Well this was a predicament.
Bifrost looked around, following the wispy gray fog for a moment. Whatever entrance she'd used was no longer visible, and no amount of poking at the fog led to a door, a window, or even something other than more fog.
She'd been getting ready to go out to patrol when her mirror decided it was going to eat her instead. It made no sense, but then again in her tenure as a knight, nothing had really made sense if she was quite honest.
Bifrost turned, cloak swishing a little, and blinked. Lilac eyes widened slightly, then softened as a smile grew on her face.
"Midgard!" She waved and clasped her hands in greeting, resisting the urge to tackle the poor man and hug him. Barely.

He did not know how he ended up here.
One moment he was out, patrolling - despite Fiona and Danny's disapproval - and the next...he had been swallowed by a mirror. Okay, that sounded weirder when he put it into words, but that was exactly what had happened.
Midgard had been passing by a building and there happened to be a full length mirror against the wall and - poof he was off the streets and in this...place.
He struggled to understand what it was going on as he looked into a mirror that just reflected back at him. Putting his hand against the glass did nothing and he was startled when someone said his name.
Midgard!
At least that was a clue that he was with a friend and not a foe. His actual name was something closely guarded, because he feared what people would do if they could find a true way to track him.
His chest hurt and his gloved hands rested over it when he turned around.
"Bifrost," he breathed, looking a bit relieved when he offered her a weak smile. One arm moved to the side to welcome her to him. "Do you know where we are?"

Bifrost took the arm gesture as cue to hug him, and wrapped her arms around him in a squeezing hug. The bubbly Chronos knight practically beamed at him as she pulled away and rocked back on her heels.
I dunno... It's not a place I've been too before. And I've been... several places," she said, tapping her chin in thought. She had, actually, been in several different places in her time as a knight, though none so... smokey.
"Whatever it is... it's messing with our powers, I think. I can't power down.... or feel hunger? That's an odd one," she said after a moment, glancing back at him. She didn't have much else to note; it was just a gray room. It wasn't anywhere on earth or the Surrounding at least.

The arm wrapped around her, squeezing her smaller frame as she hugged him. Being able to physically know that she was solid and real, not some crazy hallucination, was comforting and he smiled a little more warmly at her when she pulled away.
Like Charlie and Danny, Bifrost was a bright light that shined with enough positivity that he felt like maybe everything that should have been impossible was incredibly possible with them by his side.
"I...don't know if I've been here." His brow furrowed, green eyes blinking as he tried to sort through his shattered memory.
It came up blank. (Of course it did.)
A gloved palm pressed against the surface of one of the many mirrors that made up the room. When he pushed, nothing happened and he frowned. "If that's how we came in I don't think we're getting back out."

Bifrost frowned a little at that, but she knew enough about where Midgard had come from to connect the dots of his thoughts on the matter. She looked in a mirror near her, the glow of her transcendence tattoos reflected back at her and nodded.
"If there's one thing I've learned in the last four or five years, it's that the cosmos has a way of putting you exactly where you need to be, and not letting you leave until you find out why," she told him, glancing at Midgard. The Surrounding had demanded her presence and bequeethed her the power of the Bifrost. Olympus had demanded she purify the code, and thus they had. She may have run from her duty several times, but the universe had a way of making it painfully obvious of where she needed to be.
Usually with force.
"How have you been since we spoke last?" she asked, changing the topic for now. It had been quite a while since she'd seen him. Bifrost was not the best at keeping up with the rest of the Chronos knights - not that they were easy to find half the time. "Besides gaining the rank of knight. Congratulations on that, by the way."

Bifrost reassurance was a blessed thing and he offered her a weary smile. His hand came to rest over his heart, absentmindedly rubbing at the cloth that covered the stitches on his chest. It still hurt and was still healing.
He did his best to hide the wince when he pushed against torn skin too roughly from her.
"At least we are not alone." His voice wavered slightly but he hoped that she did not notice. Midgard wondered if it was better or worse that they were trapped together, but at least then he knew that Mary - Bifrost - was safe. It made him worry for Charlie, Fiona, and Danny. Were they safe?
He prayed to Chronos that they were. He didn't know what he would do if they weren't.
"I-- I have fared better than I do now. I shouldn't have been out tonight, but you know how restlessness settles in my bones."

Bifrost gave him a comforting smile. "I know. It settles in mine at times too." The knight plopped down on the floor and patted the space next to her. Might as well sit if there wasn't a way out yet.
"Well..." she said, fluffing her shoulders a bit. "Oh! Do you like tea? My grandmother and I have tea in the afternoons if you'd like to come join! She's a sweet lady," said Bifrost with a beaming little smile. Out of left field, but honestly she figured Midgard might need a safe place to get out of the house, that didn't involve falling through mirrors or space or chaos.
Besides her grandmother would love him.

Moving to sit beside Bifrost was easy, in theory. Actually sliding down to join her required careful movements that didn't jostle his wounded, still healing chest. Still, he managed and he was beside her in no time at all.
"It is the nature of it, being as we are?" He mused quietly, thinking that perhaps restlessness settled in Fiona's bones too and that's where her strong conviction bubbled from in times of trouble.
He only hoped to be as strong as the people in his life were.
One day.
Bifrost's voice forced him to refocus and he offered a tired smile, feeling energy seeping from him. "I do like tea." His smile was weary but broad. "I would like that, very much."

She smiled at him, pleased that he wanted to go to tea. "My grandmother knows of the Chronos knights, in broad terms. Her estate is quite full of the Chronos symbols, oddly enough. Descendant knights and all that," she said, stifling a yawn. Bifrost hadn't realized how tired she was and swayed a little. Clearly, she needed more sleep. Another trip to her wonder was in order as well she thought, though she could have sworn she'd just come back from it...
Without much thought, she leaned over and rested her head on his shoulder, eyes closing. It was nice to have someone to lean on again, even as friends. It was nice to have anyone at all in her life again, to be fair. Nuxaz SEVERAL HUNDRED YEARS LATER... i respond

"Ah, that makes things..." he trailed off, distracted by the weariness that was settling in his bones in an entirely new manner. "Easier..." he finished by sheer determination. "I don't know much--"
He shook his head, trying to push back the fog of exhaustion as it tried to wrap around him. When she leaned against him, he wrapped his arm around her in what he hoped was a comforting manner.
Bifrost had always been strong around him, he hoped to match her level of strength one day.
His eyes closed.
The ground gave out beneath them and he clung to her as they fell.
