Rhys was out on the training grounds again, his coat, scarf, and flannel tossed aside because now that the rain was gone the island was back in its tropical state of sunny, hot, and mildly humid. It was nice, until he'd been standing out in it for a good thirty or so minutes, after which he actually started to feel like he was cooking inside an oven. He didn't miss the rain at all, but he did miss the clouds and all the shade they provided...
"Ah, well," he mused, hefting his sword over his shoulder. "Get what we ask for, I guess. 'Cept maybe a good sparring partner at the right time."
Glancing around, the brunette sighed at the apparent lack of people, until Zephira pointed out someone starting to approach from incredibly far off. They were still just a dot in his field of view, but that dot was slowly becoming the silhouette of a person, and he grinned.
"Yo! Yo, over here!"

It was one of Luka's first ventures outside of the safety and comfort of the buildings on Deus since they got back from Atlantis. There was a spring in her step as she took advantage to run along the beaches instead of something indoors.
Headphones were fitted into her ears, music keeping her focused and she nearly missed the calls of someone else that was out and about until she saw the figure ahead.
Steps slowed and Luka seemed to hesitate before shifting course and making her way over to...
Oh, she knew him.
"You're looking better," she said cheerily.

As she got closer Rhys blinked, realizing who it was. He shot her a little grin of his own, in part because he was happy to have found someone to potentially spar with (and yes, he would actively steer the conversation in that direction if she didn't), but also because it was good to know she didn't coop up in the infirmary all the time. The sun was out, and they were hunters--in his opinion, most of them belonged out in the field, though he knew nurses and doctors and such were also a necessity.
"Feelin' better, too," came his reply before he nodded at her. "Don't think I ever got your name when you got in my space to change those bandages, though." The brunette extended a hand at that.
"Name's Rhys, in case you forgot. It's been a while."

Luka enjoyed a lot of what the island had to offer. There was the ability to be active in a manner that she wouldn't have experienced otherwise and she was learning how to use a bow properly. Her and her sister had a stable (mostly) place to live where they didn't have to worry about child services or foster care.
All in all, it was pretty good.
And they hadn't run into anything they couldn't handle, which was great.
"Probably not, was a bit single-minded." Luka at least looked sheepish about it. "I'm Luka," she introduced, reaching out to shake the older boy's hand.
"So, um, wanna make sure of the grounds?"

"Luka," he repeated, knowing he'd wind up forgetting if he didn't at least repeat it once or twice while they were talking. He gave her hand a firm shake before letting go and giving his head a little shake.
"Not sure what you mean, but when I'm out here I usually like to get some kinda training in. A lot of times I'm stuck on the dummies, like today, but since you're here..." Rhys let the line sort of taper off, and he gave her an expectant sort of expression. Really, the worst she could do was refuse his offer and go off to check the grounds out on her own, which he wouldn't knock her for. Everyone had their own things on this island, some preferred not to be out on the grounds as often as he was out there.
That was their business.

"Yeah, yeah! We should spar!" Luka chirped up easily and happy too, grateful for the opportunity to do something other than work on a stationary target. She'd been practicing her aim anyway and now was as good of a time as any to put practice into action.
She heading onto the grounds and summoned Aran's bow into her hand. As always, he was quiet and subdued.
"Now's good to start yeah?" She called, even as she readied herself to draw back.
Luckily if he wasn't ready her arrows didn't even come close to hitting him.
