 Andrea sat at the two-chair table in the cafe's outdoor eating area. If her face wasn't so deeply in her phone, she may have noticed that it was a beautifully clear day. Instead, she was flicknig through the main page of her blog, trying to decide what collection to work on next. For some reason she was thinking of children's clothes... Regardless, the whole point was to distract her as she waited for an old friend from college. She hadn't seen Kae since she graduated and it was rare she bothered maintaining schooling connections. Still, she remembered Kae being... special. Certainly beautiful, but enjoyable to talk to as well. She probably had heaps to talk about that's been going on with her life while Andy had been doing next to nothing with herself. Blushing lightly, she tried to focus on the fashion blog once more.

Kae might have lost track of time. It was hard to stay focused when she had a deadline coming up, and her manager was organizing a book signing, and... was she forgetting anything else? Ah, who cared right now. She was dashing down the street, hoping she wasn't too late for her lunch date with Andrea. Oh, she wondered how the demon was doing! They'd had some good times in college. She remembered shopping with her friend all the time and having a blast! Now where was the cafe? She almost ran past the meeting place, but caught a glimps of familiar lilac hair sitting at a table. "Andreaaaaaaaaaaa!" She stopped and half squealed.

Andrea was so focused on her phone she didn't see the chimera rush past and she almost dropped it on the table when she heard Kae squeal her name. Leaping up immedtiately, Andy turned to grin at her friend. "Kaaaeeeee!" She exclaimed, quickly pulling her friend into an embrace. "It's so good to see you! Oh my gosh how are you how is your life what are you up to tell me everything!" She gushed all at once, taking a seat across from the chimera. She looked even prettier than Andy remembered, but she tried not to let herself start blushing again.

"GAH! You look GREAT!" Kae returned the hug happily before pulling back. She smoothed her dress before sitting. "Girl, I wanna know what you've been up to!" She laughed. "I mean, I've been doing well. I've had a couple books published." She blushed. Did Andy know what she wrote? Part of her hoped that she didn't. But... at the same time, it would be a relief if she did. At least then she wouldn't have to explain it. "But it's been busy. I'm sorry I'm late. I have a deadline coming up and am trying to finish my next book." She pushed her hair back before looking at a waiter and asking for some raspberry lemonade. "What about you? What have you been doing? Are you still into divination?"

Andy's eyes widened when Kae said she had books published. I mean, one is impressive enough, but books plural!? Her eyes briefly looked at her phone, reminding her all she'd really done is run a semi-successful fashion blog. "That is so exciting!! Oh wow tell me all about your books that is amazing," She gushed. When she asked about Andy's life, she laughed nervously. "Yeah, still into divination! I've actually become, like, a seer. I use it for psychology and stuff," She explained, knowing it wasn't nearly as interesting. Flagging down a waitress to turn the conversation away from her, she hoped Kae knew what she wanted. "Can I grab a dirty chai and some smashed avo and fetta on toast?" She asked with a smile.

Oh right. Some kind of food should be consumed too. An order of mac and cheese with bacon was placed before she smiled at her friend. "That's great! Is that... what you wanted to do? I somehow always thought you'd be like, a fashion designer or something. You always had the cutest clothes. You still do, actually. You look great." She really didn't want to talk about her books. "W... well... the one I'm... working on is about a naval commander and his pursuit of a pirate." Yup, totally innocent sounding. Right? Boats and laws and politics. Sure. Yup. Innocent. Never mind the other content.

Andy was almost taken aback when Kae commented on her interest in fashion. That was so nice of her to remember, she almost felt guilty that she hadn't been so insightful. "Well.. I do run a fashion blog, but it's really nothing," She said shyly. "I've actually been thinking of putting together a children's collection. I don't know why... I just have kids on my mind." She wasn't even sure why she was telling Kae all that, she just seemed to easy to talk to. Her book certainly sounded interesting but weirdly... straightfoward? It didn't seem to suit Kae, the military stuff. "That sounds... interesting. Are they like, in love? They're in love, right?" She said in a mock-accusing tone.

"Oh? That's really cool! I'll have to check it out then. I do love me some cute clothes." She smiled when Andrea mused about having a children's collection. "Ah, kids do have some of the cutest things... I would love to go shopping for a-" Her thoughts derailed as Andy started teasing her. Her face turned pink. "Ah... I... w-well..." She stammered. Why did she have to guess?! "Not... at first." She picked up her napkin and started fidgeting with the paper, crinkling it and making little tears as she worried it in her hands. "I wanted the romance to build and... feel more natural..." She looked down. "I... write romance novels..."

Andy's grin only grew wider when the chimera started stuttering a response, playing nervously with her napkin. "Romance novels!? Why didn't you just say!" She exclaimed dramatically, almost hitting the waitress when she arrived with their orders. She thanked her quickly before turning back to Kae. "Babe that is so cool and, frankly, adorable. Don't suppose you have signed copies for friends?" She asked with a wink. "So... why romance? Based off... um... someone in your life?" She asked coyly, hiding behind her coffee as she took a sip.

"Well, not everyone is a fan of the genre, so it's a little embarrassing. This is only my third book, but they're selling pretty well. I might even be doing a book signing soon." Now that she knew Andy wasn't grossed out by it, she was feeling better about her work. "I... I donno. I really like romance. The idea of having someone you grow to love, dating, falling in love, and having children... it's really appealing. Maybe because I'm painfully single right now, it makes it more attractive to me, But... I just... like it."

Andy listened to Kae, her blush rising slightly as her sneaky 'do you have a partner' question worked flawlessly. "You'll totally have to tell me about your book signing so I can go and support you!" She said gleefully. "Now I know you're doing such cool things, I'll be your number one fan." Her grin turned into a shy smile as she poked at her toast with her fork. "I... I can relate to that..." She stammered softly. "Looking at these kids clothes almost makes me want to have kids too... and someone to do that with..." She trailed off, quickly stuffing some food into her mouth as an excuse not to talk.

"Girl, how the ******** are you still single?" Kae practically shouted at her friend. "You'd be a great parent, and they would be dressed fabulously, of course." She thought about it for a moment. "You... got someone in mind?" Oooh, she could totally write a story about this. A lonely woman who wants children, her struggles to find true love...

Andy jumped back slightly at her friend's outburst, surprised at the passion. "Well, I guess I'm a bit of a shut in," She reasoned, knowing it was a bit of a pathetic excuse. "I mean, you're the only person I've really met with since college..." She trailed off, realising how sad that was. She just got so caught up in her own things, she forgot to spare time for social activities. "So I guess you're the only one I've had on my mind," She finished with a half-hearted laugh, trying not to look too creepy. She hadn't even thought into actually imbuing a stone until now, but talking to Kae made it all seem so... doable.

"Awww, I'm flattered!" Kae laughed, blushing a little. "Buy me lunch and we'll call it a date." She winked. "But in all seriousness, do you really want to have kids? You really would be a great parent..." And more so, did she really want to have kids... with HER?

"Me? Aren't you the famous author! You must be rolling in it," She joked, glad to diffuse the atmosphere. It became serious again, however, when Kae addressed the issue more directly. "I... I think I might, actually," She said, shocked at herself. "I don't know if I really would be all that good, but I think it'd be an adventure all the same."
