With a -snap!- a lithe blue firelizard popped from between near one of the peaks. It twittered jubilantly to the watch dragon nearby, who eyed it before disregarding it entirely, before tucking its wings to stoop towards the basin far far below. Which weyr was it? Which ledge? How did firelizards know how to find anyone? It was hard to say for sure, but the little blue managed it regardless. This weyr, this ledge! It swooped inside, fluttering to land on a low wooden table, and the stiffness of the landing drew attention to a long supple pouch that was harnessed to the creature's belly. It tugged at the top for a moment, but a small bone button held the colored leather of the scroll tube shut tight. It would just have to wait then. And hopefully it wouldn't be too long, he was hungry!
Within the tube, waiting for its recipient, was a scroll. The paper was fine quality, if not the best, and the seal on the side was from Ruatha. The writing, once unfurled, spoke volumes alone by the apparent haste, and an apparent intensity it had been penned with--more than one word seemed more gouged into the paper then written. The words themselves seemed placid enough though...perhaps it had been written amidst excitement? The text certainly seemed to indicate that...!

Esteemed Bronzerider K'ienn, Wingleader of High Reaches,
The news of your promotion has reached even so far as to our humble hold, and myself and mine wish to offer a hearty congratulations to you on your triumphs both past, present, and future. We know that few are better suited to the defense of Pern than High Reaches' bronze dragons and their chosen men, and we would see more like you rise to join your battle against thread. To that end, it has been decided that a certain piece of information is overdue to be passed on to you. Among our hold's numbers we count a certain young man who has of this week been searched, and offered a position in your own Weyr. His name is Falienn, and he is the child of Falern, born the usual amount of time following the gold flight of Grelanth in 3555AL.
Regardless of if you recall the flight, or Falern herself, the young man is undoubtedly your son. Falern herself was quite inappropriately attached to you, it seems, and though she assured us that she notified you of your son's existence, she has since recanted that statement, admitting to her secrecy. Normally this would be of no matter, but as the boy is bound for High Reaches within the week, we decided it best you be made aware. He has a number of traits we believe will mark him decidedly as your own, though he has lacked somewhat in terms of a firm guiding paternal hand. If nothing else, he has no lack of confidence, and it is our belief that he will thrive under the tutelage and discipline of yourself and your Weyr.
Again we give our thanks for your unending service to all of Pern.
Regards,
[Several names have been signed to the letter, including, of all people, the Lord Holder's]
