Name: Ty'bar
Age: 36
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Homosexual
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: N/A
Physical Description: Standing an average height for a man with skin dark from birth and darkened further by a life lived outdoors, Ty'bar is hardly a forgettable person at the best of times. The dragonrider is a vibrant light in the face of a Thread-filled future and wears the carefree smile of someone that knows it. Were one born of gilded tongue to describe the face wearing the smile they would find the job difficult, as strong genetics meet Thread scars in a way as to make his once fine features unrecognizable. White teeth grin from his dark face and brown eyes, so light they appear rosy, flash impishly below a barely contained bush of onyx hair. If he has time, thick strands can be pulled into a haphazard tail behind his head, this is rare.

Ty'bar is broad across the chest and shoulders, but thin in the waist and possessed of a strength in his large calloused hands that makes him useful for any sort of physical labor placed before him. The rider stands at his full height regularly with no issue towards bad posture, his mother had simply not allowed slouching. This early motherly nagging served him well physically and Ty'bar made quite the cut image of a rider from his first days in flight. However no amount of mothering could prepare him clothing wise and his loose vest and thin breeches are in constant disrepair, patched and smudged and singed by dragon flame. The only worthwhile things he owns are a thick corded necklace his sister gave him and a large knife his father crafted for his twentieth birthday. Both are in as pristine condition as his active life will allow and receive nearly as much attention as Wianth in regard to their safety and preservation.

Scars litter his body, all from his first Thread fall, leaving silvery marks over his face, arms, and back that are worn with pride and honor. If any question his skills on the back of his wily green dragon in face of the scars, Ty'bar will go out of his way to prove how wrong they are. The scars that shape him are a constant reminder of why he flies and why the Thread must be met by every dragonrider if Pern is to survive.

Personality: Brimming with an almost hyperactive energy that has his own quick green making comments about how he glows when pent up too long, Ty'bar rarely sits unless he's sleeping or doing necessary paperwork. His favorite place to be is in the air with Asilaeth, regardless of the task they are attempting to accomplish, he will grin and offer his full attention and cooperation if it involves flying. That isn't to say that he has issue with helping with matters on foot, just that they tend to pale in comparison to the freedom of the air. Ty'bar's relationship with Asilaeth is incredibly strong as a result, the two acting as extensions of one another whether they are fighting thread or simply interacting after a long day.

Ty'bar enjoys being around others, no matter who they are or what profession they fill he believes everyone is his friend regardless of proof to the contrary. If someone isn't his friend it is simply because they haven't known him long enough to feel comfortable around him! Any rider in need of a favor need only mention the favor and Ty'bar will attempt everything to fulfill it, within reason. Smiles come quickly and easily to his scarred face in attempts to mask his insecurites about his various percieved flaws and weaknesses, the largest being his hearing loss. As a direct result he can be prone to anxiety in moments when he is completely alone and he strives to surround himself with others that will keep his mind from wandering down that particular dark hallway in his mind. This has lead to Ty'bar's strong workaholic tendencies and there are nights where he can be found cleaning or taking care of Asilaeth's needs well past lights out.

Though his honesty is comendable, Ty'bar can be overly blunt and has been known to insert his foot right into his own mouth if given the opportunity. The truth is honest and if it has to it hurts! White lies are not his thing, another person or dragon should not put their feelings on the line around him if they are at all fragile. Ty'bar will simply steam-roll right over them without noticing any offense he may have caused. There have been fights.

Positive Trait List Helpful, Friendly, Honest
Negative Trait List Blunt, Overly Familiar, Insecure
History: Son of two riders originally stationed at Benden Weyr before transferring to High Reaches Weyr, Tyrinbar is the eldest of his siblings and the only boy. His mother was both forcefull and loving, expecting the absolute best from each of her children while also giving them the life she always wished they could have with the opportunities for dragon riders in High Reaches Weyr. As for his father, the man was everything to his children and wife. T'nak was a bronze rider who loved life and wanted the best for his small family no matter what the cost was to himself. Though he picked them up and moved them twice before they ended up at High Reaches Weyr, he did his best to instill a deep level of trust in community fostered by working together with everyone regardless of station. Tyrinbar loved his father deeply and took his teachings to heart as he was growing up, trying always to impress him with everything that he did.

His first impression was no different, but as he stood there, weyr brat having grown up around dragons his whole life, nothing called to him. No bronze, no brown or blue or even green. Silence met him and it dug into his heart so deeply that it left a sliver there that would lead to a deeper level of anxiety for his failings that stood to affect his future. His sisters, not far behind him in age, came to stand with him one at a time at his next two impressions and each impressed a dragon. A green and a blue dragon joined their family, his parents and their dragons were proud and boasted happily to any that would listen about their daughters impressions. Tyrinbar was cast into his bright family's shadow and never managed to make his way back out of it.

Somehow it didn't affect his happy and relaxed personality and Tyrinbar threw himself into learning new crafts to find his purpose in life as it became clearer and clearer to him with each impression that he would never impress a dragon. With each new craft that he sampled he learned things that rounded out his character and made him more useful to those around him. In between learning he resigned himself to drudge work and spent as much time around the dragons he loved as he could, even offering to care for his parents and sisters dragons after flight trainings. His constant failings at each impression he continued to try in his late teens sent the sliver of silence futher into his heart, his anxiety grew stronger and caused him to search out people to keep him company so that he was never alone with his problems. This lead to a number of encounters with drudges, weyr brats around his age, and young riders that would keep Tyrinbar company both during the day and in the dangerous silence of his nights. To the initial displeasure of his mother, they were all young men that served only to warm her son's bed for a short time before they were gone. Not a single relationship with any boy lasted much longer than a month, but Tyrinbar would tell his family that he was having fun with each of them during that time.

When he was eighteen Tyrinbar met another weyr brat his own age at an impression that both failed to impress at. Cornat was a large teenager with proud features and a gentle nature that made him instantly attractive to the lonely and anxiety riddled Tyrinbar and the two started a relationship that took his breath away. It was love at first sight to him and Corant and they knew that they were supposed to be together despite their young age and the discouragement that arose from their parents. Corant offered a way to avoid further scrutiny not long into their relationship, but it was put on hold after Tyrinbar got into a fight with two drudges that had been running their mouth. His face bore a scar from the fight and it served as a constant reminder to Cornat that there were those around them who disliked their relationship enough to hurt them. None of it mattered though, they had one another and could lean off of each other when times got tough. The next time that they stood for an impression was just over a year later and Cornat impressed a brilliant bronze dragonet named Aratasth who he fell in love with instantly. Though Tyrinbar was proud of him and overjoyed for him to find a partner in the little bronze, it was a strain on their already stressed relationship for him to still be dragon-less.

It proved to be too much for them and they went their seperate ways, C'nat even going so far as to leave and join Benden Weyr rather than continue to be around the man he'd loved. Tyrinbar was inconsolable at first and dove into drudge work to keep his mind off the loss by turning it off and doing as much physical work as possible. The days turned into weeks and months as he made his way in the Weyr even without his former lover or the support of his now estranged family who had turned their backs to his struggle. Each failed impression that he was pushed into turned him further into himself until the once bright and happy boy was a dark and sullen shadow of his former self.

At age twenty one he had given up hope, his eyes consistantly downcast at impressions before leaving to go fulfill work as a drudge. Finally one day the shadow opened his eyes to blink once and saw a bright rainbow spiraling into his brown eyes. It was the most beautiful thing he had seen and warmth spread through his heart as the small and weak green hatchling climbed its way up his body and right into his soul. Faceted eyes swirled from rainbow into purple as the small female asserted her devotion and then hunger in a monotone voice that ushered up the first laugh Tyrinbar had emitted in a long time. Almost immediately his personality spun one-eighty and the bright and happy person he had once been rose to the surface once more. It was the beginning of his true love story, one that was as harshly frowned upon by his bronze rider father as his list of former lovers. How could he impress a green dragon when he was a man born to two strong riders? The question was posed by both of his parents to the delight of his younger sisters; Tyrinbar's response was always the same, "Your opinions don't matter, only Asilaeth." The newly renamed Ty'bar turned his back on his once loving family, concerned about the change in their personalities in response to the environment around them. One that he questioned he fit into as well as they did.

The ushering from drudge to dragonrider was abrupt and Ty'bar's life changed forever as he began to care for the ravenous little green dragon who's world he was more than happy to dive into. High Reaches expected the best of their riders and dragons both, structured trainings and rigid restraint became the everyday for the new pair as they learned each other's abilities and personalities. Despite Asilaeth's constant hunger, Ty'bar learned to control it for the two of them as she grew and grew to her full length, it became easier as weeks and weeks passed and they grew closer, better trained. The Weyr taught him his place in the heirarchy of dragonmen and Asilaeth taught him his place in the world as he grew into a strong and capable rider.

Turns passed and locations changed, Ty'bar bid farewell to the Weyr that raised him and trained him, goodbye to the family that had forsaken him due to his lifestyle and his beloved little green. His life at Western Weyr was hard and fulfilling, the climate suited Asilaeth perfectly and she became a fantastic flier in her new location. The adjustment to the new Weyr was quick despite the sometimes difficult manner of life there and the pair settled into a wing where their talents flourished under the wingleader's leadership. Having trained at High Reaches Weyr Ty'bar was more than capable flying in a wing but tragedy still struck during the first Threadfall when the wings were scrambling to respond to the ancient threat. A blue dragon and their rider swerved into Asilaeth's path, causing her to jerk out of the way to avoid their flame. Right into a rock wall.

By the time Ty'bar came to he was in bed and all he could hear were Asilaeth's screams in his head. Despite his injuries and against the advisement of those attempting to hold him to the bed, Ty'bar ran to his dragon who could not stop calling his name and apologizing over and over. It was some time before she calmed down and longer yet for the newly thread scarred rider to realize that her voice was the only thing he was hearing. Asilaeth informed him that he had been thought dead, unconscious for nearly four days from a head injury. The small green had managed to catch him as he fell from her back after hitting his head, her sides and left wing damaged when she wrapped herself around him to keep him safe. Though he was initially startled and completely frightened by the concept of losing his hearing some of it came back, loud noises and deep sounds still came through the damage done to his ears and Asilaeth translated as often as she could, offering advice to him to pay attention to everything around him. Nearly half a turn passed before he was able to get back onto Asilaeth's back, back to a semi normal life. At least as normal as he was able to make it.

Rather than succumb to life as a grounded former dragonrider, Ty'bar utilized a mix of his dragon's intelligence and his own natural competency to learn how to read lips and body language. When she is with him Asilaeth can translate words for him, but as that cannot be constantly he learned to hold conversations by paying close attention to everything. His ever positive attitude and desire to help fight the Thread that damaged both himself and his dragon go a long way to aide him in paying attention to everything around him.
Other: He's still working on getting back into fighting Thread again and is trying to come up with a way to keep in formation with his wing and contact with his leaders while also being unable to hear them very well.

DRAGON
Name: Asilaeth
Age: 15
Color: Green
Size: 19'
Physical Description: Elegant, dainty, beautiful, and slight have all been used to describe Asilaeth's physique and they are all correct! Her sleek body and delicate head are paired with wide wings and calloused clawed hands though, proof of her hard working routine in life and her dedication to fighting thread. Her slightly larger wings give her lift and speed when she should be awkward and this helps Asilaeth when it comes to her rider's comfort and desires. While she will never outfly the larger bronzes and golds there are many dragons that will only see the flap of her pale wings or the designs on her neck and hips as she streaks by.
Personality: Asilaeth is not nearly as outgoing as her beloved Ty'bar. Her calmer demeanor is a good balance to his hyper nature and she has been known to talk him out of going beyond his physical capabilities when he becomes foolish. This does not mean that she is not just as active as he is, however she knows full well how to spread her energy out across her days rather than waste it all in one go. This stamina is uncommon in the smaller green dragons generally but Asilaeth has loads to spare. If anyone asks she'll tell them that she leeches off of Ty'bar. It is still unconfirmed if this is reality. Stand by.

Inexpressive at the best of times, Asilaeth's voice is a completely flat monotone that can be off-putting to those dragons that make an effort to talk to her. Due to this, most dragons avoid her presence. Her stoic and calm exterior hides a razor sharp sense of humor that she releases in bursts of sarcastic deadpan snark. No one is safe, least of all her beloved and exhausting rider who pushes her nearly past her allowable levels of humor. Asilaeth loves any kind of humor but has a particular love of anything corny and silly and will bounce the jokes off her rider to make him laugh at random and often inappropriate times. Given her monotone voice, the jokes make Ty'bar laugh all the harder.

Unwavering in her loyalty to rider, Weyr, and dragon kind, Asilaeth is protective of all three and is willing to give her life in the fight against Thread. This strong desire to protect and be of use stems from the tragedy that took most of Ty'bar's hearing and the guilt that still riddles her whole being as a result. Thanks to her blistering intelligence Asilaeth can often serve as a second set of ears for him, though this is only when the two are together.

Approved. Right now he is ICly grounded from Threadfall, and that's something he'll have to work up to.
