[[ backdated to before Irkalla gets sucked into a mirror ]]

Kathryn glanced around her surroundings with a surreptitious look. She had left her parents earlier in the day and had set out with the intent to at least do a small patrol in the evening hours. It was almost a relief to once more actively patrol and do her part in the never-ending battle she found herself embroiled in. She had taken a few months to attempt living a normal life but it hadn't seemed to work much. Seeing various stories on the news only caused the knife-sharp stab of guilt to move her to take action once more. It was with this thought in mind that she'd made a flimsy excuse about being called into help at the library to her parents. Finding a dense area of foliage that would serve rather nicely Kathryn removed her string of instruments and willed her powered form upon her and soon was striding out of the cover she had chosen to conceal her transformation into a Page of Cosmos.

Sensing that so far everything seemed normal Irkalla moved to the nearest rooftop in order to begin her patrol. It was all she could do to hope that she didn't run into anything. It would be nice to relax once she returned home and cozy up with a new book she had found.

It was a lovely evening, and Titanite was shamelessly on the prowl, wandering the streets looking for a teeny bit of fun, a little bit of trouble, or a big bit of both. She was more than a little bit high, but that was infrequently a problem unless she was trying to hunt something more than fun. Tonight, of course, she was not. The blue-haired Captain took extra care to clack first heel, then toe on the pavement, because the sound was oddly pleasant. Thump-flomp-thump-flump... a rhythm that she varied with careful humor as she made her way down the street. She was not going to tap-dance her way across the town, of course, that would be silly. Shahar was only good at one kind of dancing, and it didn't exactly involve her feet.

The Negaverse didn’t exactly smile upon her choosing to do pot 'on the job' but they didn't exactly make an effort to stop her, either. She did her job minimums and stayed out of trouble with the police. She didn't go around murdering people and attracting attention, or chowing down on starseeds and turning herself into a youma. She had a real job now- or as real as being an amateur fighter was, compared to her former employment. Which was more of a hobby. Both jobs were, really. But if you could get paid to do what you were good at... Live the dream.

Her attention was tugged by a feeling on the edge of her senses- someone powering up, nearby. The uncomfortably warm heat of Order, not the spine-tingling chill that ran down her spine at the feeling of Chaos. A playmate! Titanite promptly ended her careful click-clacking and moved faster, giving up rhythm for a bit of speed. An aura could not, of course, be hidden. Stealth was out of the question, but speed could still get her a surprised reaction. She almost couldn't wait to see their face! The Order member had made their way to the rooftops. She had to move quickly to get into a position where she could...

“BOO!” she shrieked, far too loud, as she burst onto the scene, jumping up onto the roof. Tonight, she thought she was very clever. BOO. In September. No one would expect it, right? Right???

Irkalla had begun to move to the adjacent rooftop to the one she was currently on by a well timed jump when something registered to her senses. It was a similar feeling to when she first awoke. The flare of a chaos aura. Still new to most things Irkalla didn't realize how close the enemy was until she was preparing to jump and from behind a unit leaped out a dark figure. Pedalling backwards in surprise Irkalla swung out her string of ornaments towards the figure. Scrambling to regain her footing didn't quite work out and the page found herself falling backwards. Wincing as she landed hard Irkalla glanced upwards towards the figure and scowled. "Not funny," she breathed out with a bit of a wheeze, "not funny at all."

Catching her breath seemed almost near impossible as she worried that since she was now vulnerable she'd be attacked. Judging by the source of the aura that the agent was giving off Irkalla assumed that they were of a higher level of power than she was. Moving to stand the Cosmos page tried to assume a non-threatening stance. However in the back of her mind Irkalla was trying to mentally judge the distance between herself and the unknown figure.

Titanite was definitely not expecting the reaction she received. She was extra-not-expecting the string of ornaments that whapped her across the face, or the way the other woman was falling over, or the way her loud BOO would choke itself in her throat, turning to a cackling wheeze as the page- not a senshi, as she had been assuming- fell on her butt and scowled up at her from the ground. The choking wheezing chortle coming from her own throat was a bit incongruous with the wheeze coming from the other woman.

“It is funny,” she protested, “It is very funny. Your face! AH! FLUMP.” Shahar's accent was thick and throaty, any clarity to her accent muffled by choking wheezes until she didn't know if the other woman understood her words at all. Even less, though, did she care. She grasped the unit for support, leaning against it and fighting back the waves of humor. The page rose and Titanite inhaled, giving a satisfied sigh once her breath was caught, still completely off-guard and unprepared. “That was good,” she informed the page, “a very good laugh. Thank you. I needed that.”

Now that she was more clear of vision, she could see that her jump-scare victim was quite a pretty one indeed, and her eyes lit with avid appreciation. “Hello, hello, lovely one. Kiss and make out? I mean, kiss and make up.” English wasn't her first language, but she did not usually Freudian slip quite so obviously.

Relishing the chance to at least size up her opponent Irkalla took the chance to actively gauge just how formidable her opponent was. Taking into account the other's bent-at-the-waist with laughter it looked like the agent was taller and even more muscled than she was. Well, s**t. Trying to recall what she had learned in her fighting class was probably only going to piss off her opponent if she didn't manage to get a decisive blow in first. As she got ready to make a move her opponent spoke up and the page paused.

“Hello, hello, lovely one. Kiss and make out? I mean, kiss and make up.”

Wait? What? Did she actually hear that correctly? Irkalla glanced up at the other woman with confusion in her grey eyes. Her mouth settled into a small expression of surprise before she felt her cheeks warm. Inwardly she cringed as she mentally berated herself that this was an enemy. But ... perhaps she could use this to her advantage to incapacitate her opponent. Keeping her eyes down towards the ground she twirled her ornament string around her left hand. Her voice was soft as she replied, "I don't think that would be a wise idea though. Are we not enemies after all?"

She wasn't the world's greatest actor at all means, but surely she could pull off an air of innocence at least long enough to get a good shot in.

Ahhhhh! Her pretty little companion was a blusher, and as the agent stretched herself up to her full height, she enjoyed watching that lovely mouth fall open and the color pInt the other woman's cheeks like delicate flowers; a sweet pastel, not unlike the colors in the page's uniform. Women had no right being so lovely, certainly not if they were going to say hurtful things like what spilled from between sweet-looking lips.

I don't think that would be a wise idea though. Are we not enemies after all?

Titanite gave a dramatic, ragged gasp, clutching a hand to her breast and staring at the smaller woman like she had been stabbed. "Enemies?" how could she think Titanite would consider her an enemy? Had she looked in the mirror? Well, unless the woman wanted to be enemies, or was mortally offended by humor. Hmmmm.

She stepped closer easily, eyes bright with nefarious interest. "No, pretty page," she assured with a thick purr, "the last of things I wish is to be your enemy. I would like very much to be a close, personal friend."

With as many people as possible.

They weren't enemies? Then why did that one before want to try and kill her? It also didn't ring true with what Europa had always mentioned. It was probably a good thing that she had known someone that fought for the side of order. At least it gave her something to base opinions on. Realizing her thoughts had run off on a tangent Irkalla felt just a little uneasy at the other woman's nearing proximity to her body. It didn't help that the comments the other was throwing out where causing a little bit of confusion.

Pulling her racing thoughts together Irkalla gave a thoughtful pause before hesitantly stepping forward one step only. "I would very much like to believe that we are not enemies but one of your fellow comrades did threaten to kill me once so I'm more careful these days. Can you blame me?"

Taking a risk Irkalla held out her hand that was empty towards the agent. "If you are true in your desire to be friends, will you shake on it?"

Knowing the encounter could sour easily she tried to adopt a relaxed pose. If she needed to get away she would have to strike first and strike hard. In the back of her mind she had to wonder what hitting a real person would feel like instead of a punching bag? What would be different? A punching bag never got winded if struck squarely in the gut. Keeping up her appearance of being friendly she softened her gaze and gave a tentative smile as she waited to see if the other woman would shake her hand.

Titanite clucked her tongue, visibly despairing at her Negaverse cohorts. What made them all go for violence as a first resort instead of a last? Yes, Titanite had made errors in judgment, but did they have to make everyone think that they were bad people on the whole? This one was a pretty one. How was she going to con her way into a kiss if she could hardly get close enough to pat the other woman on the butt? Not that she would. Probably. Okay, chances were good that she would remorselessly take such a liberty.

Still. Details.

The woman stepped in her direction, and Titanite perked up with excitement. "I cannot blame you, no. I would not be find of someone who made threats. But neither would I hold it against someone who made no such a threat." was that proper language? Possibly not 'such a' was it only hold to- "Blame them, not poor, innocent Titanite." she clasped her hands together, and tried to look sad.

The hand that was held out was a bounty, and the tall agent practically skipped forward, reaching out to clasp the hand with her own calloused ones, pulling it to her lips.

"Shake?" she repeated, and pressed a polite kiss over the knuckles. "Nonsense. You seal promises with a kiss."

Aw yeah. Titanite was winning. This was gonna be a good meeting.

After thinking that the agent did not want to shake hands Irkalla began to think that maybe her offer of friendship was being declined and that she'd have to defend herself after all. At the point in which she was going to pull her hand away the page suddenly found that her hand had been clasped in the agent's hands. Perhaps fearing bodily injury Irkalla was ready to let sail with her string of ornaments when suddenly her hand was brought to the other woman's mouth and kissed gently over her knuckles. It was politely done and yet she couldn't help but once again feel her cheeks heat up. In that moment Irkalla learned the name of the stranger, no, Titanite now.

Flustered was not always a state that Irkalla liked being in and with a gentle motion tried to pull her hand back towards her. "I guess that I cannot blame you for someone else's behaviour Titanite."

Pausing long enough to perhaps think that not all enemies were that, enemies, she let her attention drift for a moment. It was then that she realized that while she now knew the name this agent, would it only be polite to give her name out. "By the way, I'm Irkalla. You already know that I'm a page. What rank are you?"

She relaxed a little bit further as she waited for Titanite's reply. She was genuinely curious about the agent now that she was hopefully assured that she wasn't in any danger. In the back of her mind a tiny voice was whispering for her to be on guard though. Funnily enough it sounded like Europa.

The page- Irkalla, she was soon to learn- blushed, and it was pretty as a picture. Titanite could hardly stand it. She easily released the other woman's hand when it was pulled back, Titanite hopping one step away from the member of Order. "I am very glad you will not blame me. It is always such a trial to try and handle the left-behind mess of a particularly naughty person." like the awful wingmen and wingwomen that she apparently worked with. Though she doubted they were thinking much about Titanite's amorous pursuits. Work was work. Play was not.

Titanite did so want to blur the lines.

"I am a Captain." her answer to Irkalla's question came easily enough. "I was a lieutenant for a very long time. How does it work for you, moving up in the world?" In the Negaverse it seemed to be.... worthiness? Or bribes. She supposed it could be a small bit of both.

Wickedness made her want to take liberties, and her hand twitched. In battle, where it was play, it was one thing. But apart from her flush, Titanite had seen no indications if interest, or acknowledgement of her flirtations. Indeed, the other woman had pulled her hand away, indicating the opposite. Still, she was also relaxing, being conversational, and Shar was unsure how to interpret the signals... without taking a little extra liberty.

She sidled closer, towards her, carefully trying to gauge the Page's level of NOPE. "Do you promote on merit, or is there some other criteria?" Ignore her hand, ignore her hand, ignore her sidling, creeper hand heading for your elbow...

Letting Titanite know her name was perhaps a small error but surely it would not be a mistake on her part. No one really knew who she was even as her powered self. At least though it seemed as if she'd given Titanite something to be pleased about by offering not to hold a grudge against her for the actions of others like her. It was the next question from the captain's lips that confused the page.

Irkalla really hadn't even really begun to learn about what people like her had to do in order to advance. It was still all a mystery about what her kind did. All she had learned in her talk with Tallulah was that she fought on the side of good. Although that number that Tallulah had given her still resided as an impromptu bookmark in one of her books she couldn't bring herself to call the person Tal thought could help. She wasn't doing a very decent job of being a fighter in the war that was for sure. Clueless, rather alone, and utterly useless in a fight did not make for an effective warrior in the battle of order and chaos.

"I'm not sure on what determines when we are ready to advance. Sorry that doesn't really answer your question. No one has ever had the chance to tell me what to expect."

Thinking more on that matter was distressing enough to Irkalla that at first she didn't notice the sidling closer of the negaverse captain or the hand that started to inch closer to her elbow. Although she couldn't stay unaware of the situation for too long. Even her level of awareness was failing her as she brought her gaze to find that Titanite was standing within her personal bubble and, as contact was initiated once more, taking liberties while her guard was down. The hand that grasped at her elbow was a good way to bring her out of her morose thoughts and she turned her stormy grey eyes to Titanite. When she spoke she tried to inject something other than nervousness into her words but found that it wasn't an easy thing to do. Her voice was firm but as she spoke if one listened carefully they'd detect the nervous hitch in her words, "I think that you need to let go of me."

She wasn't exactly fighting the hold but she wasn't sure what was happening either. Was Titanite someone that toyed with their prey or what? Her mind went back to basic ways of defending oneself and found herself thinking that if the captain refused to listen to her that she'd have to make her.
PostPosted: Wed Oct 04, 2017 7:22 pm

She did not know what determined progression? Was there no leader- no... princess?- to bestow their favor and grant them power? Then what granted these knights their power, if it wasn't someone grander? Did Order not have a form that could be harnessed?

"Well that makes no sense."

It was her brow twisted in confusion that made her miss part of the other woman's words. Shahar prided herself in making sure to try and respect privacy and space when displeasure was made clear. Unfortunately, her face scrunched up in confusion... Titanite may have held on to Irkalla's elbow a little too long.

It really wasn't that she didn't have a princess, she knew she did. She had met her only once though when she'd felt the pull to go to the Moon. She'd not partaken in the battle of the Rift but she'd seen the results firsthand with what had happened. She had met Cosmos, her sovereign lady on what amounted to be "not a good day." There'd been an offer extended to ask questions that day and yet she couldn't bring up anything and so she'd faded away to perhaps learn answers to the questions that bubbled on her lips yet another time.

That didn't matter though at the moment. What mattered was freeing herself from this encounter with a negaverse captain that didn't seem to be adhering to the warning she had issued just moments earlier. Did she hear it? Shaking out of the thoughts that maybe another warning needed to be given Irkalla bit her lip gently before frowning. What to do now?

A warning had been given and ignored and so Irkalla went with her gut instinct. Turning her body inwards she curled her free hand into a fist and swung out towards Titanite's midsection. Hopefully her blow would reflect some of the anger that was beginning to course through her. As she went with the motion of the strike Irkalla found her voice after all, "I said "LET GO!"
PostPosted: Thu Oct 05, 2017 4:47 am

Titanite was not prepared. The Negaverse Captain was wrapped in her consternation, and had half-forgotten she was with someone she hardly knew, and had completely missed the other woman's request to let go. Or at least the first one. The bluenette was, admittedly, only attentive when she wanted to be, taking in some details with hyperfocus. Others, however... Other details got her punched in the gut.

The blow was a total surprise to her soft gut, and the Captain wheezed, looking down at Irkalla like she had been betrayed. One instinct screamed at her to fight back, and she knew her body jerked as training kicked in; then words caught up with her ears, and she dropped the arm, immediately. She had standards- and Irkalla had dropped to clearly not interested.

"I'm sorry," she wheezed, then took a step back. It was only once she was a distance away from the knight that she coughed to clear her throat. She didn't bother with the reason that she had not let go- if her scrunched face had not been a clear enough indication that her mind was elsewhere, then the woman would not care. She did appreciate seeing that at least one person she had met from the side of Order had their violence priority in.... order.

It took her only a moment to recover from the blow, though she would feel it in the morning. She took worse in a regular basis in the ring, however, and under her uniform her body was already a mass of bruised flesh from people who did not play fair. Maybe she could get someone to kiss it better. She hadn't seen Sid in a little while...

Surprise didn't even begin to describe how Irkalla felt at striking a solid blow to her opponent. Although the surprise quickly fled to be replaced with a smattering of concern. She hadn't meant to hit the captain that hard and if the wheezing that the other woman was clearly an indicative than she had somewhat failed to lessen the blow. Dismay clouded her features for a moment but at the same time she had managed to get the other woman to let go of her arm, if only it didn't seem like Titanite had been burned while in the process of releasing said arm.

Finding that speech was hard Irkalla watched Titanite closely before clearing her throat. "I'm sorry. It's just that you were too close and with no warning. And I did ask you to let go before."

She reached out a hand almost as to provide possible comfort but at the last moment backed away. Would someone really want comfort after being socked in the gut, Irkalla glanced away guiltily. She backed away quickly and wiped at her eyes before leaping off the edge of the building. She was ashamed of her actions and ran off into the nearest park.
