Irina had arrived at the school just prior to Orientation Day, the biggest day of the year for First Year students. A whole day spent to touring the expansive campus, meeting other students and teachers of her respective classes, and familiarizing herself with her surroundings. Irina had spent the day designing her room to be exactly how she wanted it; coloured fairy lights strung across the ceiling, maps of all the locations she wanted to visit tapped to the walls, and her elaborate IKEA bookcase next to her bed holding her extensive collection of novels. Happy with how things were looking, she took out her laptop and decided to work on a story she had been working on since High School.
I wonder if I'll make any friends in my class tomorrow, she thought to herself as she typed away.

Ezequiel Da Costa, a Portuguese born-and-raised youth, bounded off the bus with his belongings in tow. His parents had sent all of the bigger items directly to the university, so he only had to find his Dorm to set it all up. He looked at his lanyard that held his room key, student ID, and a small map of the campus. He all but crashed into his door because he was so excited and couldn't stop himself until the last second. Once the door was unlocked, he threw his suitcase onto the bed and swung the curtains open. Sunlight poured into the room, illuminating his smile.
"
This is going to be fun! Eu não posso esperar!" he said aloud.

Miranda Keir was busy in her "dormitory", even though she would call it a small condo, preparing her lesson plans for her Creative Writing major class the following week. For the students, the first week was excitement and curiosity, while for her and the other teachers, it was a slow start to remembering thousands of names and faces and trying to ease the young minds into lessons. She wanted to keep things casual and fun, but it wasn't easy in the long run. She hoped her students would understand where she was coming from. Water running from the shower in the bathroom told Miranda that her husband had woken from his nap and was getting ready for the rest of the afternoon.
"
Don't rush, we have plenty of time. Orientation is tomorrow, after all, and the Teacher Meeting isn't until after dinner," she called out to him. He merely grunted in response. Miranda chuckled and continued sorting her paper work at her desk beside the wide window.
