Morning found Avior slowly given how dark the room remained. Countless sleepless nights had set his internal clock to go off at the same time every day, and even if there was no true account of what time it was on this planet, his eyes still opened to see the faint light of the crystals around him. The first thing he noticed was warmth. A sweet, gentle sort of warmth that was curled up by his side. With the chaos that occurred yesterday, for a brief moment he had forgotten who it was, and why they were there, but when he did remember, his arms only tightened around the boy who laid beside him.

It was truly a shame that this had to happen during such troubling times; as much as he wanted to keep laying here in the safety of the other's company, he knew he couldn't... Not for long anyway... With a sigh, Avior placed his hand gently on Crocus' cheek, his thumb brushing the soft skin slightly as the temptation to keep the other close grew more and more... There were soft words on his tongue that had been plaguing him for some time now, questions he was unsure if he wanted to know the answer to, but... Damn, this just wasn't the time, no matter how perfect it may seem... For now he would just enjoy this brief distraction from their plight...

Atleast he tried to. Something caught his eye, a glint of sorts, something smooth under his thumb that he hadn't noticed before... Had it always been there? No, not with the soft lavender color of the patch... Petal in shape and crystalline in nature... It worried him greatly, for sure. And in that moment, when that quiet panic began to set in, he noticed the same sort of patches on the back of his hand, though his were a dusty rose color and shimmered faintly in the dull light of the room. Panic began to take a hold of his mind, his breath catching in his chest, and the gentle touch he had on Corcus' cheek moved to the other's shoulder as he gave him a worried shake to wake him.

"Crocus... Hey, wake up, something's wrong..." His words were soft, put panicked as his grip tightened on the other. He had a horrible, horrible feeling about this. About all of this now.. "Come, on, Crocus, please, wake up!"

Mornings were usually a hit or miss for Crocus. He hated to wake up alone, but he loved waking up with someone next to him in the bed. Usually more of the later happened, but lately he had been reserving that spot for some future someone. Things might have happened sooner than he expected, but he was happy when he felt arms squeeze around him. Was it so bad that he didn't want it to end? For the time being he just kept his eyes closed and just enjoyed Avior's presence.

That warm thumb brushing against his cheek, were his cheeks going to betray the fact that he was awake with a blush? He hoped not, but somehow doubted it. Something felt off though, like he had lifted his thumb and placed it back on his cheek again. Even with his eyes still closed he felt that moment that Avior started to panic, what was he worried about? Maybe he was right and this was too fast, too soon, or simple just the wrong time. Had he screwed something up?

It took him a moment to open his eyes, even as Avior begged him to open them. Too many thoughts running through his head, but he looked up at Avior and noticed something very odd. He propped himself up on one shoulder and with tired morning eyes gazed at Avior's face.

"It looks like you've been in the sun or something, you've got some freckles." He reached up to touch them. They were small, but he could still tell that they were smooth and didn't belong there. Finally he sat up in the bed and looked at them closer, some might say uncomfortably close. To be fair, he was used to being half blind in the morning without his contacts.

"Are...are these crystals?!" It was then that he noticed the glint of his own finger tips, it was easy to miss since it wasn't very large, not his whole finger or anything, but they were about the same color as his gloves. Okay, this was reason to be concerned.

When the man next to him finally sat up it took every bit of sense that Avior had left within his panicked mind not to grab him, pull him close and squeeze him tight. Thankfully, he did not do so, for had he moved he would have collided straight on with the face that suddenly was mere inches away.

There was none of his usual blush, none of his shy smiles or fidgets, just a distressed look and eyes focused on the petal shaped mark on Crocus' cheek.

"I think they are... And.. And they aren't coming off... Crocus, do you think it was the food? The air... Oh gods, are we going to turn into those crystal servants as well...?"

It was easy to see the concern in Avior's eyes as Crocus examined the new 'freckles' on the other man's face. In any other situation he might say they were quite attractive, but sadly they were strange. They didn't belong there at all. He'd be lying if he said it didn't concern him as well, but he was trying to stay somewhat grounded. They didn't need to panic. If this was happening to the both of them, it was likely a problem for the whole court. Altea would probably have some answers for them, if they could find her.

"Take a deep breath, Avior." Crocus gave his shoulder a little squeeze, trying to relax him a bit. "It could have been anything. This could be that plague Altea had mentioned. Or it could have to do with us being on a strange planet for too long. We'll find a way home and hopefully it'll go away..." That was a lot to hope for, but it was about the only thing that made sense right now. It was concerning though, what if they did turn into crystal servants like the Queen's? The idea of being trapped here like a puppet wasn't comforting at all. Did that mean others had come here without finding a way home though?

Suddenly he wasn't sure they could actually trust Altea anymore. At first she had been like a savior to them, but now...Was it all an act to begin with?

At Crocus advice, he closed his eyes and took a deep breath, fingers moving to grasp gently onto the other's thighs to steady himself.

"You're right... It could be anything.." That thought was even more frightening... If it could have been anything, then...Then what if it was deadly? What if it killed them all? He didn't feel sick, though, not physically anyway. And generally, they were alright. Avior moved his hand to caress Crocus cheek, more for his own comfort than to give the other any, as selfish as that was. His friend was still here, warm under his touch and alive.

"... What should we do..? Should we check on the others to see if they are facing this too...? If it is that plague, how can we stop it if Altea couldn't stop it herself? Maybe we, as humans, might work differently... I just don't know..."

Crocus was glad that he was able to help Avior calm down a bit. He placed his hands over his when they praced his thighs. A little blush ran across his face, they had definitely gotten closer since coming here, but it didn't feel right to confess his feelings during a huge mess like this. They had so much to worry about, he didn't want Avior to be distracted with his feelings.

He still smiled and leaned into the other man's hand as it caressed his cheek. Yeah, he needed a little bit of assurance himself. Whatever was happening to them, they'd find a way to stop it. Be that by going home, finding a cure, or some others means. Surely Altea would have some answer, if they could find her in this large castle. There hadn't been too many sightings of her since that first night.

"I don't know either, but basically the whole court is here. We're smart people. We'll figure this out." Add that to the list of things the court needed to do. Find a way home, get rid of crystallized skin, figure out what Altea is....the list continued to grow every day. Would going home be enough to stop whatever was happening to them? He really, really hoped so.

"On a brighter note. If it wasn't kinda terrifying, the freckles look pretty good on you." Classic Crocus wink here as he admired the new look on Avior.

“Yeah… We’ll figure this out… We always do…” Even if it was some guiding hand that corralled them like sheep, they did manage to come out alright in the end, if a little battered and beaten up. They were still alright. Avior felt Crocus press closer to his hand and he managed a small smile at that, his own sweet feelings for the boy causing a bit of distraction from the situation at hand, not that he minded. Were he more adventurous and carefree, Avior would have indulged himself in this moment of calm they had and pulled Crocus closer to him.

But he was not, and he nearly withdrew from the other, lingering only because it was still a cold morning in this room. That is, until Crocus winked at him in his ever-flirtatious ways, even when panic and impending doom lingered in the air. His cheeks and their new freckled additions heated up, and he pulled away for sure this time, clearing his throat awkwardly.

“I… Um… I’m glad you think so…” He stammered softly, reaching up to touch the shimmering speckles on his face. “Yours looks like a tiny tattoo…. It’s neat looking but… It really shouldn’t be there..”

Crocus nodded along, he was sure that they would all get through this. He hadn't been with the court all that long, but he trusted them with his life. One way or another, they would all get home, crystal free. His only real hope was that it was sooner rather than later. He already felt a bit of a itch to get to the library and search for more answers, or perhaps they could consult with the Queen about what was happening to them. Was this the plague? Or could it just be a side effect of being away from home for to long? She might have some answers for them anyway.

When Nischal pulled away from him he looked a little sad for a second, maybe he had gone a little too far. It was a fairly serious situation after all. As cute as they were, truly, it was sort of frightening. He had a bad habit of deflecting with humor at the most inappropriate times.

"Ugh, it probably looks like some gross prison tattoo." He didn't like the idea of that at all. He started to free himself from the blanket then and climbed out of bed. There were too many questions that they needed to find answers for to spend anymore time curled up in bed. As much as he enjoyed the warmth of his bed, they needed to get started with their day. "Maybe we could look for Altea? With any luck she might have some idea of what's happening..."

"No, it looks fine, I promise." Nischal tried to reassure the other, noticing the sad look, and he reached out again to poke the the little crystal on the other's cheek. "It goes stunningly well with your eyes... for what it's worth.."

As the other extracted himself from the once warm bed, Avior slipped his hand into Crocus, lacing their fingers together and bringing it up to place a small kiss on the back of it. Again, it was a gentle way to seek out the comfort in this horrible situation... But also because he hoped it could distract Crocus as well.. The little crystal was rather lovely on him, if it wasn't for the fact that this whole situation was crazy in itself. He allowed his lips to linger there for a moment before turning up his gaze and smiling sweetly. As much as he wanted to crumble right now, he couldn't. Not when he still found himself urged on to protect Crocus.

Panicking any more wasn't going to help that, for sure. So.... He'd wait until he was home and safe in his bed again to panic again. He'd focus solely on Crocus and getting out of here for now. Yeah... That sounded good.

"Alright... Let's go find her. Or the others... We'll find someone soon.."

Avior probably thought the sad look on his face had to do with the concern for his new crystal growth. It did help that he tried to cheer him up, but he had been more sad about the fact that his friend had pulled away from him first. Let that be a lesson to him, don't push things too far. At least, he thought he'd taken things too far and then his fingers were laced with Avior's and a gentle little kiss on his hand sent his cheek's ablaze. That had been unexpected, but he knew the other man was just trying to comfort him.

"If it looks like good I might just make it permanent." He teased, helping the other from their shared bed space. He didn't let his hand go, giving it a gentle squeeze in return. There was still a lot to worry about, but he knew with Avior watching over him he'd be okay.

"I'm sure everyone is out and about right now." Honestly he was worried that a mass panic was happening outside their doors.
