Hydra had gone out because sleeping hadn't done her any good. It had been a night full of tossing and turning, half attempts at trying to coax herself back to sleep and no amount of snuggling with her cats or the seal plush her boyfriend had won her helped.

She knew it was because she was afraid of what she might dream of and what that might mean.

(Hydra was also terrified that if she dreamt of the right things he still wouldn't come and her heart would break all over again.)

Unfortunately that meant that she'd gone patrolling and with her thoughts scattered, her feet had led her to the park. Oh, it was the day she usually-- used to meet Seal's Eye at the park. Boots led her to the fountain where she wavered before the bubbling water and the ripple of her reflection.

Her heart ached at the sight of herself, alone, and no one else to accompany her.

In her sorrow, Hydra hadn't noticed the mirror tucked away on the other side of the fountain and when she passed it, she found herself sucked in.

Landing with a thud on her hands and knees, long turquoise hair pooled around her, Hydra looked around frantically as she was thrown off by the sudden shift in scenery.

Hvergelmir stretched her arms across her body as she walked, the joints stiff. She rarely patrolled for youma -- except for times like now, when she was walking home from her vigils in the park. As often as not, it was quiet at this time of night: few youma, few people. She wondered, sometimes, at the correlation. Youma rarely seemed to be active during the day -- but at night, they always seemed to be drawn to people, their food source. Perhaps, like conventional large predators, they had to conserve their energy when the chances were poor of them getting a kill.

Food for thought.

Walking past an alleyway, the mirror in the nearby dumpster wasn't of much interest. It was a cheap thing, favored by college students and people like Laney, and one of the plastic sides of the frame was missing -- probably why it had been thrown out, along with some other small pieces of furniture. She'd been going about her business when she'd been pulled in --

-- and found herself spat out in some new, strange place: almost empty, like a void, except that there was another person in it.

A Negaverse agent. One of their black-suited sailor soldiers.

Hvergelmir scrambled to her feet and backed away to create some distance, hands up and palms outward in a show of peace.

"Did you bring me here?" she asked, baffled, her brow furrowed.

She wasn't alone.

Her head shot up and she scrambled backward, wincing every time a long strand of hair was caught beneath something. Eventually, in her hurried panic, she climbed to her feet.

"What are you talking about?" Hydra asked, arms raised in front of her defensively. Her eyes narrowed in suspicion at this woman dressed in white. "I didn't bring you here, you brought me here." She didn't need to know if it was true or not, it was simply the most logical conclusion.

She took a step back, for more distance, and found her back hitting the wall. Whomever the woman was, her hands were raised in a peaceful gesture and she lowered her own arms to press palms against the wall. Jade eyes closed briefly, to help her concentrate, and when they opened she looked more disgruntled that before.

"I can't--" She clamped her mouth shut, frowning when she looked back over to the woman in the room. "What did you do?"

A corrupted sailor soldier. Hvergelmir did her best to size up the situation as quickly as possible. She had to keep calm, to keep her wits about her -- a cool head was often the difference between life and death, she reminded herself. She had to get her footing.

What was clear was that this sailor soldier was as confused as she was. Well, that was somewhere to start.

"Easy, easy," she called out urgently, splaying her hands wider to reinforce her peaceful intent. She held still, otherwise. It was often good to hold still, when dealing with the Negaverse. That much she'd learned over and over again.

"My name's Hvergelmir Knight of the Cosmos, and I can't hurt you. I really, honestly, entirely can't hurt you." She took a long, slow breath, hoping to subconsciously encourage the other woman to do the same. "Listen -- I don't think either of us did this. Mirrors aren't really the knights' M.O. or the Negaverse's. Let's just . . . can we both try to calm down for a minute and get our bearings? You're safe with me, okay?" she emphasized, repeating the point to underscore it: "I can't hurt you without it killing me. I swore an oath."

Turquoise brows knitted together, jade eyes narrowing with suspicion when the woman tried to tell her to calm down. She could feel her heart in her throat as her brain scrambled to figure out how to respond or even what she should do.

Hands balled into fists at her sides, knuckles pressing against the ground.

Fear was a very real thing since Hydra was in a situation she didn't know what to do in and it wasn't like she could leave, as proven by the lack of exits and the fact she couldn't even teleport.

And the lady seemed fine. Nice, even? But she didn't trust her. She wasn't supposed to.

"What does that even mean? Oath? Sounds like a lie."
