The office of Captain Vidari is professional and tidy, despite the greenblood's wild reputation and casual persona. An enormous desk that dominates the room is the first sight for most visitors, if not the watchful eyes of the captain himself. Folders and stacks of documents neatly tile the desk. One such stack has a large, serrated combat knife stuck through the middle of it. A closer look reveals a sticky note indicating for them to be shredded. Next to it is a to-do list and a mysteriously unlabelled tally sheet. The handwriting on all the documents is so precise it looks as though it could have been printed. A landline telephone stands in the corner beside a cute but out-of-place vase holding a bouquet of paper flowers.

Behind the desk, the Alternian flag is draped across the wall. A small bookshelf sits beneath it, sparse but not empty. Most of its contents appear to be on military tactics, daywalker physiology, and Alternian history. There are a few volumes of note however: one a first aid manual, another a comprehensive encyclopaedia on space, and near the end of the shelf a title that sounds suspiciously like it belongs to a Western fiction. A moobeast ranger figurine positioned as a bookend next to it, does nothing to assuage that suspicion. Next to the bookshelf is a medium sized safe. It is locked.

The adjacent walls are bare save for mission related materials: printed maps, blueprints, star charts, and photos of subjects like the launch sight, and Alternia's moons. The only other personal touch is a rifle that has been split in two hanging on the wall. It features no plaque despite having been mounted in a nice frame.

Two chairs sit on either side of the door for visitors to use.

"I don't get it."

Leeroi slouched in his seat with folded arms, blinking and and shaking his head. "Did you forget who I am?" He asked, letting out something between a scoff and a laugh. No, that couldn't be possible. He had his scars. He would have been easy to distinguish. So Kursha had some other shitty reason for doing this.

"So. You bullied and beat the piss out of me when I was a toddler, and now you think I'm the exact kind of upstanding citizen you want under your," He nonchalantly waved a hand as he tried to find the right word. "Tutelage."

He sat forward, eye contact unwavering. "You want my name. On your records." His eyebrows furled quizzically. "Why?"

      [+] Kursha Vidari

Kursha regarded the blueblood behind folded hands, green eyes glittering. “Leeroi Furore, junior detective,” he responded without hesitation. The memory of the night in Awassi’s hive still remained fresh in his mind. Or at least certain moments did. The corners of his mouth quirked a smile of their own accord. The grin carried up into his eyes.

“You know, the way I remember it was you asking for a beatdown.” Even now the greenblood was unrepentant. Some things never changed. “But that’s ancient history, right?” he added, voice on the verge of patronising.

The blueblood had changed significantly since Kursha had last seen him. Not only was he bigger—taller—he bore a set scars that aged him past his youth. The metal hand at the end of his arm was new too. That made two of them then.

“Honestly?” Kursha leaned back in his chair, kicking his feet up on on top of the desk. He turned his eyes towards the ceiling as though searching for an answer. “You have the right skill set and potential to go places.” He said, waving a hand. Leeroi might have been a brat back at the masquerade, but his military fanaticism and cold blood practically guaranteed him a high-ranking position at some point. Provided he stuck with the right crowd and did not screw it up first anyway.

More importantly though, Kursha knew he could use the blueblood. If Leeroi was anything like he was in his youth, his hot temper and cocky attitude would be his weakness. Kursha would just have to be careful and make sure that the blueblood did not get too ambitious.

“But mostly…” the greenblood continued, returning his gaze to Leeroi. He paused a beat and then broke into a grin. “I just thought it would be funny.”

Leeroi stood up so fast that his chair screeched against the floor. Immediately, he was screaming. "DO YOU THINK THIS IS A ******** JOKE?" His face contorted into a snarl, teeth bared.

He thinks you're a joke. Leeroi's lip twitched. Shaking, he balled his hands into even tighter fists. "I'm not here to d**k around." he added, quieter only through his gritted teeth. Leeroi was so excited to join the military, but this? Kursha was a disgrace, a blight on military records. What the hell did he do to deserve sitting behind that desk?

"You're still nothing but a failure and a bully." He added. He shook his head, but his eyes watched wide, bearing daggers into Kursha. "At least act like you deserve even a little of my respect!" He shouted, bringing his fists down onto Kursha's desk. Leaning forward, he waited for the greenblood to make a move.

      [+] Kursha Vidari

Oh good. The blueblood had not changed a bit. That was refreshing.

Kursha's raised his eyebrows at Leeroi's volatile response, feigning shock. He otherwise remained still in his seat, a picture of perfect ease. Not even when Leeroi banged his fists down on the desk did he so much as twitch. He gave the blueblood a moment to recover, and perhaps compose himself. The thought almost made him smile. Ha! Not likely.

“I don't need to act,” Kursha replied without an iota of remorse. The badge on his jacket spoke enough for him. Leeroi knew that too, and Kursha would not be goaded to prove otherwise. He breezed right past the blueblood's insults.

“Anyway, I'm glad,” he said with calculated indifference. “I'm not interested in anyone who would give anything less than their full effort. I expect everyone to coordinate their work, and won't tolerate slacking off in any form. Comprende, amigo?”

Kursha's cold indifference struck Leeroi back. He adjusted back to full height, tilting his head in what was now a confused snarl. Leeroi just... didn't know where to go from here. He squinted at Kursha as he finished talking.

Comprende, amigo? Of course he understood. And they weren't friends.

"Eat s**t." Leeroi folded his arms, adjusting his footing to stand wide. Bored, he looked around the room aimlessly. It was way tidier than he would have anticipated. Leeroi could change that.

Damn, he hated the energy of the room now. "Are we done here?" Leeroi finally asked, expression still stoic. Hopefully Kursha got the hint and released him.

The pep in Elidae's step seemed almost out of place with so many military trolls milling about. Kursha's decision to select her to work under him came as both a surprise and delight, but the news of who else he chose had the yellowblood bouncing on her toes in excitement for many reasons. One- Leeroi was cute. Like, super cute. And she would be seeing him more often now. Yes! And two- Kursha really needed some friends and Leeroi was like, so friendly and cool! I mean- yeah, that stuff that happened that one night was a little problematic, but who remembered that?

On habit, Elidae barely bothered to knock before popping her head inside the office to greet her Captain and moirail with a bright smile.

    "Eat s**t."

The corners of Elidae's lips dragged down and out and her eyes widened as she made a horrified expression, staring at the back of the blueblood she had previously re-met. Suddenly, she maneuvered her whole body to get a look at the troll lounging in front of Leeroi at his desk.

Making eye contact, Elidae gave Captain Kursha Vidari the most stern look that has ever crossed her face. Her voice, however, remained eerily cheerful in comparison.

"If you're done, I'd like to speak to The Captain, please!" When seen by Leeroi, the shift to Elidae's usual self was immediate.

      [+] Kursha Vidari

“Dismissed,” Kursha said in a bored voice. He waved his hand as though to shoo Leeroi out of the room. The sooner the blueblood was gone, the better. He had only spared Elidae a glance when she entered, but the look in her eyes did not bode well. At least she had the courtesy to wait.

Really short post, but wasn't sure if he would exit gracefully or throw a tantrum.

Elidae? s**t. ********. ********. Leeroi's mouth shut tight, lips pressed thin in an awkward expression. Was she working for Kursha, too? More importantly, did she just hear that? She didn't seem to be up in arms about it, so Leeroi assumed the best. Or maybe she was just being nice? ******** tilted his embarrassed face away from her view, half-pressing a hand to his cheek as if guarding himself. "Hi... Elidae," he said, stifling a nervous laugh. His eyes darted back over to Kursha, waiting for his orders to be released.

When those finally came, Leeroi took a short moment to ever-so-slightly stick his tongue out at the captain. Had Elidae not interrupted, Leeroi might have given a ruder gesture. He then exited the room, careful to take the long way around Elidae. The door closed behind him, and Kursha and Elidae were alone.

Amonee had the sinking suspicion he had taken a wrong turn somewhere while following Hemera's instructions. It didn't help that the office doors all mostly looked the same from the outside despite the wildly different contents of them inside. He puzzled over the paper one more time before shrugging and opening the next closest door. Either this really was her office or the lieutenant inside could point him in the right direction.

"Hemera? Oh! Excuse me." It was definitely not Hemera's office. He gave Kursha a polite bow of the head in apology. But it was Elidae that he couldn't look away from, surprised to see her here. And in uniform? It looked good on her, fitting like a glove. He just hadn't realized she was enlisting already. The idea of her in danger up in space bothered him. But it wasn't like he had room to talk after signing up to volunteer as well.

"Wait, did you cut your hair?" Amonee's eyes widened and he leaned further through the door to get a better look at it. "Omigosh, you look great like that!" His cheeks flushed a little green. She was so cute, even suited up as a soldier. A thought in the back of his thinkpan vaguely reminded him that he was obviously intruding on some kind of conversation but he was still a bit too starstruck to leave right away.

    "Captain- my mission report."

Despite appearing freshly clean, Elidae still looked haggard and weary. She gingerly placed the file upon Kursha's desk, avoiding his gaze. "You'll find a very-" Elidae took in a long breath and exhaled as she spoke- "Detailed explanation of mine and my squad's findings. The ship was successfully detonated." Inside the file held handwritten notes in bubbly letters concerning how the mission went, Nucleo and Amonee's performance, and the disturbing messages and videos Elidae found on the ship.

Elidae swallowed hard and awaited his response, remaining uncharacteristically stoic. Her avoiding eyes were tired and puffy.

The mission with Nucleo and Amonee, she believed, to be a success, despite Amonee and Nucleo's apparent lack of experience. Although her insecurities began to creep up on her. She wanted to feel validated, she wanted Kursha's recognition and to display her capabilities. She tried her hardest, despite still remaining upset with him. Having to be hard on her friends unsettled her, but the weight of the rank given to her had more responsibilities than coddling their emotions, even if she felt equally as emotional. The footage she witnessed kept replaying in her head.

"It was educational." She mentioned as an afterthought.
