Itotia
Itotia was in her room, packing a bag with the things she might need for the trip. She had already gone to Aseara and requested permission. It took a little bit of discussion, but she was able to show that she patently waited for the woman to have her children grown, and a few weeks of travel was well deserved after all she did the past years. That, and her promise that no, she was not running away and that yes, she would return. Really, all she was doing was returning home for her festival, and then she would come back to continue to build her legacy and plan her haven for the many yaeli who were keen to explore this new world.
The hardest part now was figuring out what type of outfit she should bring. Did she bring the brighter colors of the land that she was now so used to, or bring some muted outfits that better matched the yaeli way. Stepping back, she let out a huff before shaking her head and leaving everything where it stood. She needed to go shopping for a traveling cloak anyway, so she might as well put that issue aside for another day. Walking through the halls of the Red, she waved to those who she passed and ignored the customers who eyed her. Even now, years after joining the Red, she still was such a wonder to the patrons when she performed or managed the space.
Stepping outside into fading sun, she covered her eyes a moment before judging the time. She had little time to make it to the market, so she didn't have time to waste.

Kres
Kresimir’s days had fallen into an easy routine as his time in Oba lengthened. Various jobs here and there to pay for his room, he'd wander the market in his spare time listening to street performers and the like before he'd buy ingredients to make his own dinner. There was nothing wrong with going somewhere to eat, Oban food had its own allure. But growing up with two parents who enjoyed cooking left a little part of him that also enjoyed it. It was a bit like "bringing a bit of home" to his current residence. Even though he'd resided in Oba for long enough for most to call it home, he couldn't seem to do so. Perhaps he was homesick for Jauhar.
It helped him to be able to find some ingredients from Jauhar to be able to make his meals. So he was off to a few certain merchants that he knew carried quality Jauharan ingredients. Whether it was just a coincidence that they happened to set up shop near the RA where a certain someone lived would remain a mystery to him.
Though, as if appearing from his memory, familiar hair appeared through the crowd, she seemed as though she was on a mission and Kres wondered if he should even catch her attention. He cleared his throat as he debated. "Itotia!" Kresimir called out.

Itotia
Hearing her name thanks to the dwindling crowds, Itotia turned and looked searchingly to where it came from. Had someone from the RA called out to catch her before she left? Most knew that if she was leaving, they had little time to catch her or would need to wait until her return. She rarely allowed others to journey with her, enjoying the time to herself and the brisk walks to get lost in the crowd. It was only after she turned that she realized the voice was actually one very familiar, and an easy smile tilted the tips of her lips.
Kres had grown quite a bit since she first met him, as had she in a different way. The new Itotia took a moment to appreciate the taller man as he approached, but she hid her gaze quickly less he catch on to her actions. She played it cool and waited for him to approach to give him a nod.
"Fancy seeing you on this side of town, Kresimir. Are you planning on visiting the Red this evening?"

The shifter smiled in return once he was spotted among the others in the market. A bag of some ingredients was in his left hand and he waved with his other. They always seemed to meet in the market it seemed, while each were off on various errands. It never seemed to be an issue especially of late where Itotia wasn't as hesitant as she once was. The memory of their first meeting made his smile ever so slightly brighter. She had been so afraid which kres supposed he couldn't blame her for. But that was in the past, which seemed forever ago but wasn't in the grand scheme of things.
"There's a particular merchant over this way that always has the best ingredients from Jauhar. When I start missing home I come buy some and make dinner with ingredients from home." He held the small bag open to her to see various fruits and mushrooms. "I was thinking in stopping by, will you be there later?" He hoped it wasn't too forward of him to ask and quickly motioned for her to continue if she wished and they would walk and talk.

Itotia
The yaeli hummed, nodding slowly. It was an easy association now, to understand the locations of the world of Tendaji. So long ago she was lost, trapped in her lack of knowledge of the world. Now, she could easily move through if she wanted to, even if she had never traveled beyond the sands. She made sure to study, to understand as much as she could. It seemed that Aseara's nagging really rubbed off.
"It seems more merchants are establishing themselves here...I've even heard rumors of Belrean wares showing up in the far corners of the market..." She shrugged at that, curious but not concerned to check out the reports from the younger girls. Leaning forward, she glanced at the mushrooms and marveled a moment at their coloring. Jauhar always had such interesting items that reminded her of home thanks to their glow. Seeing his gesture, she began to slowly walk toward the merchants that she wanted to purchase some items from, before continuing the conversation.
"I am just stepping out to pick up some items. I wont be dancing for the near future, as I've gotten permission to travel home for a short leave...It took some time, but Aseara finally trusts me enough to not run away and never return..."

Kresimir nodded, he'd seen a few of the new people from across the sea around oba. Just like when the yaeli first made their way across the water, news traveled fast. Of course with the yaeli more people thought it was more rumor than truth but with the belreans people seemed more inclined to believe airships than people with glowing eyes. "There are a few that I've seen around but never when I've had the time to check out their wares."
As they started walking again and Itotia told him the reason for her outing his step faltered and stuttered as he regained stride with her. "I understand why Aseara might be worried about losing you." He glanced sideways at her, a small hint of sadness in his eyes. He'd grown to enjoy these little encounters and would be sad that they'd be at an end for an undetermined length of time.
Once again, he smiled at her, "Will you be visiting family? I bet it's hard to be so far away from them."

So focused on finding the vendor she needed, she missed the look and stutter from Kres. Odds are she would tease him or give him a bit of a look had she seen it, but he got away with it for now. Luckily for him, she was distracted in thought. Pausing as she saw the vendor, one well known for making quality cloaks and one who she commissioned a few weeks prior for a beautiful cloak that was dark on the outside, but held colors of the sunset on the inside. It was a mix of Oba and Yael, and perfect for a trip.
"The Yaeli travel to the Sanctum twice a year to pray to our gods. It is required, much like those Alkidike girls up north, and one I haven't been able to journey to for quite some time..." Walking up, she nodded to the vendor and handed the second half of the cost, taking a bundle and finally turning to Kres, "I wish to make amends to the gods, and then return to settle in to my new life here on the mainland. It seems that my people may need me more on this side of the sea..." She trailed off, looking at his smile for a moment and giving him time to respond.

The shifter resisted sighing as it seemed his surprise went unnoticed. Relieved, he followed Itotia through the market stalls. They stopped in front of one known for their cloaks, a vendor Kresimir had always admired but not yet purchased anything.
"Ahh.." Well religious meetings were definitely a reason to go back home. He knew how the Alkidike could be about such things so if Itotia was comparing it to them it must be a pretty big deal indeed. Kresimir’s smile grew ever so slightly as she mentioned she would be returning to the mainland afterwards, so at least he knew she'd be coming back eventually. "What is yael like, Itotia? If the elders had thought to send the extremists there I wouldn't immediately think it would be a very....nice place. Though I'm guessing they didn't know your people called Yael home or else they wouldn't have chosen it as exile for them."

"This is all I need...are you set here?" She asked a moment, wondering if they should walk more or if he could walk back to the Red. She did move away from the vendor to allow other patrons to shop as she answered his question.
"Yael is...different. It's hard to describe, because it is so different than the sands here. I would argue that this land is worse, because of the fact no one can survive if they are away from a village. In Yael, at least you can find a way to thrive on the side of the island where everyone is. From what I heard, the Alkidikes were banished to the other side, where it's been nearly impossible for us to settle."
She paused again in thought, "There are a lot of forests, and creatures that are dangerous like our Keldari. But it's not terrible, otherwise we wouldn't call it home. It's just...dull." Dull, the only way she could really describe it compared to the colors and heat of Oba.

Kresimir nodded as the yaeli stated she had gotten all she needed from the merchant. "I believe I have gotten everything I need and the rest is already at my room." He listened intently as she described yael in a way that was biased yet not at the same time. "I see..." Kres said softly as he thought about it. It was odd that the side that the yaeli weren't able to survive on one side of the island but the Alkidike and their new elaria were. "I don't know that I would consider this land worse, granted I have never been to your home, but I've heard that there are small little oasis' hidden in the desert. Perhaps the reason why we don't really think people are out there are just because they're hidden. Surely there were such places the Matori found while Oba still had them enslaved." His mouth quirked as he thought about it. So different were all the lands that had been discovered yet now they all lived in a tentative peace.
As if suddenly deciding something, he nodded and turned to Itotia. "Can I accompany you to Yael?" Kresimir watched her closely for any sign of rejection, he would understand if she said no and would respect her decision as he remembered how Itotia was

Itotia
Itotia was caught off guard, and paused a moment to turn to Kres. She looked intently at his face, reading his expression for a long moment and collecting her words. He wanted to journey with her to her home, where he would feel even more of an outsider than he did here? Why would he want to do such a thing, unless he really did seem interested in her. The other girls would gossip occasionally, thinking she wasn't listening when they whispered every time he visited. They called him her admirer, but was that the case. Itotia brushed it off, but now...she wasn't so sure.
"You...want to come to Yael?" She repeated slowly, before her face relaxed from the confused expression. She shrugged, "It wont be an easy trip, but I don't mind having someone to go with me. I'm sure they will treat me just the same as they will treat you..."

Kres
The surprise on her face was pretty clear and Kresimir supposed he could understand why, especially as she continued. He knew it'd be a long trip, he had taken time talking to merchants who spoke of their time traveling to Yael so for Kres, he had a pretty good idea of what to expect, or so he thought.
Kresimir frowned slightly, would his presence affect her negatively? From how Itotia phrased it, it didn't seem so but that she would be treated differently anyhow; with or without his presence. "They will treat you differently?" He paused, a hand outstretched, gently touching her shoulder. "I'm not concerned with how they'll treat me. And yes, I would like to go with you, if you'll have me." Perhaps he was being too forward. Perhaps she just wanted to go and see her family and celebrate their religious holiday. Perhaps. But he felt compelled to ask, to go with her.

Itotia laughed, but it was different than her normal laugh. It was soft and light, as if she truly was laughing at a joke and not at the irony of her life. Shaking her head, she reached out to brush her fingers across the hand on his shoulder, as if reassuring him about the surprise he had.
"I'm an outcast. I journeyed to the mainland, where the darkness resides, and lost the glow of my eyes. Even if I dress like them, one look at my face and they will know. I'm different, and they will only see me as cursed by our gods."
Shaking her head as if to brush the thought away, she glanced around a moment, "Very well, I know I would enjoy it if you came with me. Although I might be the one protecting you...I doubt any Yaeli will attack, but they will by no means be kind to you if you approach them..."
Her smile turned bitter before she let her hand drop, "Would you walk back to the Red with me?"

"HMF." Kresimir made a noise of displeasure. He had grown up with his family being so accepting of others and while he had gotten a taste of things with oba, it was hard for him to imagine a whole people turning on one of their own for simply changing a little bit. "That's just....rediculous. My sister came home with gold eyes one day and no one questioned her or thought differently. To treat you differently because you're with a shifter, that could be understandable. But because you lost the glow to your eyes? Hmf. They all think they're cursed anyway right so maybe your eyes losing their glow means you're not." He mused, a slight protective nature rising in him to defend her from these currently unseen foes.
"If you're going to protect me I'll gladly let you. I'll hide behind my shield in case they try to curse or hex me too." Kresimir teased. There had been all sorts of assumptions when the yaeli was first discovered which most of course tended to just be rumors. In any case, he motioned for her to continue. "Of course I'll walk you back. Is there anything else you need help to get ready?"

"It's just the way they are." She responded calmly with a shrug, not bothered at all by the fact and barely surprised with how bothered he was. Kres had a heart of gold, and always tried to make sure she was safe an accepted. He had no true idea about her past and she never really bothered to explain to him as well. It was her past and she was alright with it.
Then she laughed, "We do not curse or hex. The gods do enough of that for us." Shaking her head, she began to walk back and thought over his question, "I know I need to travel to the Matori border to get to the ships. Then we go across the sea and most likely will struggle to find any place to stay..."
