A Scottish muggle-origin family, the Farquarsons valued their dedication to what they're doing and were always searching for knowledge. ▶ WELL-READ — Edgar is a very knowledgeable child, taking after his parents. Usually occupying his time in books and observation, he doesn't find it hard to gather knowledge and learns very quickly. His most preferred knowledge, however, lies in diverse literature, mysteries, puzzles, and world-building; explaining Edgar's love of history and detective stories. Edgar actually has a good streak in academics and excels in maths, it just happens that he has a passion for history. As much as this was a blessing, this made Edgar hard to keep up with the children not in his level; thus being dubbed as someone who was a bit uptight and way mature for his age.
▶ DETAIL-ORIENTED — People call him out for being a perfectionist, but Edgar insists that he finds value in detail, pattern, and order. While never obsessed in detail, he likes to observe and scrutinize the things handed before him. With this, he is "blessed" with an observant eye, not the type to forget things and usually very adept in awareness. This leads him into questioning so many things, restless, and a bit picky as a result.
▶ ACTIVE — Contrary to popular belief, Edgar doesn't actually stand being stuck in the library for too long- claiming that there's a difference between being a bookworm and being bookish. This may also add to the fact that his father taught him that there's more in knowledge than just memorizing formulas, adding that being sociable always help. As a result, Edgar loves to partake in activities because it means that he'll have fun and knowledge along the way. On the other hand, this made him bite more than he could chew... and the fact that he wasn't always satisfied with that he does didn't help.
▶ QUIET — Edgar has a lot of opinion for many things, however he prefers keeping things to himself unless being asked. He doesn't like arguing with people unless being provoked to, as he usually finds it very tiring and is aware that sometimes there are people who won't listen to what he probably has to say. This keeps him in less arguments and less trouble, while also feeling resentful when it has something to do with him.
▶ UNSATISFIED — Edgar, while pragmatic and already proven to be a smart person, struggles in seeing if he really is what he and the people thought he is. He wants to prove and prove usually for people, but even so he puts high standards to himself that if left him disappointed. He is rarely satisfied with what he achieved and wanted to strive more and more, making him restless at best and self-destructive at worst.
▶ AFFECTIONATE — Edgar, once you established a bond with him, can be a very affectionate and loving person. He likes to give gifts and isn't afraid to show how he cared a lot to his friends. This makes him a very good friend to talk with, but to other people it makes him look either annoying or clingy. People can also take advantage of him due to him exposing his affectionate nature, but fortunately he is quick-witted enough to notice it.

➥ Background History
▶ CHILDHOOD — Edgar was born to two loving parents: Campbell and Emily Farquarson. Campbell was a former Ravenclaw and a successful Ministry worker; meanwhile Emily was a muggle and a detective. Campbell and Emily met with a mutual acquaintance in a wedding party, as the latter happened to have a magical sibling in her family and open-minded enough to be entrusted with magical knowledge after passing the WOMBAT exam. They fall in love and they got married, moved to a home in Scotland and have a baby boy named Edgar- namesake to the famous American writer, Edgar Allan Poe.
However, Edgar's mother died on duty when he was only three. Campbell tried to save a face and continued to work hard to support his family, while also accepting help from his siblings. At age eight, his father remarried to an auror named Anika Kleinman- who he met at work. Edgar didn't like the woman at first because it was like she was trying to replace his late mum, but since his dad asked to be nice to her in the least, Edgar didn't say anything. Also, a week after the wedding, they adopted a baby boy named Oscar, and it took a while before Edgar warmed up to the concept of having a little brother.
As Edgar and Oscar continued to grow together, they eventually get along. And because his parents were busy with their jobs, he and Oscar always spend time with their relatives more than at home, sometimes a nanny if it's necessary. Edgar also struggled not to disappoint his new mother and inadvertently his father, as she seemed to think that since Edgar was just like Campbell, she was planning on putting high expectations from him. The young boy didn't protest about it however, since he already proved himself to be a smart kid- but he didn't know why he had to prove more that he ended up being unsatisfied. So the moment he got his letter in Hogwarts, Edgar wondered if he should work hard for himself or work hard to be live up to both his and his parents' expectations.
▶ SCHOOL LIFE — Edgar was sorted to Ravenclaw, and that alone made him very happy. It meant that maybe he wasn't a fool like he thought he was. He made several friends and even joined the Drama Club as well as the Quidditch team, filling as the seeker (reserved). But other than that, Edgar still left some time for himself as he still kept on studying and studying so that he won't make a fool of himself. But overall, his dad seemed to be happy that they shared a house- though his stepmother didn't seem to say anything other than a simple congrats. That left Edgar torn as a result, should he take his father's compliment and be at ease, or continue to impress his stepmother?

▶ PRIVATE — Samuli is an introvert and finds socializing exhausting that he would prefer it if people leave him on his own devices. While he doesn't push people away out of being thoughtful, don't expect him to be the one engaging the conversation. Instead, he lets people decide if they want to talk to him or not unless it was absolutely necessary. Samuli is also hard to read and has no desire nor interest to talk about himself,
▶ DOMINEERING — His mother led a good example that if people think you're hard to approach, you might as well use it as a weapon against others who deserve it. People his age think of him as someone who is intimidating, and the reason Samuli doesn't do anything about it is because he takes advantage of it. Yes, he can smile, but he always makes sure that people know that he is not someone to get on his bad side because he's one to be secretly vindictive in hopes of giving the offender a handmade karma. Of course, it does give him a hard time making friends especially when they're shallow enough to judge a book by its cover.
▶ INTELLIGENT — Samuli isn't the all-bookworm kind of guy, but he sure did know how to use his brain. It seemed to be a shared trait among the Farquarson family, as Samuli finds it easy to pick up the pace quickly. But more specifically, he's image-minded and likes to picture his plans and ideas as if he is presenting a powerpoint. With this kind of intelligence, Samuli can figure out how to get away from sticky situations as he's really quick to pick a mood.
▶ DRIVEN — He's always driven and always wanting to take goals, be that small or big. He is ambitious in a way that while he still dreams big, he was thought that success can be achieved by starting small and things will get bigger as time goes by. Samuli wants to feel a sense of achievement and if given the chance he might as well use some wits to get what he wants. He is also competitive and Samuli genuinely respecting the competitor's skills won't stop him from wanting to compete as Samuli has learned that even the best-of-the-best aren't invincible. And even if he loses, it just motivates him more instead of beating himself up.
▶ THOUGHTFUL — As much as he hasn't done anything to not look intimidating, Samuli cares for his close ones as much as he cares for himself, doing his best to consider their shoes. He doesn't show it that much but Sam knows better than shoving people away from him. He tries to consider that hey, maybe people aren't as one-dimensional as people made it out to be. Samuli isn't one to be intentionally harsh on someone who is in distress even if he's not that great in comforting people. But hey, it's the thought that counts. Unfortunately, people weren't quick to be able to see this side of him... and he sometimes resented this kind of treatment.
▶ OPTIMISTIC — Due to his quiet and domineering impression, people are quick to assume that Samuli is misanthropic and therefore, cynical. However this is never the case: Samuli actually holds on his glass half-full view as much as he can. It is hard to break him from this view and believes in the whole "I do not fail, just found 10,000 ways that won't work" and reasons that ambition is always achieved by believing oneself. However, It does make him stubborn and has a hard time letting long-term problems go due to his self-assurance.

▶ CHILDHOOD — Samuli is born the only child to a muggle couple: zoologist Randall Farquarson, and Ilona Laaksonen, a film director and screenwriter. His parents met when Ilona took a travel trip to Scotland to look for inspiration, ending up in a zoo where Randall worked as an intern. His parents were, as Samuli puts it, "dramatically lovey-dovey". Having parents with these kind of jobs, Samuli was very used to not being at home in the summer because he was always with one of his parents in their jobs. He was either with his dad in a wildlife park, or with his mum as he watched her oversee the movie set. But even with that, Samuli was still showered with lots of attention- maybe he was just as important as their dream jobs that they were willing to share what they love to him.
His magic kicked in when he was nearing eleven, Samuli's first accidental magic was when he changed his dad's hair color by accident. Thankfully, his father was quick to respond to it since he has two brothers being wizards. His mother, on the other hand, was just. Very. Confused. Computer Generated Imagery was one thing, but seeing her son suddenly blinking from his bedroom to the kitchen in a couple of seconds in her own eyes was another. But she got over it and can be trusted with the information, though she was warned that she was most likely under heavy scrutiny due to her job being susceptible to possibly revealing the supposedly secret lives of the magical world.
Apparently, Samuli was told that his uncle Campbell worked for the "magical government" and his oldest cousin Edgar studied in a "wizarding boarding school". And apparently, his uncle Robin not only runs a bookstore, he's apparently running another bookstore business for wizards, too. Samuli found it crazy and confusing, but if his mother was able to (hesitantly) trust them... Maybe Samuli can try, right?
