Her cat was yowling.
That was the first thing she was aware of. She squeezed her eyes more shut and tried to roll over to bury her head in the covers to drown out the yowling.
She was unable to move.
Alex frowned and pushed with her hands, trying to find the source of why she couldn't move. Except, she couldn't push very far before she came into contact with something very warm and hard.
Green eyes shot open and she came face to face with a very real, and very asleep Rene. She looked down and immediately looked back up, cheeks flushed. Well this was...
Nice, very nice if she was being truthful, but also rather awkward and her brain started going down paths she really tried not to anymore. It was one thing to share a kiss and sleep cuddled up after a harrowing experience like the Mirrorscape, but what if that's all it was? Would they go back to how they were, the two 'we're done with your BS' knights standing in the corner? Would it go further?
Her thoughts flew half a mile a minute and tried to not overthink. Tried to.

Rene groaned in his sleep as the cat yowled and voiced it's irritation. "Lightbringer, shut up." Rene whined, still very much asleep and not in the mood to wake up any time soon. "I'll feed you in a bit just... lemme sleep.." He mumbled, curling into the warmth.
Except something was pushing at him. Again he groaned. "Doomhammer... Get off my bed. It's too warm..." He grumbled with a sigh as he turned to shove his dog off the bed. His eyes opened and he blinked slowly. He tilted his head to the side, as he sleepily blinked at Alex. The young man made a soft noise, confused. What was she doing here? Ah well.. He'd figure it out later. His head turned slowly as he looked for his dog. After a few moments of unsuccessful searching, Rene gave up and buried his face back into his pillow.
Then, after another few seconds, Rene's eyes snapped back open and he looked at Alex.
Oh
Rene lurched backwards, face turning red. "So-s**t!" He yelled as he tumbled off the bed.
If the floor could just open up, and eat him now, that would be great.

Oh she was awake now.
Alex, in her own little panic, scrambled backwards a bit and blinked at him. It took a moment for her heart to stop beating like a drum. She rubbed her eyes, silently cursing herself for not taking her contacts out before they slept. He was half blurry but adorable with the red cheeks.
Quick assessment confirmed that both parties were still clothed - he was in a pair of her sweats, huh... - and the yowling cat in question had bolted once he'd hit the floor. So they really just... napped. Alex glanced at the time. For seven hours... ish.
"Uh... hi. How's the floor treatin' ya?" she asked, voice shaky as she scooted to the edge of the bed and peered down at him. An embarrassed smile curved her mouth but she looked more amused than anything else. Certainly not angry at him. Gods she could never be angry with him... frustrated and tearing her hair out but never angry... he was too damn.... precious to her for that.
Woah Nelly hit the reverse for a bit there.

"...I wish it would eat me right now." He mumbled, blush darkening as his flew down to cover himself.. Rene cleared his throat awkwardly, trying to look anywhere but at her. "I uh... Yeah. Sorry. Can't... control that?" He offered weakly.
"I uh... I swear I didn't justs climb in there with you. I was asking where you wanted me to sleep and you kinda just grabbed my arm and pulled me down with you??" Rene shifted slightly, finally looking at her. "H-how are you doing??? Are you feeling alright??"

"Ah ahah hahahhahahahahah" she began to laugh, doubling over on the bed as the laughter shook her torso. It was just so... absurd and awkward and the only she could do was laugh because otherwise the tension was going to swallow her up. Alex wiped her eyes as the laughter pittered out and she gave him a sheepish smile.
"S-sorry, I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing at the awkwardness and... yeah," apologized Alex, who propped herself up. She'd pulled him down, huh? Somehow this didn't surprise her, honestly. Not that she'd mind if he had just climbed into bed, but it was kinda early in their... relationship? for that.
She yawned and stretched, several joints popping. "Besides feeling like my eyeballs are dried up, I slept really, really well. Better than I have in a while, to be honest... How did you sleep?"

Rene snorted quietly, finally sitting up. "Just you wait for your awkward moment to happen. Won't be laughing then will you?" He teased lightly, tentatively leaning back onto the bed. "I'm not surprised your eyes feel like that... Mine do too... We both did our fair share of crying in the last twenty-four hours..." Understatement. "But... I feel like I slept better than I have in a long time." He had been content. No nightmares to plague him for once. He paused, considering his next words. "So... As if things weren't... " His gaze flickered downwards to his lap for a second before returning to her. "Awkward... enough right now... Where do we go from here?"

"Where do you want this to go?" she asked him, scooting over and leaning on her elbows. Where did they go from here, Alex wondered? Did they become something more? She didn't think they could just... go back to being how they were before. But... did she want more?
She could see them being more. She could imagine it. It might even be... normal. Shocking. As normal as two knights of the universe could be while fighting Chaos and being judgemental at the Code. She was willing to try, at least. To see where it went and what they became.
"I'm willing to see where this goes, and what we become," she said after a moment, cheeks turning red.[Mistress Morbid] HOW DARE YOU GAIA KEEPING ME FROM MY SHIP

"I'd... uh... I'd like to see where this happens." He said, trying not to trip over his own words. Rene fidgeted slightly looking anywhere but her, nervous. Was this the smartest idea? They'd definitely done dumber but... This could end up putting them both in danger. "I've... Only done this once before... and that didn't end on a happy note." Rene snorted softly, trying not to think of his friend. "I've... never had a girlfriend before." He admitted. "Hell, I didn't even think I was into girls." Maybe she was just different.
No. She was different.
"I just.. I don't want to see you get hurt, because of me."

"I've... dated guys before, and had a thing with, uh, Themiscrya that was... not fully developed I guess, that was bled over from our future memories? But she's kinda more like a sister to me these days," she admitted herself. Alex had never really... labeled herself one way or another. Some days she was bi, others pan, and most of the time? It took a lot of time and emotion to really get together with someone. Demi-romantic, then? Maybe? Honestly, there were too many titles and none of them really fit.
"Mostly want a... connection, over what's in or not in your pants," she added, "Not that I don't really like that sort of thing, it just isn't a... deciding factor, ya know?"
Probably more information for this conversation than necessary, girl. Come on.
Alex smiled at him and raised her eyebrows at him. "I'd be more worried about you getting hurt, Squire of Mercury. And, Rene, if we get hurt... we get hurt. We're kind of like... magical superheroes after all. While I don't promise to stay out of harm's way, I promise I won't take any unnecessary risks, alright?" she asked him, gently turning his face to look at her.

Rene blinked. "I remember Themiscrya... I'd seen you two together a couple of times... Then she was just gone." Rene would be lying if he said he hadn't been slightly curious about what had happened. He thought the two worked well together, not just from a romantic standpoint He snorted quietly, shuffling in place. "My future memories... My relationships then, affected how I acted as a Half Youma... I think it was the only bit of humanity I retained."
He snorted again, this time grinning. "I don't know, earlier you were laughing about what was going on in my pants." He teased. "But yeah... A connection. After everything that's happened, I think it's safe to say somethings there at least."
Then he fixed her with a deadpan stare. "I'm constantly getting hurt. You know this. I'm pretty sure there's no saving me from it. The only thing we haven't figured out is if my deaths going to be at the hands of the Negaverse, or my own dumbself causes it." He paused, mulling over his words. "My money's on myself honestly." He'd done it once... Or at least, attempted it. "But... I promise to try and be less of a self inflicting dumbass."
No more attacking General Sovergiens and then getting kicked down a flight of stars after being starseeded.

Alex smiled at him and mused with his hair. She stretched languidly and rolled off the bed finally, holding a hand out to him.
"Good, because I like having you around and you look damn good in my sweats," she said as she made to haul him to his feet. "Let's go get some breakfast. I'm starving."
