Welcome to Siren Song, a six word story contest.

In Greek Mythology, sirens "were dangerous creatures who lured nearby sailors with their enchanting music and voices to shipwreck on the rocky coast of their island" (Wiki).

Picture yourself as a siren: what would you say to lure sailors to the water?

• What desires would some sailors have that you could appeal to?
• What are some words you'd long to hear if you were at sea for months or years at a time?
• As a siren, how do you feel about ships and/or sailors wandering your territory?

1. Each entry must be six-words exactly. Words that require a hyphen count as one.
2. Note that a period can be used as a beat, or a dramatic break. (ie. Love triangle. You get the point. [Source])
3. You may submit up to three entries (three separate sentences), but can only win once.
4. All entries must be original. Plagiarism is not allowed.
5. Please keep all entries appropriate. Stories that are excessively explicit will not be accepted.

Can't you see your ship's sinking?

I love this one because it accomplishes several things: introduces a conflict, reveals the siren's personality, and immediately hooks the reader.
Overall, it's a wonderful use of the six word story format. Well done!

I like how this entry has build-up! The uncertain "love?" at the end really captures your imagination: is the siren asking to be loved?
Is she suggesting to the sailor that it can be found? So many possibilities.

The somberness of this entry stood out to me. It perfectly captures a sirens' ultimate goal of luring a sailor to the water. The sentence as a whole is also well constructed!
