Tambre breathed in a heavy sigh. You'd think with as many children as she had that the thought of another wouldn't cross her mind for ages, but here it was again, that familiar feeling that she couldn't get away from was creeping in yet again.
It wasn't that the thought of another child scared her, it was the thought that people could judge her since she already had a house full (or would if half of them didn't stay at the Academy) and no significant other to love. Maybe that was what she was really missing, but she knew with her long hours and stone-like disposition that wasn't likely to happen in the next year, much less in her lifetime. She knew she was hard to love, but for whatever reason that all seemed to melt away when she was around her children and those that judged her for it could walk out of her life for all she cared!
She frowned. She tried her best to not let what other people thought or said effect her. To everyone around her nothing ever did, she was completely emotionless, but that wasn't true at all. They never saw all the sleepless nights she was up overthinking and being completely critical of herself, they just thought she was the b***h, the front that she kept up to make people believe that she was totally okay. It was a constant war, a war that she kept hidden within herself. Kiessi, her oldest, had caught her from time to time, doing their best to comfort her, and for a moment or two it worked. If it wasn't for those children she didn't know where she'd be right now, they were her everything.
Being that as it was, it was probably then no surprise that they were who she worried about the most. Bringing in another child was always hard, she had to make sure that each of her children were fine with the idea, that it wasn't going to upset them. She thought that Lorek had lied to her once about it, but he had reassured her that he hadn't and thus Bridget and thus consequently Taboo and Trixi were brought into the picture. It took some adjustment, but she knew that Lorek loved his siblings more than anything now, and she was so relieved, so much so that she had also brought Banshee, Aura and now Tarot in the picture. Lorek was still quiet and unsure, but being around his siblings had made him blossom into the young man he was, and nothing else had made Tambre smile more, now she was concerned about Tarot.
Tarot had made it clear that she wanted, mostly, to be left alone. Tambre wasn't sure what she had done wrong in her upbringing, but she wasn't quite sure that Tarot would recover as quickly as Lorek had, and perhaps bringing in more children was the last thing she should do, but she was sure she couldn't let Tarot rule the house, either. Tarot worried her, but she had also made it obvious that there was little that Tambre could do to change that. Perhaps Tarot was scared more by the fact that her biological family hadn't kept her, way more than either Kiessi or Lorek had been, or maybe bringing her into such a large and chaotic family had done it, Tambre couldn't be sure. These thoughts had stopped her for this long from bringing in another child, but she couldn't wait anymore. She loved Tarot, regardless of her disposition, however, this was also her life and she had to make sure she was happy too.
So she pulled together her purse and headed out the door toward the clinic.
