Name: Nataska Govanik
Stage: Prentice
Race: Lightning/Geian
Gender: Female
3 Base Traits: Dauntless, Direct, Dogged
Personality: Nataska entertains no fear of failure. While she is aware of it as an unavoidable fact of life, as her mother Sashya would say: ‘Failure is one stop on the track. It’s not a destination unless you get off there and stop seeking.’ She was raised by two mothers who knew little fear of anything and acted upon instinct; she follows this pattern. Her biological mother, Sashya, has genetically gifted her a wildly free spirit which tends towards hopping towards wherever her instinct carries her.

Both of her mothers, Sashya and Izaveta, have instilled in her a directness with her approach to life. Time is wasted if you do not get to the point, and Nataska does not have all the time in the world to ‘get to the point.’ Just get there. If something is true, it might as well be said. Sometimes Sashya and Izaveta have cautioned her to not be too direct, but this is something Nat struggles with. Perhaps Sashya could adjust her story to be told ‘in the right way’ and Izaveta would always want to present her clients in the best light, but Nataska means business, and while she does love uncovering the story behind things, she has little patience for the twisting dramatics of it all. She wants to know what happened, when, with who, who said what and what they wanted, without all the bells and whistles involved in not offending other's feelings. There is a simpleness to science and mechanics that she appreciates and wants to apply to life, though neither of her mothers seem to fully adopt that approach.

Finally, Nat never gives up. This can be classified as commendable persistence or detestable stubbornness, but regardless, Nataska is there, holding her ground with her heels dug in. She is formidably stubborn in her determination and once she has set herself on a path, it is a trial for anyone to set her off of it.

Description: Darkest brown skin (Geian), purple eyes ███(lightning) but with normal pupils (Geian), spiked crystals (lightning), peppermint green hair (Geian) curly (lightning), pointed ears (lightning).
Clothing: CC but think "steampunk tomboy mechanic"
Accessories: CC

History: Vitnvik Govanik wanted sons. As one of the most successful business enterprisers of the Sector of Transportation, he had high plans: five boys, to be trained and sculpted by his careful personal tutoring into experienced leaders capable of running each of his five transport routes, working with those he had built his business around and expanding the family wealth with the help of a dedicated wife. He set about the path towards his goals young, wedded a respectable lightning lass, and was thrilled to hear they were expecting their first child within a year.

Katya gave birth to Izaveta, Lisika, Mataya, and Roksana. They were each beautiful daughters, and while he was not a cold hearted enough man to not love them, there remained an unsatisfied itch in him for a son. His relationship with his wife, once bright and new, grew strained over the years as he became dissatisfied with her age and temperament. Then, over the course of a fateful business trip, he was interviewed by a certain young, bright eyed journalist. Miss Sashya Dovos was fifteen years younger than his wife, seventeen years younger than himself, and barely older than his first daughter.

If asked, Vitnvik would have insisted the breakdown of his marriage was due entirely to his wife’s temperament. It wasn’t that age had given her natural wrinkles as it had given him, but that it had made her sour and unpleasant. It wasn’t that he was inattentive and unreceptive, but that she didn’t appreciate his needs. It didn’t matter that she had been faithful all the years of their life together, what they had was ‘stale’ and he had ‘no choice’ but to seek fulfillment and happiness elsewhere. Still he attempted to cover the evidence of his affair, and was initially successful, keeping the matter quiet for almost three years, until his young lover grew impatient with his insistence that he couldn’t leave his wife yet.

Not yet, the time isn’t right yet,’ he would say, and the promise became an ear worm in the mind of Sashya who had plans for herself which swept well beyond the interests of one proud, wealthy businessman. She introduced herself to one of his daughters.

Izaveta, who had always been her mother’s daughter and developed increasing bitterness and frustration towards her father as her parents’ relationship became strained, had distanced herself from the transportation business her father erected and instead pursued theatre as her mother had, eventually working as a specialized agent for performers, making connections and handling the business aspects of fostering rising talent. Through Izaveta, with whom Sashya worked closely on several stories to help bolster one of Iza’s clients, Sashya gradually befriended each of Vitnvik’s daughters in turn, and finally, much to the man’s confusion and low-key chagrin, his wife.

But, while Sashya was actively friendly with his wife and daughters, it left opportunity for her to be around more frequently, and behind closed doors, she assured him as soon as he left his wife, they would make a life together. To Izaveta, she made entirely different promises, and learned much about the man she had been taken with. Between the two of them, they devised a plan. Sashya knew inside information about the prominent businessman, the facts and figures of which he no longer at that point trusted to his family, and Izaveta had her own connections, but knew very well that at that point, had she and Sashya come forward directly about having developed their own romantic affections, she would lose her inheritance and Sashya might suffer great loss to reputation.

Instead, they agreed to pull one final revenging stunt on Vitnvik, and gain a child of their own out of it in the process. A rumor was started. Vitnvik is having an affair. Not with Sashya, mind, but with another woman entirely. Turmoil stirred openly in his marriage and privately, though of course being among those who had started the rumor to begin with, Sashya confronted him about this ‘other’ figure in his life. He assured her that such word was false, but she took to tearfully ‘confessing’ to him that she was pregnant with his child, that he must leave his wife or give her some surety that her interests would be covered, or she would make public more than he wished to be.

Being genuine at least in his interest in her if nothing else, and unawares at the time of her shifting motives, Vitnvik made private arrangements, had certain funds transferred and a secret account made in Sashya’s name to quell her fears and ‘for the sake of the child, until the time is right.’ Satisfied that things had gone as she hoped, Sashya ceased the preventative medications she had been taking and allowed herself to actually become pregnant. When she began to show, all of the pieces came falling into place. Katya was initiating their divorce. Sashya, ‘distraught’ in the public eye, had multiple loyal witnesses to attest to Vitnvik’s interest in her as she assured the authorities with convincing sorrow that she had been pressured to consent to relations with him resulting in her pregnancy and while she generously did not want any criminal charges against him, she did seek lifetime support for herself and her child.

Vitnvik would spend the rest of his life with half of his wealth in his wife’s hands, and a portion of the remainder trickling to Sashya, on top of those she had already secured for herself, all the while watching as his former lover abandoned his interests and settled calmly with his eldest daughter in Hafelle. Though the first years were unavoidably tumultuous, Sashya and Izaveta eventually made for themselves quite a lifestyle, each continuing their own professions while raising their infant daughter, Nataska.

Nataska Govanik grew knowing only the world of her two supportive mothers, an established journalist in the Sector of Community, and an agent for theatrical and artistic talent in the Sector of Leisure. She was a hybrid of the races, but this was not unusual enough for it to be any particular concern, and she was raised from her earliest memory to know that she could pursue either or any path that she chose. As it happened, Nat was coming of age as the first voyages off-continent were coming underway. Her initial aspirations were to join the academy through some innovation in mechanics, for (despite both of her mother’s best wishes) her ‘grandfather’ (biological father) insisted on making himself a continued part of her life and she actually quite took to him, enjoying what she could learn of the railroad system that he was so familiar with.

Her desire to join the academy, however, was thwarted when she received no invitation, and though neither of her mothers had pressured her for it, she felt personal disappointment and frustration. This, combined with her innate compulsive and adventurous nature and the timing of her life, allowed her to (through the connections she had made in the process of trying to earn an academy invitation in the transportation sector) embark on an early voyage to the mainland of Tendaji.

Nataska wanted a fresh start. Her mothers were each supportive and successful, and she felt a special closeness to Sashya and her journalist habits, but she needed a space of her own and was not afraid to carve it.
