Rhys was lounging with his book, happily just killing time now that he'd gotten settled at the outpost. It was just another lengthy duty assignment where not a whole lot happened, and that was fine with him. Out here if nothing happened it was a happy occasion, not like pod duty. When something, anything, happened during pod duty it was cause for celebration. Or at the very least a high five.
He was already about halfway through the first book, but at the end of the chapter he'd just been reading he slipped in the bookmark Seren gave him and put the book down, getting up for a much-needed stretch. He was also expecting someone else to show up, but being the type to not always read through an entire assignment notice he had no idea who it was supposed to be. It didn't make a whole lot of different to him, really.
Too many faces on the island to remember them all.

Go to the Jungle outpost Kim, go help the mist hunter there Kim. Get the hell out of the way before you get someone in trouble Kim. She rolled her eyes. Oh well, she was on her way fast enough and soon walked through the portal and got to the outpost. Who else was there? She hadn't read the notes either just headed off to help the other hunter. They said they needed a Sun hunter just in case there was trouble. She walked into camp and looked around, noticing that there was indeed someone else here. "Hey, so who else got stuck watching monkeys with me?" She smirked a bit and danced forward, colourful hair bouncing. She looked at her phone again and paused since it didn't say Rhys she wouldn't recognize it, it said instead his official name not the nicname Seren used. "Hellloooo?"

He was in the middle of yawning when someone came up and joined him, so he turned just as he finished out the yawn and shrugged. "Me, I guess?" he said, blinking. She was vaguely familiar but he couldn't quite place where he'd seen her before. Or if it was actually her that he saw. Not that it stopped him from pointing.
"Katrina?" he asked, brow raised in question. He obviously had no idea who she was.

Kim blinked and looked back over her shoulder a moment before laughing. "No Kimberly, Kimberly Whitmore." She looked at the ladder leading to the tree house and climbed up. "Sorry I wasn't here sooner but apparently the person who was supposed to come decided to go and get attacked by something. Lucky bugger." She rolled her eyes a little. "I mean being able to do something and not sit around waiting to be eaten by bugs." She held out her hand when she was seated up in the actual outpost posting area. "Um, sorry didn't catch your name." She looked at the conditions and felt like screaming. This was going to be soo boring. Maybe they could like ditch the post and go hunting or something.

"Kim," he echoed with a little nod. "Got it." There was some doubt in the back of his mind that he would, in fact, forget her name as soon as they finished their shift and went their separate ways, though. He followed her up, though he did pass on her offer of helping him up, and started getting himself settled in one of the chairs.
"Rhys, and no problem. s**t happens, we deal and move on."
On the boredom quip, though, he wasn't seated for more than a minute before he saw something making its way toward them. And he snorted. "Little shits. And I thought it was gonna be a quieter day."Mob A small cluster (3) of what look to be featherless chickens. One seems to be missing its head and is running, almost in a zigzag, ahead of the group. They look perfectly harmless ... they're not. HP: 30 (10 per chicken) AD: 2

The funny thing was that Kim had actually been offering to shake his hand. When he ignored it she shrugged and peered around. Ahh! "Oh look there pre plucked chicken dinner". Her eyes sparkled as she looked down. "One.. Two.. And 3/4. Kim grinned brightly and clapped her hands. "Play time!"
Generally one tended to wait for their partner to join them before running into a mass of anything, but Kim had a streak of, one could call it.. Well, let's be honest now, idiocy may work. The good thing was she jumped to the ground with them still out of attack range so she merely got a better chance to look at them.

He was a lot less enthused about hacking away at FEAR-infused chicken, but he followed after her anyway. This was why they were assigned partners, after all.
Unlike Kim, though, Rhys gladly took the rope ladder back down, slow and steady. Whenever he looked up the three chickens were still quite a distance away so he wasn't in any rush, nor was he looking forward to dealing with getting pecked at, or worse. And he didn't want to really think about what "worse" was supposed to be.
"So," he said once he was finally on the ground. The brunette gave her a quick clap on the shoulder before walking past her just a little bit, summoning Zephira as he went. "I'm guessin' you're taking offense on this one?"

Kim was practically dancing as she looked at the targets. She loved a good fight. When Rhys finally joined her, she grinned and waved one hand. "Offense, of course!" She was bubbling with energy. Her first action was to snap a nice shot of the chickens, a selfie of course. Had to keep a nice album of all the fights she was in. Her bright blue eyes were dancing with excitement as she touched her belt, letting it form into her dear weapon. Kimberly are you trying to get yourself killed again? Haven't you punished yourself enough without you jumping down from high places? And really, running to a fight?Yup, he was already complaining. Chinthliss loved to complain. She gripped the whip, touching the scorpion sting at the end gently. "Lets dance Chinthliss!" Kim ran forward crying out happily. "Come on Rhys, lets show these chickens who is boss!" The whip lashed out, snapping one Chicken, ripping one of it's legs off. The other two seemed furious and ran to peck at her. "Seriously, I try and take out your headless friend and you get mad at me?" Kim glared a little but reacted sanely by leaping back out of the way.

The selfie threw him off, though Rhys was mildly impressed when he saw that her weapon was a whip. At least it gave them some kind of a range advantage; limited range was still range. He followed behind the more enthused hunter between the two of them, clearly not in the greatest mood to fight.
"I'm comin," he muttered, but just as he was about to jump in to join the fight, the headless chicken that lost its leg thanks to Kim came barreling straight for him. He did his best to dodge, but his attack went nowhere and it grazed him in the process. He kinda just wound up swearing in the background.
Very loudly, too.

Kim arched an eyebrow, at some of the words, taking note of them for later use. Still it was kind of hillarious seeing someone bowled over by a headless legless chicken ball... "Strike!" Kim crowed in amusement. She turned back and snapped her whip out again, snagging a second chicken, sending it flying. The third was not amused though, and started trying to scratch her. "Hey, back off, you are next.." The barb of her whip, finally released Chinthliss' prey, sending the poor things flying. Ugh, chicken guts, really Kim?It was all just a game to her, she didn't mind at all, since it wasn't like they were not much of a challenge, more like, weird toys.

At least one of them was having fun. Rhys recovered from the "bowling ball" chicken and spun around, quickly running after and slicing through what was left of the thing. Its body fell in two and he kicked them apart in case there was a chance they could do some FEAR-induced zombie-chicken back to life thing. It was only after he was satisfied with how far apart the pieces were that he turned to head back to Kim and the other two chickens when something else came flying at him.
And spraying chicken guts, no less.
"Piece of s**t!" he screamed this time, more focused on dodging the guts so he got a chest full of freaked out, pissed off chicken attacking him. He angrily tossed it aside before shooting a glare at Kim.
"Will you ********' watch where you're sending those things?!"

"Sorry back there, didn't mean to send it at you, but hey look you took care of the bowling ball!" She made a point of whipping the s**t out of the last chicken so it didn't go anywhere, she was cackling and dancing around it yelling something that sounded very much like. "Call me Princess!!" Finally she settled down and just smiled innocently. "That was fun, what is next?"

The Mist busied himself with hacking at the gutted chicken that he threw nearby, slicing through it and kicking apart all the pieces to get rid of the stress that just piled on after literally getting thrown Kim's leftovers.
When the chicken threat was subdued he hefted Zephira onto shoulder, glancing over at Kim in a much calmer state. "I'm hopin' nothing, honestly," was his reply before he de-summoned his weapon and headed back toward the rope ladder. "Was in the middle of my book, gettin' to a good part. I was thinking this'd be a good place to keep going..."
And then he scowled in the direction the chickens came from, one of those bad feelings sort of creeping up on him. "A guy can hope, I guess."

Kim skipped along after Rhys, humming happily. "Oh yeah, well a good book is a good thing." She stopped a moment, her head tilting a bit. "Wait.. Rhys.. Seren knows you, she was telling me she was visiting you." Kim smiled and started to climb the ladder. "Seren is my friend. Nice to meet a friend of hers." Kim didn't make any assumption, just decided to be friendly, nothing wrong with meeting new people, and maybe she could make another friend. It was hard for her, too many knew her for nothing more than a person to mistrust and stay away from. "Nice fighting down there... I mean against the bowling ball. It seemed rather upset that I wounded it." Kim let her own weapon turn back into a belt, and patted it gently. "Chinthliss really isn't for giving warning when he plans to let things fly off the giant sting on his end, he just kind of tosses it around."

"Oh?" he mused, interest piqued as soon as Seren's name came up. The word "friend" still made him hesitate but he didn't comment, instead just went up the ladder in relative silence, happy to let Kim do most of the talking. When he did finally get settled in his chair again he sort of just shrugged. "Yeah, good to meet new people. And it was a good fight, probably minus the guts. That s**t smells."
He scowled again as he reached for his book, obviously oblivious to anything Kim might have been known for around the island. He'd only been back for around a month so it was normal that he hadn't heard much. And even if he had, he didn't really like to pay attention to other people's business. Bad habit, especially if he didn't want them in his.
"Eh, no worries. Zephira'd probably be spitting blood if she was in a form to do that, but as a sword she's pretty stuck. So I mean, I get it. Just..." and he squinted again at the memory of nearly getting guts all over him.
"Tell 'im to watch it."
