Name: Cesare
Age: 18
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Whatever best suits his needs.
Craft: Courtesan (Diplomacy specialty)
Rank: Journeyman
Location: Western Weyr
Physical Description: Cesare has all of the fervor and presence of a young lion who is utterly sure of his place in the world. He has golden brown eyes, olive skin, and dark brown hair that waves almost into a curl. There is an intensity about his visage, as though he is burning from the inside, though he does not appear sickly.

Personality: If ever there were a young man who could inspire blind loyalty from others, that man would be Cesare. He was born a natural leader, and has a palpable charisma that was only honed by his time at the Courtesan Hall. He believes, purely and utterly, that if he wills something to be so, it will be so. And he matches action to word. While he is in many ways a slippery young man, there is no denying that he has a strong sense of internal values, whether or not those personal values might align with those of the rest of Pern. He values devotion in his followers, and is not above giving it in return. Beware, however, for Cesare's first loyalty is to his cause, once that of advancing his father, now that of advancing himself. If he were to return to the life of a Holder's son, he would shift his focus back, but for the time being every move is calculated to bring him the greatest advantage.

He is fierce. If he has the appearance of a lion, he has the strength to match it. He holds himself with a poise that belies such strength, and fits neatly into whatever situation he finds himself in. He does not fear to take risks, but ensures that they are well calculated. And besides, if he were in true danger, Migel would take the blow for him. Although he knows precisely what he wants and means to achieve it, he is also not afraid to give kindness. He is not, by nature, a cruel young man, although he can display fits of temper from time to time.

His inexperience can lead him to taking chances that to not play out well, and making enemies where he should make friends. However, he is often able to recover from such missteps, a smooth and glib young man as he can be. He is zealous in his pursuit of power and influence, to the point of near obsession. Still, he is young yet, and there is the possibility to change his focus even now. In the negatives, he is slow to forgive, swift to anger when he has been crossed, and duplicitous. Many would forgive him, for he is quite able to win the hearts of those around him, should he so choose, and should they be so willing.

Positive Trait List Eloquent, diplomatic, powerful
Negative Trait List Duplicitous, arrogant, unyielding
History: The son of a minor mining holder, Cesare was born into a position of considerable privilege. While the Hold was small, it was not without its riches, nor without its influence. Cesare, as the second son, was expected to bring further wealth, prosperity, and sway to the family. And so, it came as something of a surprise when he befriended a poor farmer's son by the name of Migel. Such a tie could surely bring nothing to the Hold, or so his father initially thought. When his playing with the boy led to Migel spending considerable time visiting him in the Hold, and Cesare at Migel's family farm, it became somewhat unclear just which boy was which. At least to outsiders.

This came in handy one day when he was visiting his dear friend. His own uncle had sent a small band of armed men to take him captive. The only problem was that they couldn't tell which child was which, for they both fit the same general description, and both had been seen frequenting the Hold and farm alike. Migel quickly proclaimed that he was Cesare, and Cesare declared that Migel was not! In perhaps one of the most selfless acts of his young life, the Holder's son tried to save his friend, but Migel, whose loyalty was unquestionable, refused to give him up.

When the hired men threatened the lives of Migel's parents, neither child gave the other up. Nor did Migel's parents, who each died preserving the boy's identity. Both boys were taken, for the bandits could not determine who was the Holder's son, and who was the farmers' boy. Cesare's father, who had gathered up search parties to find his lost boy, was able to use the time bought by this courageous act to down the hired thugs who dared to take his son captive.

Upon discovering that Migel had lost his parents as a result of his bravery and loyal defense of Cesare, the Holder was filled with a profound sense of guilt. Also, of responsibility. He felt that he owed it to the boy to raise him as his own. It hadn't escaped his notice that having another young boy around had proved quite useful, especially as it had seemingly saved his son's life, or prevented him from being used against the man. They were of the same age, and looked similar enough to fool even men who had surely been given a portrait of Cesare, however poor the likeness had been.

From that point on, they did everything together. Every lesson Cesare received, Migel also received. Every tutor taught Migel to fight as they taught Cesare, to read, to think, to act as Cesare, if need be. While they were never put in such danger again, it was not the last time that someone attempted to kidnap the boy to use against his father. It was, however, the only time that they came so close to succeeding.

To Cesare's private frustration, Migel far outstripped him in the physical arena, quite capable of besting him in a swordfight, and then some. However, Migel could not match Cesare's quick tongue and swifter thoughts. They each possessed abilities that would prove useful to 'their' father. And so, in due course, he chose to send his two boys off to be trained at the Courtesan Hall. There, Cesare would learn to be the diplomat that his father had always wanted, and Migel would better learn to be Cesare's bodyguard. Although it was never announced to anyone that Migel would be attending as anything more than Cesare's companion, he received lessons in secret to teach him the assassination and spycrafts. This would allow him to better protect his dear friend.

Armed with the knowledge he'd gained at the Courtesan Hall, Cesare felt ready to face the world, and was chafing under the restraints his schooling placed upon him. So, when they were out on a mission to increase his father's lands rights (or to the public eye attend a runner race,) he was intrigued when a dragonrider approached them on Search. At first it seemed that the man intended to take Migel alone, and he was outraged by the very idea of being parted from his friend (and after all, did not he, Cesare, deserve to be found on Search himself?) but quickly became jubilant when the man clarified that they were both suitable for the role. As a dragonrider, he would surely have further opportunities to prove what a worthy young man he was, and to ever improve the standing of their Hold, of their father. He accepted without reservation, declaring that it would be so.

It has not yet occurred to Cesare that they might not both Impress, for he has never conceived of the idea of being parted from Migel. Will not, in fact, hear of it. Surely both are more than acceptable Candidates, and will be viewed favorably by any dragon shelled on Western sands. The idea of facing Thread does not frighten him as perhaps it should, but rather emboldens him. Any opportunity to prove himself and his mettle will be met with a strength of purpose difficult to match. He will prove him, he will succeed, and he will not give up until he has exactly what he came for.

Other: He is an exceptional strategist who excels in most games that require planning and an understanding of logistics.
