It was pouring heavy out, and Melvin was curled up on his couch with some tea given to him by a coworker who said it would help with his troubled sleeping. So far, he was debating making a cup of coffee. Flipping through a book, he looked up when he heard a knock at the door. A glance to the window showed it was open, and setting his cup and book down on the coffee table, he went over and opened it up to see -

"Oh. Hey Nash." He stepped aside to welcome him in, curious as to the reason of his visit - and maybe a bit hopeful. There were other remedies to help you fall asleep.

"Hey," was the very eloquent response Melvin got in return as Nash meandered into his room. He glanced around at the sheer size and space of it all, perhaps a bit jealously, since his own room could have fit twice in the space of Melvin's.

He turned and flashed a casual smile in the other's direction.

"Thought I'd take you up on that hanging out offer you made."

A sudden smile returned back at Nash as he closed the door. "Alright. I wasn't doing much anyways. Would you like some tea or coffee or anything?"

He offered, moving past Nash and lingering in the entrance way to the kitchen. Having an upgraded room gave him the luxury of his own bathroom and bedroom, but the extra space felt daunting to him when he didn't have as much of the furniture and just bulk of possessions that were here when he and Lawr lived together. He still had 2 boxes in the corner he still didn't unpack, and he was only slowly starting to get more furniture back as a lot of it had been moved when he and Lawr moved into a house together.

For now he had a couch, 2 chairs, coffee table, a California King sized bed, various lamps, dresser, and a desk and chair. The kitchen at least had a dinning table and chairs. There were no pictures, photos, or rugs and the dresser was barren. On the desk a cover was set over it and a set of runic tools and stones were set out. A chest sat closed beside it, glowing a familiar blue.

"If you need a towel to dry off there are some in the bathroom."

"I'll take some coffee, if you're offering," said Nash, still peering curiously around the place. It was extraordinarily tidy, which seemed very Melvin-ish on several levels. The bed was given an eyebrow raise, amusement flickering briefly across Nash's face before he glanced back at Melvin.

"I'm all right," he said, and politely kicked off his shoes at the door before padding over to one of the chairs in the living area, Nash making himself comfortable.

"So. How's life?"

"A lot better. It's been a while since the horsemen attack so a lot of the repair work and runicing replacement equipment is finally easing to the normal pace again. It's still frustrating not to be able to go outside much though, but it gives me time to think I suppose." He said, calling out from the kitchen as he set up the coffee machine and set down a mug from the cabinet to wait.

"Been thinking a lot since that night but - I feel like - like is changing. Going somewhere. Like closing a chapter."

He returned to move over to the couch, sitting down. "Sounds a bit corny when I say it out loud." He looked over at him. "How have you been?"

"Yeah, the rain is not exactly my favorite thing," said Nash dryly, with a glance over at the window. It was pounding down hard, droplets spattering the glass panes. "Being cooped up inside only works for so long, and then you start to go stir crazy."

He rotated a finger beside his head, the universal symbol, and reclined back in the chair, one leg slung over the other, Nash propping an elbow on the armrest, chin in hand. "S'not corny," he said lightly. "Whatever works, right? If that's what helps you keep going, then it's all good."

He lifted his other hand, idly examining his black painted nails. "Oh, you know," Nash said conversationally. "Doing duties. Training. Sparring. Getting into things with ex-lovers of people I've ********. The usual."

Melvin followed Nash's gaze to the window, to which one was half open with a strap of leather around the bottom. Good for owl claws that damaged wood.

When he heard Nash's lifestyle, he gave a laugh. "You sure have a much more exciting life than me. Do exes usually hassle you? Hopefully they weren't someone trying to beat your face in." He reached forward, picking up his cup of tea and leaning back.

"Maybe you should get a body guard until you are a full hunter."

He grinned across at Melvin.

"Not usually. Once or twice. I tend to stay as far away from drama as I possibly can, and that includes exes and cheating. And no, not someone that wanted to beat my face, at least not vocally." Nash considered this for a moment.

"Maybe. Probably. He sure had fun eviscerating me, though."

"Well they are an ex. Seems some people can't let that go. It's not cheating if they're not together anymore. Seems they need to talk to someone else than trying to get mad at you, but I guess it's easier to upset you than the person they were with." He set the cup of tea back down.

"Tea is never as good as coffee." He commented before leaning back. "Does it bother you if I ask who you hooked up with to cause you so much trouble or does that break bedroom confidentiality?"

Nash hummed out a sound of thought, lips pressed together thoughtfully. "I've noticed that people here seem to like to hold onto things, no matter how far out of their reach it is," he said idly, and then added, "Coffee is much better, I like the stronger stuff."

In more ways than one, but that was beside the point. Nash surveyed Melvin from where he sat, a slow, serene smile tugging at his lips and spreading across his face.

"Oh, it's fine," he said lightly. "Maybe you've heard of him."

The smile grew a little wider.

"His name is Melvin Wood."

Melvin listened to hear a name, and continued staring as Nash said it. It took a moment to let his own name sink in, because he had been ready to hear something else, and then he was just confused.

"I don't get it."

He was trying very hard not to laugh even with the situation he was currently in, if only because Melvin's completely stupefied look was sort of priceless.

Nash's expression was amused.

"Does the name Lawrence ring a bell with you?"

The name brought on a quick intake of breath as he snapped out of his confusion, looking at the other with lingering confusion and now surprise.

"Lawrence......he talked to you. But - " How did he find out? Well, he had a Twitter DM explaining all about that. But....

"Why?"
PostPosted: Sun Oct 01, 2017 7:23 pm

Ah, there it was. The realization. Nash lounged back in the chair, trying to ignore the flutter of irritation at the memory of Lawrence's words, driving the knife just a little deeper with every syllable.

"Dunno. He found me on the rooftop and decided to have a little chat." Nash tugged idly on a lock of his hair. "And brought up you, of course."

He settled into the couch, staring at teh coffee table as he thought of the situation. Lawr and Nash. It was strange to think that, out of everything, he never was placed in a situation where he had to think of Lawrrence as an ex and Nash as a - was he even his lover? They messed around once on the fly and, well, Nash didn't give much of a indication he was the type for repeats. Melvin's eyes flickered over to him and watched as Nash played with a piece of his long hair.

No. Nash was younger than him, was used to messing around with people, and gave no indication of wanting anything solid. Maybe repeats got too close to a idea of committing to someone, and if Lawr was talking to him, then it only helped that a repeat wasn't something ideal. Nash wasn't used to exes.

Exes. Lawr was his ex.

Nash didn't need to be tied up with him then. With Lawr then.

"Why did he want to talk to you. He.....he shouldn't care." And his gut twisted at that knowledge. Lawr had more or less set him free ages ago, and while he expressed his desires to him and followed it constantly with the bitter reminder that he was married, he said he was free to mess around all he liked. To see a new life, new lovers, and find where it took him. Lawr had lived that lifestyle before. He shouldn't care who he was with.

Then again, he had watched.

"I'm......sorry if he bothered you. I didn't think........he's care about any of it."
