It could be argued that Whisler spent far too much time in front of a mirror. It could be argued that when he was powered up, he damn well had to, there were just so many aspects of his outfit that he had to make sure were perfect. There were people that he liked to see, and he had no intention of letting them see him as anything less than his best.
Of course…had this been a few years ago, there would have been other reasons to be near a mirror, though those were long gone now, sometimes habits died hard. Today though, as he was adjusting the strings of crystals in his hair to just the right positions, the mirror…did something quite unexpected…and one moment he was looking at his own fantastic expression…and the next he was on his butt in some unfamiliar place, frowning.
…Okay. This wasn’t…what he had planned on doing for the evening. He glanced around and saw a young looking senshi there with him as well. Interesting…he would have rather it been Alya or Ashanite…but this would at least be someone to talk to. “Uh…Hey there. Interesting place this is, hm? Are you okay?” She looked so little. Senshi really did start out young sometimes. It really…wasn’t very fair. “Do you know how…we got here?” Because he had utterly no idea whatsoever.

Xenia knew there were a whole lot of things in this weird magical war she wasn't familiar with on any level. A lot. She was definitely, 100% certain, especially, that no one had ever told her to beware her bedroom mirror, because she definitely would have remembered that and definitely would have been more careful. She'd powered up as soon as she felt the strange tug, panicking -- and she tumbled out the other side in full ruffly Sailor Xenia attire, feeling very bitter about the whole thing.
"Ow," she said, grouchily, and then she looked up and there was suddenly someone else, much older, and he felt like Dinara but...stronger and somehow brighter.
"Uh," she said, and then she felt stupid because she wasn't some dumb kid, really, "hi, yeah, I'm fine, and no, I have....no idea how we got here," she laughed nervously. "One minute I was in my room, looking in the mirror, getting ready to go out for the night and the next...." She gestured. "I'm here."
She looked around for anything resembling an entrance or exit. There did not appear to be one.
"....So, uh. got a deck of cards? I think we might be here a while."

Whisler nodded, frowning slightly. “I was out for the night, just looking at myself in a mirror and now poof, I’m here…so that’s interesting…” Frustrating, but interesting. He idly wondered if there were others getting sucked into mirrors too…and how that might even be possible. “So…I’ll take it this hasn’t happened to you before either…? Oh, I’m Whisler, by the way. Knight of Polaris. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” He held out a hand and smiled, wondering how they were going to get out of here…and why this girl wasn’t more nervous about that.
“Really? You think I should have a deck of cards? That’s…a very interesting way to look at things. What if we’re trapped in here forever? It might be some sort of trick from the Dark Mirror Senshi…I don’t really remember much of them…I mean, I’ve met a few, I think I used to date one, but that was a lifetime ago…”
He chuckled softly and shrugged. “If we got in here due to mirrors, they seem like fine people to blame, don’t you think?” The knight turned to look around the room and sighed. “…But now that you’ve mentioned it…cards do seem like they would make time pass a little quicker…maybe I’ll start carrying some on me from now on, just in case I get stuck somewhere. Good idea…”

Xenia hummed. So mirrors were the common denominator, here. "Nope, never happened to me before. Hi, I'm Xenia," she took his hand and shook it, "it's nice to meet you!" Might as well make the best of this. Maybe she'd miss school tomorrow, which meant missing that stupid test.
See, think positive.
"I mean," she shrugged her shoulders, "I'm not sure how we'd end up trapped here forever. What's a Dark Mirror, by the way?" She coughed, a little awkwardly. "Uh, sorry. I'm...kinda new at this. Kinda." And it would be a terrible idea to admit that her biggest source of information was a Negaverse agent. "I mean, I'd guess mirrors are their thing, obviously."
Very, very obviously. She could have kicked herself for acting like such a stupid kid.
"And, y'know, you can never be too prepared!"

“Hmmm” Whisler gave a little smile, nodding. “Well…a Dark Mirror is uh…a kind of senshi? Kind of like you, but they wear black, and they’re part of chaos…not like, Negaverse…they’re kind of strange, I haven’t had that many interactions with them so I can’t give a really good bunch of information…but they kind of seemed to be at least a little decent…they’re more into talking, at least that’s the impression that I’ve got…though, this could change my mind if it is their fault.”
He fiddled with a piece of his hair and sighed. “So…you’re new at this, hm? How are you liking it so far? It’s interesting, isn’t it? Finding out about all of this stuff and figuring out how best to protect the people you care about and love…”
He shrugged and pushed halfheartedly against the wall. “It’s a learning experience, I’ll say. And you face so many challenges, but…I’m glad you’re with us. Everyone plays an important part in things, and you were awakened for a reason, don’t forget that.”
Whisler rubbed at one of the snowflakes on his hand and seemed almost unhappy. It was so easy to give advice and talk things up for others, but he didn’t feel that anything he said applied to him at all.
Ever.
It was…a terrible way to feel, and he wished he could be the person that he tried to inspire others to be.

Xenia nodded along with his explanation. That was...interesting, actually. There were so many sides in this fight, and none of it was black and white at all. It was possible, she supposed, that the Dark Mirror was making a move against...everyone, but that seemed kind of dumb.
"Thanks!" she said, because it was the polite thing to do. "I appreciate you helping me out." She scuffed her boot against the strange smoky ground, a little guiltily. "It's...it's definitely been something." She looked up. "I really like it so far, though, everyone's been great and I just...love being magical, y'know?"
Her eyes were drawn to the glow on his hand when he rubbed atr it, and they widened briefly with surprise. There it was - that must have been what Wavellite was so afraid of seeing happen to her!
"Uh, I dunno if this is insensitive, but how'd you start glowing? Does it mean something?" She asked. "My girlfriend mentioned it, once, and I've been kinda curious ever since." Because she had to know how to avoid it, so that when she was ready she could run to Chaos with open arms.

Whisler blinked, looking down at his hand and giving a little, rather uncomfortable sounding laugh. “Oh, yeah these. Ah, yeah. They’re pretty much protection, having them means I can’t corrupt…I uh, I’m still not really sure how it happened…but…” He trailed off and shrugged, his expression somewhat unhappy. “You get them when you’re super close to your planet or wonder, I guess. Honestly, I really don’t know much about it, but I suppose it makes me look…dashing, yeah? It works for me, right? Adds to my good looks?”
He waggled his eyebrows for a moment and then thought better of it, slumping back against the wall. “I know of others who have them too…we call ourselves transcended…and they all feel super protected with the marks, because they’re safe from corruption…but I don’t know. I just kind of feel…trapped? If that makes sense? It’s taken away my freedom of choice, I guess. I don’t know. Even that sounds stupid because in a way, I suppose I chose this…but…”
The knight paused and gave a grin. “I am so sorry, it’s a super touchy subject with me, you shouldn’t have to listen to all of my stupid rambling…I’m so glad you like being a senshi, I’m sure you’ll do everyone proud and make a big difference in this war. I can see that you’re a tough little nugget, and I am more than allowed to call you that, for I am old.”

Huh. Xenia noticed that he looked uncomfortable, and filed that away as "kind of interesting." From what she could tell, that seemed like something to celebrate...if you were 100% loyal to Order. But that didn't sound like what he was feeling.
Maybe he was more of a kindred spirit than she'd thought he might be. Maybe this was someone she could talk to a little bit more openly about what she actually wanted to do, who she actually wanted to be. Because if he was agonizing about having the choice taken away, that meant he had to have thought about the choice a lot, right?
So she let him finish talking, though she was obviously leaning in, hanging on every word.
"No, no, it's okay! Don't feel bad for....I mean, for feeling bad." She said. "I think it matters a lot that you've given it a lot of thought, you know? Didn't just say 'oh, yay, I'm sparkly now, everything's perfect and I'm happy with Order forever.'" She said. "And you don't seem that old, and I'm fourteen, not a baby."
Okay, okay. She was maybe a baby to him.
"Can I uh, tell you something, Whisler?" She stared down at her hands, twiddling her thumbs, mock-demure. "I've...thought about it. Corrupting, I mean. The other side doesn't seem nearly as bad as I got told they were."

Whisler nodded slowly, letting out a breath he hadn’t quite realized that he’d been holding. “Well…Yeah. I just…” He paused when she confided this last bit to him, and slowly nodded. “You’ve thought about corrupting? You’d look very nice in black. It would compliment your colors nicely.”
The words were soft, just short of encouraging. He knew that he shouldn’t be encouraging corruption…but at the same time…he wanted people to be happy with where they stood in the war. “I used to be with chaos. A long time ago…I uh…I don’t remember why I left it, but something drove me out, though…I have to admit…there’s still a big part of me that yearns for the soft touch of chaos…I’m just…I don’t want to give up my memories again. And there’s people that I care about too much to leave but…”
He swallowed, shrugging. “But I still want to go home, if we’re being honest with one another. And I have someone who’s going to be helping me…or so he claims.”
Pausing, Whisler reached out and tugged lightly on a piece of stray hair that hung by the chibi’s face. “You do know the risks though, don’t you? You know you’ll lose memories, you won’t be entirely you anymore. But, I can’t blame you. The pull to darkness is too strong to avoid. I hope we can be friends when you embrace the dark. I’ll never hurt you, at any rate.”

Xenia nodded, and she gave him a slightly wide-eyed stare. "I just...it feels liek the right thing to do," she admitted. It was silly and she knew it, but she liked the Negaverse. It made her feel safer, like she'd really have somewhere to go and something to do. Like she wouldn't be some lost kid, she'd be Corrupted Sailor Xenia, and she'd be able to make a difference.
She nodded along with his explanation. "I...think I can understand that," she admitted, chewing on the inside of her cheek. That was the downside. She couldn't be Hayley anymore. Her family would have another missing kid. "But I have somebody helping me, too, and I....I like her a lot. I want to be with her."
The little tug on her hair made her blink, which was good, because it drew her out of being pensive. "I know, yeah," she acknowledged, "and I...feel bad about that. I'll miss my family. But I have to do this. For me." She gave him her best smile. "So I'll come find you again, after all this, once I'm Chaos, and you're gonna keep that promise. We're still gonna be friends."

Whisler smiled softly. “I look forward to seeing your transformation then, Xenia. You’ll be a wonderful asset to the Negaverse, I’m sure of it. They’ll be lucky to have you.” He leaned back, seeming thoughtful, and then, opening his mouth to say something else, paused, frowning slightly as a cracking sound started. First soft, then louder and louder as the seconds ticked by.
By the time the knight realized what was going on, it was far too late, and down the two fell, down into darkness…down into the unknown.
