. This time when he sprinted out of his house, he didn't even bother to get dressed in his actual clothing or clean up his face which seemed so much more exhausted than he had been even the last time he had seen the young senshi. He just ran.

And ran and ran and ran until he made it to the meet up place, tired and out of breath.

When he saw the senshi of glass, he smiled, tired but excited and thrilled to be here, before his gaze wandered to the man standing close to him... It couldn't be... It wasn't him... Was it? That soft blue hair was far too familiar.. He didn't wait for introductions, or a greeting, no, he was far too exhausted to think of it, and he immediately went to the young man who stood beside Malus.

"Is... Is this him...? Are you... You were the one who saved me, right?"

Gravina was surprised when the Page of Chronos ran straight to him, gasping quietly and taking a step back. The young man wasn't sure what to think, aside from being so focused on his anxiety that he hadn't thought about what to say once Manu had arrived. The Cosmos Knight's eyebrows raised, as if he was unsure whether this was the true Manu or not. The outfit seemed correct, at least, from what his spotty memory could piece together.

Gingerly, Gravina reached out to touch Manu's larger arm, fingers tracing over the muscles.

He'd been bitten. That memory was quite clear.

Stifling a sniffle, Gravina covered his mouth as tear began to p***k at the corners of his eyes. "You... you're bigger... than I r-remember, but... but I... I h-hurt you, didn't I? I... I'm s-so s-s-sorry..." What did someone say to their victim? What could a reborn human say to the Page he'd nearly crippled? He, as Bazzite, could have easily torn Manu's arm clean from its socket and permanently disabled the man and perhaps ruined his life. It was horrifying for Gravina to relive, even in bits and pieces, but this wasn't about him and his feelings.

This was about Manu, and bringing the Page some closure.

The young man's lower lip quivered and his breathing was labored, trying not to dissolve into tears and sobbing. Manu had every right to be angry with him, for injuring his arm, no matter how grievous the injury could have been. Manu was the victim here, and the Page had every right to be angry with him, to exact revenge. Gravina was prepared for that.

Wringing his hands, the Knight continued. "I don't... I don't remember... everything, but... I'm glad you're okay. I want to... repent... for everything that I did, when I was... like that." Gravina couldn't even bring himself to say it, to remember Bazzite in this moment, even by name alone. "S-so... if you're angry... I don't mind... This is... what I'm supposed to do, to... to try to make things right."

He looked to Malus then, in that moment. Did Evan feel the need to repent? Did he do terrible things to people? Probably not - he was a small youma, and more feral, and was only like that for a year. Evan probably didn't have the blood on his hands that Gravina did.

Malus offered a polite smile; his brows seemed perpetually knit but he greeted Manu silently, afraid to interrupt anything between him and Gravina. He was important in this only as the facilitator of their meeting, and just to make sure that everyone was okay. He was paranoid about running into trouble himself, and so, by extension, he wanted to help make sure these two were safe and protected while they met up again.

He rocked on his heels quietly and drew in a calming breath. He was content to stay silent—until Gravina looked at him. He felt suddenly like he had to say something, and a bit of anxiety bubbled in the pit of his stomach as he tried to muster up some words.

Quietly, as if he was afraid of interrupting, he told the Knight, “Just make sure you aren’t beating yourself up in the process, okay? You’re allowed to try and make things better, but you went through a lot, too. So don’t beat yourself up. You’ve had enough of that, too.”

He glanced to Manu with pleading eyes, silently imploring for backup on the matter.

Manu was taken aback by the sudden onslaught of tears and begging of forgiveness by Gravina. He listened, worried, letting the other touch him and have his say, all the while trying to give him the space he needed to gather his thoughts. Every so often his gaze turned to Malis, trying his best to make sure the other knew he had no intention of harming him, nor the mournful one before him.

One word was too much, one tear, too many, and Manu couldn't stop himself, his hand coming up to cup Gravina's cheek gently, thumb brushing over the tear trails left behind.

"I'm more than happy to see you alive... I worried for you, I spent every night since our last meeting looking for you... I knew you were out there, scared, alone, and wanting something that seemed to allude you so long, and It hurt so badly that I couldn't help. But you are here now! You are here and alive and soft and warm!" For a moment, the bearded man almost felt his own tears threatening to spell, but his expression melted to a smile. Those same mighty arms that had been torn up not so long ago now wrapped around Gravina, tightening around him in an embrace that had been waiting to happen for months.

"I don't know anything about needing to repent, but you can't repent if you aren't well... Are you well? Are you living somewhere safe? Are you well fed and taken care of? Please, tell me... If not, I can help, but I just need to know you are safe..."

It's fine~ <3

"M-Malus is... he's... he's helped... very much... A-and the o-others... the o-ones who... who f-fixed me..." Gravina was enveloped in strong, warm arms and let go what fragile control he had to weep into the Page of Chronos. Malus was always there to help, and the Senshi of Glass was truly the only other one who understood. Julian could talk to Evan whenever, about whatever, and it was Evan's strength, determination and kindness were sometimes the only thing that allowed Julian to get through the day.

Malus was level-headed and understood all too well the mixture of emotions that came with rebirth, and his gentle reminder not to be too hard on himself was met with a trembling nod from the Knight. Gravina couldn't - and wouldn't - make any promises, but he would try his best.

Taking a few steps back, Gravina held his trembling fingers together in a bundle and held it under his chin out of anxiety. Malus would recognize the gesture as one Julian performed during their first meeting. "W-well? Um... yes. Y-yes, I... I get to eat, now, a-and... a-and, Delilah, she... lets me... live with her, at least... for a little w-while. Sh-she said... it wouldn't be... f-forever, but... th-that's okay."

Gravina closed his eyes, nodding to himself. Really, giving him this incredible salvation was more than enough. He could be homeless, but still human, and be incredibly grateful. A few calming breaths and the Knight continued. "And... and Malus, he's nice enough to... talk to me on the phone, and... he told me about you, that you... were looking for me. Th-that wasn't very safe, but... I'm glad... I could see you again, not being... blue."

"It sounds like you found some very kind people to help you then. I'm glad for it, and apologize for not being able to help more. It was all I could do to keep searching for you. Words simply cannot describe how worried I was." It seemed unnecessary to go into detail about how badly he had let himself go.. Part of it being how alone he felt, and another part troubled by the fact that Bazzite had died that night. Perhaps temporarily but he died in Manu's arms, and he never could thank him for saving his life.

"I'm... Unsure of what to say. It seems like a dream, finally seeing you again. I feel almost corny saying that my heart ached, knowing that you could be out there somewhere, hurting and confused... But here you are! Alive and well! I could ask for nothing more than that." Manu wanted to go closer, to hold him close again and just know that he was alive and well and there before him, but with how the Cosmos knight was acting, he truly didn't want to rush it. Instead, he reached out to take his hand, giving it as gentle of a squeeze as he could.

"If there's anything you need, please, let me know... I'm Manu, remember? The one you saved and the one who owes you his life, no matter what you may think. I'm here for you should you ever need me."

We can probably wrap soon, if not within your next post?
Maybe Manu can give his contact info and they part ways? smile

Kyuseisha no Hikari
Thank you for your help in facilitating this!!

Gravina gave a silent nod. "...M-Manu. Yes, you're... the strange Page. The one who... talked to a youma, as if he was a person."

There were memories there, buried deep in his dismembered psyche, of a fountain and a forest and a lake, somewhere... there was blood and screaming, and an incredible amount of pain. It did not compare to the pain of rebirth, but it ranked highly. Gravina's brows furrowed for a moment before he realized what to do next - with a few clumsy movements, the Knight pulled his civilian cellphone from subspace, something Sita had taught him to do. With trembling fingers and intense concentration, Gravina pulled up his cellphone number on the phone's menu, just like he'd been taught, and showed it to Manu.

"Malus... he has my number, too, and we talk and text a lot. It helped me practice with more fingers than I had before. And... I have my new family here, too. Can... can I... call you sometimes? Or maybe... send a picture? Would... would you... be my friend, M-Manu?"

Maybe, just maybe, friendship would be the best way to repent for disfiguring the Page's lovely tattoo, all those nights ago.
PostPosted: Mon Feb 05, 2018 11:57 am

"The strangest Page out there, yup, that's me. I talked to a youma as if he were a friend, because on those few dark nights, he was." His words were accompanied by a gentle smile, and with one final squeeze, he let go of Gravina's hand, not wanting to overwhelm both the new human and himself. Manu wouldn't lie, tears had been forming in his eyes, but for once, they were tears of joy. Little tears of joy, few enough that he hoped the two other men wouldn't see them.

As he watched Gravina pull out his own phone, he simply nodded, happily taking it and putting in his number without hesitation.

"I am already your friend, and I am happy to keep being your friend as long as you want. Hehe, honestly I don't think you could get rid of me at this point. But yes, I will be you friend, and want to see everything you want to send me a picture of." After he handed the phone back to the smaller man, he stepped back, gaze turning to Malus and nodding to him.

"And I owe you... Thank you, Malus. I swear, I owe you my very livelihood. If you ever need anything, please, don't hesitate to ask."
