He'd nursed a small headache for the last hour or so, though it was clearing up thanks to a small dose of medication he'd gotten from the infirmary. Merric sat now in one of the dormitory lounges, absently leafing through a book entitled with something about the scientific method.
He wasn't really reading. Merric's thoughts were lightyears away, one leg crossed over the other, the book in his lap. He was on the end of one of the couches, one of his arms propped with his elbow on the armrest, his fingertips pressing lightly against his temple, Merric's head tilted against them.
He considered briefly going to the labs, or maybe training again, but couldn't bring himself to get up.

Lysander didn't do a lot of walking about, but when he did it was at a very sedate and stately sort of pace. After all it wasn't like he needed to hurry, it wasn't like there was anything to actually do on the island.
Looking for something to do was more or less why he'd decided to go for a walk, a bit sore from sitting in place and doing nothing. Going outside was still not something that was advised right now, so he was stuck indoors, and people were usually a good source of entertainment so he was looking for people too.
He didn't expect to hit the jackpot.
"Oh hey Merric." he said lazily, sitting down on the couch next to him. "Reading anything interesting?"
There probably was nothing he'd ever read that was interesting that wasn't about horses.

He didn't hear anyone approaching until Lysander actually spoke, Merric jumping a little; his hands fumbled to catch the book, which had slipped a little off of his lap, fingers grasping at the pages until he could pull it back to where it had been.
The couch dipped under Lysander's weight. Merric turned to look at him and felt his chest tighten involuntarily, struggling for a brief, internal moment, to calm himself and remind himself not to act like an idiot.
It was not easy.
"Just...science," he said, with a glance down at the book. "I was trying to look up something, but I'm not...my mind isn't really on it, admittedly, so I've been just sort of...sitting here thinking instead. I doubt it's a very interesting book to anyone not involved in the sciences."
Merric's eyes flickered back to Lysander, brow furrowing. "What are you doing? Just taking a walk?"

Lysander seemed pretty pleased by the way Merric startled at his comment, smiling in satisfaction. It was very dramatic and it made him feel impressive rather than annoying.
He did however look like he'd lost interest in the book the moment its content was brought up, that familiar glazed sort of look coming over him. "Science." he said. "I'm always impressed you can study that stuff. I'd fall asleep. Even if it was a good science book I'd be bored."
He nodded. "Taking a walk. Looking for trouble." he said, smirking.
And then his tone altered subtly. "In that vein, did I ever tell you Roswell changed his mind?"

The satisfied look made the beginnings of a faint red touch Merric's face, but he couldn't help but smile himself, just a little, at Lysander's obvious and immediate disconnect from the scientific aspect of things; it was just so very like him that Merric couldn't help it.
"It's not for everyone," he conceded, fingers sliding along the spine of the book, as Merric looked down at it. "I've had years of studying and I still find many aspects excruciatingly dull myself."
The looking for trouble comment made his heart thud, but it wasn't until the rest of the sentence followed and Lysander's voice dipped that it gave a painful crash inside of his chest. Merric's head snapped up, twisting to look at Lysander with wide, startled eyes, lips parting in shock.
The red was deepening across his face, suffusing his cheeks.
"I...he what?"

"Yes." he said. "We discussed things very carefully and he was upset about tone more than anything else. With me respecting him rather than assuming I can do what I want he's fine with well....you." and he gave him a grin. "You are, after all a friend, and I have of course been sharing everything you've been sending me with him."
He found he was having fun already, his search had worked out just fine.
"Of course, the no pressure stance still holds." and he smiled. "Nothing will be said about it if you aren't interested. However if you were to say, invite me to your room, well."
He adjusted his collar. "That could be construed as an invitation."

His mind was having trouble processing this. Merric's mind went from the initial kiss, the ensuing proposition, the conversation with Roswell, the following...sharing, to this moment in time the confusing rapidity of his thoughts trying to make sense of it all.
He had intended to say no to Lysander's first offer; had not wanted to do anything to ruin what he saw as something altogether out of his league when it came to Lysander and Roswell, even if saying no was not in Merric's wheelhouse of strengths at all. Which had been before his talk with Roswell, who had said, most of all, not now, not no.
It did not surprise him at all to learn that everything had been shared with Roswell, though it did make Merric a little hot around the collar. His fingers clenched on the book in his lap, chest tightening with every breath, because Roswell had said okay.
The dawning possibilities of what could come to pass from this were opening up in front of Merric. Even with all of his promises, even with his attempts at keeping himself calm, the wanting had not gone away; it simmered now in Merric's heart, pulsing outwards.
There was no if you aren't interested.
"I..." He swallowed hard, willing his voice to stay calm. "...I don't have duty today. And my room is...is...currently empty."

Lysander's initial hesitations had come from Merric's inexperience and the fact that he had a romantic vision of the man's first encounter being one with someone equally shy and willing to accommodate his every concern with care and attention. But at this point he figured he'd given him more than enough time to get out if that was what he wanted and time and time again he'd stayed.
He was a big boy and he could make his own life choices, Lysander had offered and it was up to him to hold open the door.
And it was clear that the door was well and truly being held.
"Good." he said brightly. "That should certainly help with the boredom I was suffering from."
He patted Merrics shoulder. "You are going back to your room to get rid of those clothes. I'm going to go get a few things and I will be right over. If you have any second thoughts at any point about anything then the word panda will be your key to getting out once its over the threshold."
He smirked. "Once you see what you've gotten into."

It was an effort not to ask Lysander to kiss him right then and there, if only because that would have been ridiculously desperate seeming, even if a small part of Merric was desperate. But not so desperate that he was out of control of his own senses, and not so desperate that he was not fully aware of what he was doing and what was going to be happening.
He had spent the last several weeks privately (and in some cases, not so privately) yearning and wanting more than he had ever allowed himself to before; and with it had been the equally strong desire not to destroy the equilibrium of friendship between all three of them.
But he was going to be allowed this. Roswell had said yes, which meant that it was consensual on all sides.
Lysander's touch, however casual and fleeting, sent a shiver down Merric's spine. He was startled at the key word given to him, but it was subsumed in the feeling fluttering low in his stomach and the way Lysander was smirking at him.
"...all right," said Merric, swallowing again. "Okay."

He didn't move off the couch but instead gestured in the direction of the other man's room.
"On you go then." he said, and if Merric complied, gave his rear end a smack as he got up.

He made a startled, half strangled sound at the smack, nearly dropping his book again, Merric flushing red from his head to his toes. But he just gave a nod and kept going, making his way - with a little effort - back to his room, which fortunately, was not that far away.
Inside, he leaned with his back against the closed door, eyes momentarily closed, Merric trying to remember how to breathe again. The book was clutched against his chest, his heart beating out of his throat, and after a few seconds, he felt at least a little steadier; steady enough, at least, to finally set down the book.
Shoes first, his mind said, and was followed by the most basic of instructions on how to properly undress, body moving on autopilot. The only thing left on, because he hadn't been sure if Lysander had meant all of his clothes (he probably had, but still), was his dress shirt, though the collar was unbuttoned and he'd removed the tie.
Now all that was left was to...wait. And the waiting was making him antsy.

Lysander took his own detour back to his room and picked up a bag of things he figured he might well need, got changed, left a note for Roswell if he was looking for him and made his way back to Merric's room.
When he got there he let himself in.

It was sometime late, though Merric had long since lost track of the time. A part of him - the part of him that overthought everything constantly - was, for once, entirely shut off, so that he was focused on nothing except how tired he was and how different he felt.
And the fact that Lysander was next to him, the warmth of his skin a simple pressure against Merric's bare arm. It was a sensation that still, on some level, felt illicit somehow, as though he wasn't supposed to have it; but it was very, very real, and he did have it.
Merric felt boneless and exhausted, eyes half lidded as he turned his head to look at Lysander, giving himself the small, private indulgence of being able to let his gaze drift idly down Lysander's bare torso before his gaze moved back to his face.
"Thank you," he said, after a moment, voice low and hoarse. "That was..."

Lysander was completely and utterly exhausted. He didn't usually go all out with anything, but given that it was Merric's first (and second, and third times) he had figured that he had both better take it slow and also do what he could to make it memorable. Even resting up and re-fuelling between hadn't taken the edge off the eventual crash, and though he was buzzing and content, he was also not about to let himself forget the importance of courteous aftercare either.
For all that he was a bit of an a*****e when he was being callous, Lysander could be attentive when the mood actually took him.
He gave Merric a very lazy smile for his comment, finally seeming to relax the rigid and dominant attitude he'd carried the whole time, returning things to normal, to an easy place where Merric was equal to him once again and they were good friends.
"It takes two to tango." he said. "So thank you too." he crossed his arms lazily behind his head. Up close and personal he was very fuzzy as people generally went and even when completely undressed he kept on his rolex and his platinum necklaces.
"You are a really good partner, very obedient. Love that in someone." he gave him a look over again before exhaling. "Guess all of this does mean I'm gay I guess." he made a tch sound. "Still think I'll keep it on the down low."
He always looked comfortable wherever he was reclining but seemed extra specially right now. "How's about a cuddle?" he said cheekily.

He felt...different.
It was a wholly new and slightly confusing feeling, but not unpleasant, far from unpleasant. Like a weight had been taken off of Merric's shoulders, a weight he had been carrying around for much too long, and that had been bearing down on him like an actual, physical thing.
For once in his life, he had wanted something, and he had been allowed to have it, and it felt like a breath of fresh air.
The smile made his own grow, just a little, though it still had an edge of shyness to it, because Merric was Merric, and habits were hard to change - in spite of the fact that they had just spent several hours changing Merric's entire life around. The dominance he had seen displayed on several occasions in just casual encounters had turned into something far more intense, and Merric found it suited Lysander.
"I...I'm glad that you - that it wasn't bad for you," Merric said. He was still flushed after everything, but the once over was another reminder that it had happened at all. "I was...worried that I wouldn't - that it wouldn't satisfy you at all," he amended.
The cheeky question almost made him want to laugh. Merric said, with the faintest touch of cheekiness in return, "...am I allowed to?"
His smile faded after a moment, replaced by quiet curiosity instead.
"Does that...bother you at all? Admitting that? About...about being gay, I mean."
