Name: Ticene
Age: 18
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Craft: None
Rank: Candidate
Location: High Reaches Weyr

Physical Description: Standing at 5’4 Ticene is probably as tall as she is ever going to be, if she's lucky she might gain another inch, maybe even two. Overall she doesn't mind it though, the only advantages with height are not being looked down at and being able to reach things. The second can be solved with a little climbing. Around her mid teens Ticene's body settled into her adult build, which her mother affectionately informed her was 'childbearing'. For the most part Ticene is happy with her body. Stronger than a lot of girls, and nobody could ever call her boyish looking. The teenager has a faintly pear-shaped body, her hips wider than her shoulders. From time to time, when everyone gets dressed up and Ticene sees the other girls her age. The width of her hips and size of her bust means she will never be called skinny. Slim, perhaps if she really works for it, but never skinny. There is muscle to her frame, but not enough to really be noteworthy. Most of her strength lies in her legs as Ticene has done a lot more running about than she has lifting. This female shape is wrapped up in slightly tanned skin.

Ticene keeps her hair fairly short. Depending on the humidity her hair can be soft waves or frizzed curls, she prefers the former. Usually it is somewhere between ear and chin length. A warm russet, her hair is a mix of browns and reddish tones. Rather than just one shade Ticene’s hair has naturally highlighted causing a rather multi-tonal look. Ticene tries her best to tame it if she is expected to clean up, but on days when there is no pressure for her to impress she allows her hair to make up it's own mind on how neat or dishevelled she'll look. Her features are rather delicate. An oval face, with a small rounded nose, and almond shaped eyes. Generally her eyes are considered a pretty feature; forest green, flecks of brown in amongst the green and a darker shade running the perimeter of her iris, drawing a green outline on her eye. A spattering of freckles cover the tops of her cheeks and bridge of her nose. Ticene's smile can only be described as kind of dorky. The teen has a habit of scrunching up her nose as she grins and biting down on her tongue as she does.

Personality: Ticene is a bright young woman. Not in that she is especially intelligent, more that she is a streak of colour. Usually smiling, often moving quickly, regularly with a joke or story to tell. The teenager is confident in herself, comfortable to talk to near anyone. This comfort can get her into trouble though when she's honest with the wrong person. It's not that she means to be disrespectful, it's just that sometimes it's hard to remember that diplomacy is a thing. Lying doesn't come easily to Tic, she doesn't like doing it, and isn't very good at it either. Usually if asked a question the reply will be the absolute truth, with no sugar coating. The only time that Ticene can rein this trait in, is when dealing with upset people. She can afford a little bit of sugar when someone is crying in front of her.

Somewhat like a mother wherry, Ticene likes to take people under her wing. Even if they don't really need it, but especially if she feels they do. She likes to have a brood to look after. Make sure everyone is eating, it happy. She'll protect her little group to the hilt, both with word and fist if necessary. Without a group, the teen can become very lonely. Coming from such a large family, Ticene isn't used to being alone. The quiet can be deafening and she is uncomfortable without people close by.

Endlessly supportive Ticene believes that her brood can accomplish anything they set their minds to. Even when this really isn't true. Ticene is too optimistic. With enough hard work you can overcome it! It doesn't matter that you couldn't carry a tune in a bucket, we'll make a harper of you yet, it just needs more practice! At times Ticene can be a little controlling. Mainly when it comes to people being in certain places at certain times. Another controlling aspect is that she can become very irritated when she feels she is being shut out by those she has deemed as her brood. What is it? Why wouldn't you want to tell her? In these circumstances her temper flares and Ticene can become quite difficult to deal with. Throwing her hands up in the air and declaring that obviously you don't need her anymore and going off in a flounce. Her temper usually fizzles out rather quickly, but she's often too stubborn to make the first move to apologise.

A large flaw in Ticene's personality is a lack of direction. Her whole life she has just fallen into roles. So much of her childhood was spent day-dreaming about what she could be, making up adventures, that she never actually decided what she would be. Now a young woman, Ticene is rather aimless, looking for someone to point her in a direction. This leaves her open to be very easily moulded. All she needs is a push in the right direction. Ticene isn't naive, she knows what she thinks is right and wrong, and isn't stupid enough to be obviously manipulated. Still, her mind is very impressionable, and it wouldn't take much for someone to give her the identity that she craves.

Positive Trait List Confident, Supportive, Optimistic, Honest, Protective, Day-dreamer, Sociable, Excitable
Negative Trait List Controlling, Directionless, Impressionable, Blunt, Short-tempered

History: 3556.04.19, Ticene was born. Her parents were very happy with their newest addition. Following their two older children, Ticene was the first girl the couple had, but she would be far from the last. After Ticene came three girls and another son. It was a very full house. Both of Ticene's parents worked at the docks of Tillek Hold. Her mother was a fishmonger, and her father was a shipwright. Neither were especially high ranking in their jobs, but they made enough for the large brood to get by in relative comfort. That did require a lot of hand-me-downs and clothes patching.

With two working parents, Ticene was left in charge from a young age. Well, that's how she remembers it at least. Actually it was her older brothers who were in charge, but Ticene liked to think it was her. She was so insistent and she kept the younger ones happy, so for the most part her brothers let her believe it. Most of her life Ticene spent herding her younger siblings around like ducklings. She took them on adventures. Led them in games. All the while her older brothers followed along behind to make sure nobody got hurt in their antics.

Tic's problems started when her siblings started getting older and she entered her teens. Suddenly they didn't need her to look after them anymore. Her brothers had grown up and were starting careers or families. Even some of her younger siblings were showing interest in jobs. For the first time, Ticene began to feel lost. She clung to the youngest of her siblings, stubbornly refusing to grow up. She was firmly pried away by her mother who insisted that she get some kind of job, now that they younger ones could be trusted on their own. What would she do? It wasn't like she'd ever shown any real enthusiasm or skill in anything. Briefly the teen considered harping, she could spin a good story, and she was certainly theatrical. Unfortunately she wasn't a gifted musician. She could hold a tune, but neither her singing nor her playing were really of harper quality and she was a bit too old to be starting that now. Miserable, she resigned herself to working with her mother. Selling fish wasn't too bad. She was used to the smell, and she got to talk to customers sometimes. It's just so boooooring.

That's when a dragonrider arrives, and hey, she didn't have any plans before. Why not go and stand for a dragon? Be a hero of Pern and all that. How's that for an adventure?

Origin of Name: Metla is the translation of broom in Bosnian, Croatian, Russian, Serbian, and Slavic. The word "broom" derives from the name of certain thorny shrubs used for sweeping. The name of the shrubs began to be used for the household implement in Late Middle English and gradually replaced the earlier besom during the Early Modern English period.

In the context of witchcraft, broomstick is likely to refer to the broom as a whole, known as a besom. The first known reference to witches flying on broomsticks dates to 1453, confessed by the male witch Guillaume Edelin The concept of a flying ointment used by witches appears at about the same time, recorded in 1456.

Inspiration: Firebolt

The Firebolt is a world-class broomstick. It was the fastest at the time of its production, and was released in 1993. In time, the Firebolt broomstick was used by the Bulgarian and Irish International Quidditch Teams. The teams played on Firebolts during the 1994 Quidditch World Cup.

Harry Potter first saw a prototype Firebolt broom in the window of Quality Quidditch Supplies in the summer before his third year. He wanted one, but he already had a Nimbus 2000 and had to remind himself of that to keep himself from going in and asking what the price was. It was said that he would have to empty his vault in Gringotts, should he actually purchase the Firebolt.
Later, he received a Firebolt as an anonymous present from his godfather, Sirius Black, at Christmas 1993, after his Nimbus 2000 was destroyed.

The Firebolt is capable of going from nought to one hundred and fifty miles per hour in ten seconds. This broomstick also boasts an unbreakable Braking Charm, superb balance and precision, and hovers at reasonable mounting height when let go. By 1994, the Firebolt was the fastest broomstick in the whole world.

Personality: Metlath is going places, and you had better not stand in her way! This green dragon is bursting from the seems with energy and can be a bit difficult to handle or keep still for any length of time. She is the sort of dragon who loves to have fun, and can make a game out of the most odious of situations. If she finds herself in a drab situation, she will happily crack a joke to ease tension, or tell her rider and wingmates stories just to spice things up. Lying or exaggerating isn't harmful when it brings in nothing but cheer, right?

This makes Metlath one charming green! She knows how to hold interest once she is given a few moments time, and has no trouble captivating whatever audience she's given. From stories of her adventures, to outright tall tales, Metlath's goal is to ensure Pern knows just how awesome a green she is! She's sociable, and won't likely struggle to make and keep friends.

Metlath has a lot of energy, and her rider will find it difficult to keep her in line. She is the sort of dragon who always wants to be doing something, going somewhere, and testing the limits of her flight! On the one hand, the Weyrlingmaster will find that Metlath is rather daring. There is no challenge too great for her; she doesn't seem to know the definition of doubt, and truly believes she can get herself out of any sticky situation! Threadfall? Ha! She laughs in the face of danger! Is that task too dangerous? Then let Metlath lead the way! The greater the challenge, the more interesting this clever green will find it!

Unfortunately, this green sometimes has too much energy. She's a hyper dragon, and at her worst, can talk and run around seemingly non-stop. Tired, who's tired? Certainly not Metlath! In fact, this green will talk to her rider, run around the Weyrbowl, flap her wings a hundred times, and then still want to go swimming, get into a tussle, and roll around in the dirt without seemingly breaking a sweat. She will likely need to find outlets for her energy, otherwise she might well become disruptive with her behavior.

To make matters worse, Metlath is not at all a patient green. When she wants something, she wants it immediately. If she has picked up some trick, she might well get impatient when her fellow weyrling do not. She is not a particularly good teacher, and her lack of patience can get her into trouble; she might not listen to directions fully and miss an important rule or note; she might get snappy and surly when she has to repeat herself or go over something she feels is basic.

Worse, Metlath is a rebllious dragon, and doesn't understand the definition of no. If her rider doesn't keep her firmly in line, she will not hesitate to do what she wants because she can. Metlath hates being told what to do. She doesn't like to be caged, and certainly doesn't like living a life with limitations. She will push and bend and break rules just because someone said not to do something. When rebellion comes, you can bet Metlath will be the sort of green who is more than happy to lead the way.

Positive Traits: Daring, Captivating, Fun-Loving
Negative Traits: Hyperactive, Rebellious, Impatient

Adult Size: 20'
Physical Attributes: Metlath is a small, delicate green--but she can pack quite a punch! She is svelte and sleek and has especially long wings. While she is quick on her feet and agile on land, it is in the air that this dragon truly shines. She was born to fly, and loves to do so. Greens are traditionally used for their speed and agility, and Metlath exceeds in both. She flies fast and hard, and doesn't put on the breaks unless she absolutely must!

Additional Notes: Rival to Nimbus 2000.

Metlath is not a traditional green. She doesn't care for the restrictions High Reaches Weyr places on her or her color, and will try to break as many rules as she can. Her rider will need to keep her line lest face the real consequences.

When it comes to flights, Metlath will fly fast and often. Speed is the name of the game, and she will enjoy her time to shine. She may have a preference for her fellow greens, but blues might be nice, now and then, too. Browns and bronzes are just too stupid and too slow for the likes of her!

Theme Song: Like a Shooting Star by d.j. hixxly
Egg: A large white and black striped egg leaning against two others. This egg is ready to go, go, go! If watched closely, it seems to sway slightly.

Why Me? Ticene and Metlath make a good mix for one another. Ticene's controlling and motherly nature will help keep this energetic (and at times troublesome) green in line. As much as she hates rules and being restricted, she also needs a firm hand to keep her out of real trouble. Not every rule is there simply for the sake of being restrictive; some rules are there for safety measures or good reason. Metlath's rebellious nature needs someone strong willed to help her temper such a thing; or at least, to guide the green on time and place and when to bend a rule, and when to break them.

As for Ticene, this green will bring some fun into her life. Ticene might never need be alone again, and will not just have a green who supports her, but one who adores her, too. She will always have someone to care for, and be cared for and protected in return. Furthermore, Metlath will happily give the woman some direction. Not only will Impression mean that Ticene can devote herself to the fight against Threadfall, but if that doesn't suit her, you can be Metlath has the energy and belief that they can achieve anything. She will carry Ticene to the moons and back if need be, and with Metlath's rebellious nature, she won't think twice about labels. If Ticene wishes to become Weyrleader or Weyrwoman, this green will tear down every rule on Pern to make it so...at least she'll try.

She's approved.

I think the only thing I'd question si whether or not Threadfall's return had any affect on your character or her family. I couldn't see where she was located,
and don't know how long she's been at the Weyr. Threadfall happened a bout a Turn and a half ago, and even under High Reaches, who was prepared, there were still casualties just due to the surprise Fall.
