Quinn yawned and stretched, working out the kinks from working at his computer for so long. It might have still been early but the young man had already put in a few hours of work. Mostly paperwork. Every day seemed to generate more and more paperwork. So much paperwork that sometimes Quinn had nightmares of being squished beneath it all. Very little of it was actually for the project they were in South Korea for but it needed to get done so in order to avoid the scolding he knew he would receive the early mornings and late nights were the only time he could work on it. He didn’t think Seung knew about sneaking extra work hours in, him or Terry, both of whom were under strict orders to smack him if Quinn did stupid stuff. But that was neither here nor there since the young man was about to jump into the shower and get ready for the official day. A day full of last minute details, discussions with the inhouse manager the company will put into place when Seung and he left in a few days, and any further hobnobbing crap he needed to do. Who would have guessed that a lot of what he was doing once the office was set up was rubbing elbows with other city movers and shakers. It was annoying as hell.
His forward progress into the shower was halted by the chime of a text coming through on his phone. A glance at it prompted him flicking on the tv to local news. It didn’t take long at all to grasp the situation, Quinn biting off a curse as he watched the talking heads on the news discuss the newest act of aggression by the midget who called North Korea his own little mountain. For all of America’s wailing over the firing of missiles by the dictator, emphasis on ‘dic’, most in the South disregarded it as a ‘look I’m powerful’ type of boasting from a child and it would have stayed that way if the p***k hadn’t threatened Guam. When that had first happened Quinn figured the whole project would be put off again but things seemed to calm down between the two nutballs yelling at each other. Now however it was an entirely different situation. The northern d**k fired over Japan and they weren’t likely to put up with that s**t. It didn’t matter that the missile landed in the water, that it didn’t cause any damage, or hurt anyone. All that mattered was that it had been fired over Japan’s sovereign territory. A second chime had Quinn starting slightly, scrambling for his phone, he had been so wrapped up in the news he didn’t even realize he had ended up sitting down on his bed, facing the tv.
It didn’t take long for him to read Seung’s text, even less to understand it. It had its merits… that and would inevitably add a ******** ton more paperwork on his metaphoric desk. With a sigh and a glare at the tv Quinn tossed back a text, a call would be quicker, hell his friend was quite literally across the hall but he didn’t really want to walk in on those two spending time together.
[Let see what main office has to say. Also should suggest it to Mr. Kim since he would be the one to deal with it on a local scale when we aren't here. Give me a hour for shower. Breakfast? Or you two eat already?

Already working on getting dressed, something he hadn’t planned on as he’d been planning on spending hours in bed relaxing in his pajamas, he knew he’d need to get up and dressed so he could talk properly to Quinn and start figuring out what they should do. It was also a good idea to get out and get a general feel of people in the area and see what was being said by people.
Maybe there would be some silver lining to this, he could hope, and something would happen to the North’s not so beloved leader. Normally Seung wasn’t the sort to like murder but he had, over time being a knight, learned that sometimes it was a necessary thing. With the North’s dictator he really thought it was a good idea, though he also knew it would cause problems for the people who lived up North. There was a lot to think about and he could only hope the anger the leaders of other countries might feel right now, among other things they must be feeling, would not win out over logic. Though the people who would be handling this, and talking, were picked no doubt to be able to think critically and not think with just feelings alone.
Grabbing for his phone, a sock half on his foot, and glanced over the message from Quinn before tapping out a quick reply and hitting send.
[Terry is in the shower. I’m getting dressed now. We can talk in an hour - over breakfast. I’ll call Mr. Kim and help him with whatever we think should be done.]

The hour turned into more like two after Quinn finally got done with all the calls he had to make and finished up in the shower. They were currently thirteen hours ahead of the east coast but his father was still awake for some odd a** reason. Their conversation lasted a little bit but it basically boiled down to ‘trust your instincts, talk to Kim, and have some fun’. Gee, thanks dad, even sitting down at the restaurant it was hard not to roll his eyes at the mere thought of his father’s instructions to relax. How could he relax when a crazy person is trying to start world war three? Bah!
Frowning down at the menu, a mix of korean and english, Quinn didn’t read a damn thing. He was too mentally wrapped up in what they were going to do and what the crazy b*****d would likely be doing next. He wasn’t even concerned with their surroundings, a relatively crowded restaurant that catered to the foreign businessmen. Subdued and yet distinctive decorations helped give the whole place a very nice vibe and with how open it was even most of the conversations of even the next table over was muted. That's pretty much what you got when you ate brunch in a hotel’s restaurant, at least in this particular hotel. Quinn stewed over their next steps as he waited for his friend to join him. Seung knew that their meetup was going to be delayed so he wouldn’t have been waiting forever for Quinn but that now meant that he was the one waiting, all because he misjudged how long it would take to actually talk to his father. He was expecting a long talk rather than the shorter version he ended up having. Why did he ever agree to head this project!

After letting Terry know that he was going down to breakfast, or maybe lunch, with Quinn to talk over what to do considering the latest news Seung had headed down to the hotels restaurant. Dressed nicely, as opposed to his usual clothing, he still managed to stand out and not quite look like the business employee that he was. The hair, color not style, and the piercings did and not even his glasses could fix it really despite looking good on him.
Entering the restaurant it wasn’t hard to spot Quinn, blonds sort of stood out amongst all the people, so after pointing him out and letting a waitress know that he was with that man Seung made his way over. “Try something light, not too filling.” Slipping into the seat across from Quinn. “Seem stressed….don’t worry, not much to worry about. Few new things to do - but easy. You have me for help and Mr. Kim as well. Have a team under us to help and do work.” Though a lot would fall to them, as they were still at the top, Seung was willing and planning to take the brunt of this new workload. He wasn’t about to let Quinn take on more, it’s why he was here at Quinn’s side.
“Let me handle this new problem. We can hope the North will behave…” As he had for so long. Threats had been made and tests done...but nothing like this, nothing to worry the people really. Now was different though, he’d decided to be stupid.

Quinn started slightly when he heard a voice, Seung suggesting something light for brunch. He had been so absorbed in his own thoughts that the young man hadn’t even realized his friend had arrived… or that he had some how flipped to the more hearty section of the menu. “Oh, I, um, was kind of distracted. Didn’t even realize,” Quinn had started to put down his menu in order to stand up to greet Seung properly but the younger man had already slipped into the second seat and pretty much hit the nail on the proverbial head when it came to what had preoccupied Quinn. With a slight grimace, he didn’t like being that transparent, the young man closed his menu and turned his full attention on Seung.
“You two will have the best feel for our next steps but you know as well as I that there is no way in hell I’m letting you handle this on your own. You're right, it will probably be a pointless exercise in caution but It never really hurt to do prepare. Better safe than sorry right?” Personally Quinn thought that the rodent running the North was a bit like a kid having a tantrum but really, in this case the boy scouts had the right idea ‘Be Prepared’. Not that Quinn had ever been a boy scout, it wasn’t exciting enough for him when he was younger. Camping was all good but where was the adventure, the heart pounding thrill like snowboarding down a black diamond gave you?
ANYWAY… back to the mental track he should be on. Coughing into his fist as a way to cover his mental wandering Quinn flipped his menu back open, this time to the first few pages. “I was thinking a fruit crepe. Light but satisfying. What do you think? It's a little late for breakfast but too early for lunch and I do have that early dinner nonsense today.” He grimaced at the sheer thought of being stuck at a yet another snobbish dinner where he felt like a trained monkey performing for an audience. “Oh, you don't suppose,” Quinn brightened considerably as a thought crossed his mind, “I could cancel my attendance tonight by saying that we have to deal with this new mess? Do you?” His mossgreen eyes practically begging his friend to say yes. Or at least give him some other out. Anything really.

“I know you won’t let us handle it on our own - isn’t like you.” No, he knew Quinn well enough to know the other would want a hand in helping out, if only because he needed or wanted something to do. But Quinn also did care and this was still his project really, even if Seung was high right hand in all of this. “Yes, best be safe. For once people worried now and others upset - angry with him. No telling who will do what - here or there.” Or anywhere else really. It had never been a real issue but now it seemed like it might just become one. The idea of just how close the border was with Seoul was not a pleasant idea, not when the North had a leader like they did...who was doing what he was doing.
“That would work, healthy and light - not too filling. Healthy dessert maybe also, something good.” Since you didn’t want to fill up if you had a dinner, especially an early one, to attend. You’d likely be eating more and perhaps drinking, though he doubted Quinn would do any drinking if he could help it.
“I doubt it - would be impolite. Could cut short if getting a phone call for business.” Seung answered, deciding to give his friend an out. “Call from home in Destiny City - since time is very different.” He couldn’t get him out of it fully, which he knew the other wanted, but he could help him at least get out early. “Company back home wanting update on issues here and how are handling it.” While he called over for a waitress, his own menu open to the page filled with bingsu. He figured a nice fruit one would be a good brunch idea, healthy and refreshing on a hot day.

With their orders placed Quinn turned back to their conversations, the safety set up and his escape plan. “Mr. Kim said he would meet us at the office late afternoon right? Around 2ish? At least that's what my last text was from him before I came down here.” It was pretty bad form to use your phone in a restaurant, even by texting, as far as Quinn was taught so he even though they were busy today the young man kept it in his pocket. Anything that couldn’t wait would have required a phone call anyway. “I’ll have some good news for him when we meet up. Dad said that barring any vetoes from Kim we got our staff. They approved the resumes we sent them. It took longer than we thought it would but apparently the board stuck their noses into it and it got bogged down. Not that it matters now, just means we won’t be able to train hands on, just do a ‘welcome’ kind of thing if that.” Damn board. It would have been nice to actually get to know their new employees.
The young business man paused to sip his hot tea and glanced around, surprised by how many people there were still around. It was the middle of the morning and even though this was a hotel that catered to business there still seemed to be a lot of guys, and ladies, in suits hanging around the restaurant. Focusing back on his friend Quinn just grimaced and put down his cup. “Anyway, it sucks that I can’t just bail but ‘a phone call’ would be plausible. I’ll have to set an alarm or something that sounds like a ringtone.” He eyed Seung and made another suggestion, “or you know… you could always come along, bring Terry too. I’m pretty sure they would love to have you guys!” And with three of them there the attention on Quinn would be lessened. He might even be able to slip out without anyone noticing. When the hell did being a boss become rubbing elbows? He could handle hard work, he’s done it before, but endless boring parties. They just sucked.

“Yes, around then. We will be there by then.” He’d make sure of that, it would be best to not be late considering what they needed to discuss. Listening as the other mentioned the applicants, and who they were looking to hire, Seung found himself smiling. That was good news - really good news. That would give them full staff, not that it was a lot, but that was one step forward which was needed. “Don’t think he will have problems with choices.” And even if Mr. Kim did he didn’t think the older man would say much, if anything, to them. “Good thing it got done though with no problems.” No questions and none disapproved by the board - that was good. It all could have gone worse, and it hadn’t, so he was pleased with this even if it had taken longer than it should have. “We can arrange a dinner out - for everyone….before we leave. Mr. Kim can help hand train them...is qualified for that.” He had made sure when picking who would handle things, while they were in Destiny City, that the man could run things and handle the others they would be hiring.
“Don’t know how would go with us both there. I would be fine but I worry they might ask things about work Terry would not know...and how to explain him being there.” Without them finding out about himself and Terry. That was something he wanted kept secret, at least here and at the office here. He knew it still was a stigma and he didn’t need that mark on him or on the company as it would reflect on the company and on Quinn - it wouldn’t be good. “I can call you though - to talk and get you out of dinner if you would like. Might be best.”
When his choice, odd as it was, for brunch arrived he was pleased with the fresh fruit topping the powdery ice of the bingsu he’d ordered. It had the condensed milk on the side, which was fine with him, as he went to drizzle it around before mixing everything as gently as he could. “Can't risk anyone finding out about us.” Himself and Terry. It was a risk he didn’t want to take.

“That's something at least. A decent dinner would let everyone get a feel for each other. It still sucks though. If the board hadn’t dragged their feet we could have gotten them started in training.” Quinn groused, annoyed that the board were being a pain in their asses. Not that he hadn’t expected it because he totally did. It still sucked though. “Mr. Kim can handle it though, you're right about that.” The older gentleman was pretty much a godsend for Quinn who still felt like he had no clue what he was doing. It was still hard to realize that he was basically in charge of a dozen or so people. He was the one who would be paying them. Dealing with them. Caring about them. It felt odd… after so many years of trying to run away from responsibilities like this, then trying to do the right thing but ending up doing it so so badly, he was right back where he honestly never wanted to be. In charge of others. Blech, guess he will just have to get use to it.
Any further thoughts Quinn had about being ‘the boss’ slipped right out of his head when he saw what Seung ordered. He even missed his own food being put in front of him. “Did you order a giant snowball?” It was kind of hard to tell over all the fruit on it but Quinn could have sworn that it was a snowball, and looked a hell of a lot more appetizing than his own meal. Moss green eyes flicked down to his own food which was beautifully prepared with its own small mountain of fruit then back up to Seung’s food. In all honesty his crepe did look good but now that he saw the bingsu he kinda wished that that's what he had ordered too. It was tempting to just… reach across the table and snitch a spoonful of the mix that Seung was even now stirring together only to start slightly when he realized that Seung was talking. To make matters worse he was talking about why Terry and he couldn’t attend the dinner with Quinn which made the blonde feel even worse for not paying any attention while contemplating snitching some of his food. Damn.
Trying to hide his slip in manners Quinn quickly turned his attention to his own food. Focusing on the folded crepes and cutting them with more precision than they really needed even as he contributed to the conversation, “Oh. Right. Forgot about that. A phone call would be fine then. Sucks that you two can’t come but totally understand.”

Quinn might have tried to hide his looks but he had failed, rather horribly, as Seung had seen the looks his own food had been attracting from the blond. “This is bingsu. Is shaved snow, condensed milk...and other things. Can be different in places.” Grabbing one of the other spoons they had, meant for if a third person were sitting at their table, and scooped up some of his own food to offer up to the other. “Food here can be shared as a group meal. Help self to some if you want. If you like order one more then.” He said while holding the spoon to the others face, having made sure to get a bit of everything onto the spoon.
“Wish the board had not been so slow - but it happens especially on new venture like this. I will make call to save you from dinner.” He didn’t mind helping the other out, as he understood the other not wanting to spend so long there. It might seem rude, and it was really, but understanding it made the difference for Seung. If the board had been quicker in approving people they could have done more themselves, which would be more professional, but they at least had everyone hired and the office was set up. They’d had the people to set up the necessary things and the furniture had been put together, that had been an interesting performance by Quinn to watch. Mr. Kim was a needed player in this game and he was glad they’d found him, recently the place he’d worked at had gone under and he’d been worried about getting a new job at his age. He’d never had another job - only the one. It showed dedication and loyalty, both good qualities, Seung had been glad to accept him once he looked past appearances which he’d been taking into account at first. Quinn was right about things, no surprise, he would have missed the man had he looked at appearances.

Quinn took the offered spoon with a sheepish smile, “Thanks.” Apparently he hadn’t hidden his ‘I want to try it’ look as well as he had hoped although in all fairness Quinn figured he had been pretty apparent but that didn’t mean that he liked being so obvious about it. As he sampled the bingsu he indicated his own plate, more than willing to share. Seung’s food was an interesting combination and completely different than what he was expecting. To Quinn a snowball was shaved ice, a hell of a lot coarser than this stuff, topped in flavored syrup. It was sweet but not cloyingly so, at least to his taste buds. The fruit added a tangy and welcome addition to the rest. Definitely worth trying and something he would have to get next time but for now he would be content with the little bit Seung passed him.
Digging into his own food, after offering Seung some more if he wanted it, Quinn just nodded. They both knew that the board was likely to drag their collective feet, they had done so before when getting the whole venture off the ground. It a twisted way it made sense why they were so reluctant. They didn’t want to see them fail so they were making things harder which could actually lead them to fail. Pausing a moment to drink more of his tea, more or less tepad now unfortunately, the blonde nodded at his friend. “If I can’t get out of it at least a call will help. Anything really. The weather, how your date went… you two totally have to go on a date while I’m stuck in this party, new info on the adoption front. Anything at all. You could even read me the phone book.” He was so tired of parties so he would latch on to anyway to get him out of there even one second faster. Ironic for Quinn to be thinking that since he normally enjoyed such things. Just not business ones it seemed. Even as he was mentally wondering just how much he had fundamentally changed he went back to eating. Existential crises did not fill one’s stomach.
It wasn’t long before food was consumed, drinks finished, and bill paid; brunch was over. With a sigh of contentment Quinn sat back in his chair, “That hit the spot. We’ve got,” a quick glance at his watch provided the answer, “about two hours before we have to go into the office. I think I’ll poke around some of the local shops. You should go catch up with Terry.” The young man eyed the rapidly filling resturant, the noise level rising with the amount of people coming in for lunch. Maybe he wouldn’t go shopping… he did have paperwork he needed to finish. And if asked he could honestly say he took a break and had a decent meal, even if that's not what they meant. Yeah, that was a logical plan. “I think they need this table.” And with that Quinn got up and started to head back to the lobby and the elevators, his mind already going over the work he needed to get done.

Taking up the offer, since it was only polite, Seung did take a small sampling of the others food. It was, unsurprisingly, good. Though he motioned that Quinn could take more from his own food if he wanted, he wouldn’t mind, as he dug into his bingsu. He was more than happy to share, food was meant to be shared and enjoyed by people. Eating was a group thing, as it should be. It was also nice to see the other enjoying the foods here, Seung enjoyed watching people enjoy new experiences as it was interesting to see the expressions on their faces.
Laughing at the other telling him to take Terry out on a date, not that he needed to be told this, he nodded his head in acceptance. They did need to spend a bit more time out and enjoying themselves, he also wouldn’t mind doing some shopping and sending things home for them to enjoy back in Destiny City, he even sort of had a mental shopping list going on.
With food and drinks consumed and the idea of shopping being mentioned he shook his head, standing up as well and stretching. “Terry will be fine - time to shop for us. Went shopping with him and will again. Time to show you around and shop. Best technology and more here.” He said nodding his head. Having been trailing behind Quinn, as the other headed for the elevators, he reached out to grab his hand and pull the other back with him towards the doors out to the street. “Come on, one of best cities for shopping of all kinds and you have a friend who knows the city.” Telling the other to take advantage of it - to use him as a tour guide of sorts.
“Can bring things back for your mother and father too.” Though what he didn’t know. For Terry’s mother he’d brought her beauty products, lots of them, but there were also traditional items and all sorts of other possibilities. They had two hours to find something maybe, or at least get some shopping for Quinn done. Already he was pulling out his phone, while tugging Quinn along, and letting Terry know via text just what he was doing. Terry could, if he wanted, join them on this shopping trip. He did ask, he didn’t tell him what he was doing but asked if he wanted to join them instead...making it very open to Terry.
