AIM RP between Cornetified and Sabra Knight.
Corny:
Standing at the edge of the beach, Yokka sighed and dug her toes into the warm sand. The heat of the day was offset by the cool breeze coming off the ocean water. Would it be cool all the time out on the water, or would the sun always bake? Nodding, she headed on to the water’s edge and dropped in a couple boards. One sank, two remained afloat, and one.. seemed to bob about in half-form. Yokka pursed her lips while taking notes of what she was seeing.

Nadiya was in love with Belrea. Everything about the place, the exciting stories she learned, the technology that caught her interest, and the environment, and even the ale was amazing! However, the woman did miss one thing that was very important to her - the ocean. It was no surprise that she found herself wandering away from the capital and down along the shore towards more farms away from the city until she found a place where the breeze carried an all too familiar hint of salt. A smile lit up her face as she started to spot the beach. She had finally found it!
"Huzzah!" The Matori grinned brightly as she darted through and kicked up sand behind her. Without pause for the lady staring into the water Nadiya threw off her boots into the sands and jumped into the shallow ocean water with a splash, "Mmmm." She wiggled her toes into the wet sands before blinking and fixing her gaze on the stranger, "Oh hey there....it's okay to swim here, right?" Or would she turn a different shade of green or something from this water?

Tucking her book away, Yokka let out a yelp when something blue rushed by her. Someone! The floating board swayed and drifted so that Yokka had to step into the water to keep them from floating away. “Hi,” she murmured hesitantly. This was one of those people from Tendaji... the woman’s ears looked like fins... “Uh, yeah. The water here’s good for swimming.” Cocking her head, she peered a little closer. “What are you?” she asked bluntly. She wasn’t trying to be rude, but was naturally curious. She had seem people like this at that meeting...

"Oh great." Nadiya moved her feet more into the waters as she went a bit further in, "Wait..." Pursing her lips she moved back towards the stranger and could only laugh at the question which left her lips, "You mean who am I?" She teased lightly though honestly the question did not surprise her as many people stopped to look her way in this new country, "My name is Nadiya and I'm from 'cross the seas. A little ocean country called Matori and no I don't know why we look a bit different from a lot of the races." She stuck out her tongue playfully, "Though you're different too, no gems and all."
As she came back onto the sands the woman back to unbuckle the corset around her waist, "Suppose it would be a shame to get all my stuff wet while swimmin'. I just got so excited...so do you just stay here and look at boards all day or somethin'?" She glanced towards the floating boards that the woman had saved, "Seems...interestin'?"

Yokka cocked her head slightly at the correction. Well, if that was how she wanted to phrase it, as long as the question got answered. Thankfully, the answers were more than enough! “I like your ears,” she said without thinking. She was different? Yokka looked down at herself with co0nfusion before laughing. “True.” Smirking at the wet clothes, Yokka shrugged in reply. Her own clothes found no great difficulty when she got them wet. “Only when there’re boards to stare at,” she replied, bending to grab the one that had sunk as well. “I’m testing different coatings to see what works best on keeping the wood dry and floating.”

"You....eh?" Nadiya's cheeks blushed as she rasied a hand to her fins, "Thank ya." She shook off the slight shyness before grinning, "I'm proud of them. Makes me feel more at home in the ocean, ya know?" She chuckled as the other girl studied herself. Seemed there was plenty of differences to be had between all of 'em no matter where they came from in the first place.
"Ahh.....wait what?" Nadiya blinked, "So you're working on helping making the boats then?" She was already shedding her outerskirt and her corset and by the time she looked back to Yokka the woman stood in just a light camisole and shorts, "Sounds interestin' I suppose."

Yokka nodded lightly. Indeed! The girl could have been part fish! Wouldn’t that be fun? Looking at the boards she held, Yokka gave a reluctant shrug. “Well, sorta. Right now is more helping my family with the farm.” She perked herself up with a smile. “I’m gonna be on those ships though! They’re the most interesting thing around here, and I’ll be makin’ them better than ever!” As the woman’s layers came off, Yokka’s nose wrinkled the tiniest bit. “Uh... You might wanna find a private beach if you’re taking everything off...”

Nadiya quirked a playful brow, "Are ya farmin' boards then?" She teased lightly before siling at the girl's enthusiasm, "So you like the sea even though you have air boats? What about those? That was a fun ride."
Nadiya glanced down and shook her head, "Nah, this is enough. I forget over here people wear more clothin'. Ya really should see some of the Alkidikes I've met, barely covered any tidbits at times."

Yokka’s brow knit with confusion. “No, I said I’m testing ou- ..Oh.” This was one of those jokers then. “Can’t see anything from way up there,” she huffed, pursing her lips. “I mean, you see everything, but what can you really see? It’s a pain to have to lower down to get a good look at something and then have to work their way back up again. Nah. I’d rather figure out how we can explore water transport better.” Her nose wrinkled again at the mention of the Alks and their ‘tidbits.’ “Not saying you shouldn’t swim naked. Just.. maybe not with me still hanging around, you know?”

Nadiya tilted her head with interest, "I suppose that's a valid point." The bard shrugged her shoulders, "Still since I had never been on such a thing before it was amazing. The clouds and everything~ Even if you can't see the fine details it still reveals how big this world is." She shook her head, "I'm still in awe just thinkin' about it."
"My homeland has a lot of boats that go back and forth over the great sea." Commented Nadiya thoughtfully, "There's another country ya see called Yael and we just started traveling there a few years ago. Crazy how secluded we all were until then.....but now we're even flying through the skies."
"That would be rude of me ta chase you away." Nadiya replied with a laugh, "But don't worry I just wanted to shed the outer layers. Crazy how much you people wear over here. Skirts with skirts beneath those skirts and then shorts and corsets and then more laces...sheesh." She glanced down and patted a wrinkle out of the light tan underclothing she had on, "This is good enough to swim in. Anything else would drag me down too far."

“Ah, yeah. The first time on them is pretty neat. I guess I’m just used to it.” Of course, the moment oversea boats were mentioned, Yokka leaned forward, her exposed eye wide with interest. “You have boats that go over the ocean?! Do you know how the boats work? Can you tell me? How far is this Yeal from Tendaji? Farther or shorter than Tandaji to here?” Being dressed in a simple shirt and shorts, Yokka allowed a smirk to rise. “Yeah. It’s ‘specially the ones living in the cities who do that. I try to wear what won’t drag me under, either.”

Nadiya blinked in surprise at the sudden enthusiasm - well okay maybe she wasn't sooo surprised since she had purposefully put out the bait for the other girl. "Well first of all ya can tell me your name then I'll answer more questions, seems fair right?" She winked, "I like to trade information ya know so if you don't mind telling me more about this area then I can tell ya plenty about my home...sea."
Laughing the Matori nodded, "So I see. I just ugh - all the lovely dresses...I had to try some for myself." She playfully fluffed her hair, "Gotta track all the attention as a minstrel, ya know."

Oh, name. What had this finned lady said her name was? Nada? Nadi? Shoot... “I’m Yokka,” she said, dropping to sit on the sand where she was. This was no time for moving around and making pleasantries! “I’ll tell you what I can, but those sea boats..” With the dresses brought up further, her nose yet again wrinkled slightly. “Can’t say I like the fluffy dresses much,” she admitted. “Laundry for one outfit takes ages.”

"Yokka, nice ta meet ya." Nadiya plopped on the sand next to the girl and stuck her legs out so that her toes touched the waters, "Sounds like a deal, honestly anything big or small is good to hear. I like to have a stock of stories for when I go back home."
"I would say." Nadiya chuckled, "I have a younger sister who loves things like these though so I'm hopin' to con her into cleanin' mine." The Matori shook her head, "But as it is what do you really wanna know? Yael and Tendaji are closer than here, but the jounrey is just as dangerous since there's giant beasts in the oceans that try to eat ya whole." She shrugged, "Our boats sail by the wind though I hear if you're lucky enough to snag a wind mage then it's always smooth sailin'."

Big or small? Well, she might be able to do that~ Yokka thought of her own sisters with their fluffy dresses that they reserved for wearing to town. It took forever! “Giant beasts?” she gasped out, leaning forward again. Wind mages... Sails! “So they use nature and magic. D’you think your boats would make it here, or is Yeal their limit? I’m making a boat to reach Tendaji, so any tips are helpful!”
