He settled down onto Courtland's sofa after snagging a cracker with a bit of cheese spread. It was a relief to know that his friend had finally decided to start listening to him when it came to making sure he at least had the basics when it came to provisions that went well with wine. Wine nights were usually impromptu enough these days that having a cheese ball of one variety or another and some crackers was never a bad idea. "Next time we're going to actually plan one of these out, schedule and all, so I've got some time to make sangria." He glanced up to the other man before popping the cracker past his lips.

"You say that like we every really plan these things ahead of time." He grinned, stretching out on the chaise at the end of the sofa. "Not that I'm disagreeing with your sangria but maybe you should just make some and then tell me its wine night." Unless he was traveling it was usually pretty easy to catch him in the evening. Mist events were on weekends and Halston was usually working then so it wasn't as if wine nights happened then either.

"So maybe we should start planning them-- you know, instead of waiting for something to go to s**t before deciding we need one." He snorted, tilting his head back against the couch cushion for a moment before shifting to reach for his glass of wine. It didn't help that, in general, neither of their schedules really coincided well with things that weren't worked into them. Courtland generally had his days planned down to the 'T' and his? Well, his days were generally up in the air and often subject to change if it meant getting paid for a last minute gig that someone else had dropped out of. "Have you ever thought of just... Leaving this town and not coming back?"

It wasn't a bad idea to plan then but, somehow, that felt like they wouldn't be the same. "Planned wine nights aren't really wine night. Then it's something else, just don't ask me what." He pointed his glass at Halston before taking a sip, watching his friend. "Hm ... I've thought about moving out to LA. But it would be awful. All the heat and the smog?" He scoffed slightly, shaking his head. "Easier to just fly out there when I need to." . While he'd been in Europe it had been tempting to not come back though. How would the nut jobs who'd kidnapped him be able to make him to do whatever they wanted him to do if he was all the way over there?

"If you plan a wine night then it's wine and cheese with friends and it really should be more than just the two of us." He snorted softly, taking a deeper sip of his wine this time before letting the glass rest against his thigh. "The heat is what has you worried? I'd think that it would be the fires and the traffic that would get to you the most. Besides, what would your home away from home here in the city do without you if you actually did leave and not come back?"

"Then it's a wine party, not wine night." He smirked. "And Shea's too young to drink and I love him but I'm not going to jail because he gets sloshed and puts it on instagram." They could try to lock Shea's phone up but somehow Court figured that wouldn't work. "Any why in the world do you want to have a party?" Courtland was pretty sure Halston hated big parties like that. He'd heard enough horror stories about the ones his family threw."Unless you made new friends? and didn't tell me?" The question about his home, and 'family', here got a shake of his head. "You know I couldn't really ever leave even if I liked the idea. My home is here, I started here, i'm staying. But what about you?" Halston had asked, which meant he was thinking about the idea.

"They did open up that new, posh wine bar downtown. I haven't been by yet, but I've heard some pretty wonderful things about their pomegranate sangria." It was high up on his list of 'things to try' at some point when he had an evening to take to himself. It probably wouldn't be all that bad to try and schmooze or mingle with people outside of his usual circle anyways. "Think about changing my name and running away from all of this crazy s**t? All the ******** time." He laughed, shaking his head slowly. "I've got enough set aside in various funds that have been set up in my name that I could probably do it, if I had to.... But that would then raise the question of what exactly would happen if everything you were running from found you."

"That's why you're not supposed to run from things. Just murder it quietly in it's sleep." He smirked before sitting up to get a cracker and some of the cheese. "Besides, if you went running away who would protect me from disgusting assholes?" Courtland was teasing, knowing they didn't get to spend that much time together, but it was nice having Hals around when they did go out. Courtland did think he'd heard of the wine bar but hadn't bothered with it himself yet. Sounded like somewhere he'd have to go when he planned to spend the entire night with people wanting to take selfies with him. Not the relaxing kind of night most people would have there.

"The police tend to heavily investigate the next of kin if an entire family turns up murdered in their sleep. I don't know about you, but I'd rather avoid a police investigation." He brought his glass up once more, taking another sip while pondering getting up for a refill when he hadn't even emptied it yet. "Courtland McQueen, you say that like you aren't perfectly capable of protecting yourself. Sometimes I think you enjoy giving them your own special kind of hell." He smirked, casting a lazy glance in his friend's direction.

"See I think you could work with that. Just have to make it look like one of your brother's myriad of pissed off ex's did it. Or that one girl he has that on again off again thing with." Ht finished off his glass before getting up to get the bottle from the kitchen counter. "She's psychotic. Would be easy to do." Courtland refilled his glass, bringing the bottle over with him and setting it on the coffee table before sitting back down. "But I like it when my big strong hero saves me." Courtland fluttered his eyeslashes, smirk on his lips giving away his teasing.

That drew a snort from him as he shook his head before finishing off his first glass of wine. He reached forward to snag the bottle from the coffee table to refill his own as Court settled back down onto the lounge end of the couch. "You and I both know that I'm no hero. I'm far too invested in myself to go about putting my a** on the line to rescue anyone else." That wasn't entirely true. Mostly true? Certainly. When it came to most people, Halston O'Hea couldn't give two shits less. There were some people that were his people, however, and if it was anyone's job to make them miserable it was his and his alone... Which meant that he had to step in to do something about it by default.

"Oh please." Courtland rolled his eyes. "I know full well Mr. I-Don't-Care-About-Anyone wouldn't ever actually let someone harass either myself or Shea. That's your job." He shifted enough he could nudge Halston's thigh gently with his foot. Halston had always been a bit stand-offish and tended to act like he didn't care but Courtland had seen him when he did. You didn't get in between a man like that and those he cared about. It did make Courtland wonder what Halston would think of what happened to him. There wasn't anything Hals could do about it now. But if he knew two weirdos had kidnapped and practically tortured him? If he knew what they'd turned him into?

"Someone has to look out for the two of you in this stupid place." He huffed before finishing off his second glass of wine in one go, giving it a minute before filling his glass for the third time. He set the glass down on the table next to the bottle that was now closer to empty than it was to being still full. "Are we sticking with cheese and crackers for wine night or do you still have any of the good delivery places on speed dial. I'm not sure crackers are substantial enough to head off whatever hangover I might be on my way towards."

"Ive got the Tai place and one of the one mediatariam that does tapas delivery still." Those were the only ones he still ordeted from regularly. Everywhere else had either made him mad or stooped delivering. Real food did sound like a good idea. They were well on their way to finishimg off at least two bottles of wine before the end of the night. "Either sound better to you?"

"Tapas might go better with the wine and everything else than Thai food. I've got cash in my wallet to cover it, if you want to place the order." He was sorely tempted to ask if they had any extra bottles of anything that could be added on to a delivery order as well. It probably wouldn't be the best idea, all in all. Slowing it down to spread out the bitching and complaining along with the drinking and the dining would be much better. "Do they still have that one thing we got for dessert the last time?"
