Kilo trotted through the brush alongside the water just far enough away to avoid being splashed by errant rapids. When he had awoken that morning it had been with an itch in his paws and the tinge of dying leaves in his nose. As he went about his morning stretch and went to find something to drink an arousing sense of adventure had crept under his fur. Fall had always inspired a restless in him. Ever since he was a pup. Something about the last desperate death throes of a world headed into a long ice locked winter aroused in him the greatest sense of being alive. After hunting down a nice plump rabbit for breakfast, the game was always plentiful this time of year as the animals prepared themselves for winter, Kilo had decided to go in search of something exciting. Which was what had led him to the Slypstream.
Kilo had a habit of seeking out old ruins when he was at his most adventurous. He like wandering through the old places imaging what they may have looked like or been used for back in the time of legends. Sometimes he even would enter old ruins that were still standing, using extreme cation as most of them were near collapse. The largest groupings were always his favorite. He searched his mind for old legends to come up with a word. Cities. Yes, that's what they were. Most of them seemed to be near sources of fresh water. So this was as good a place as any to look around.
Kilo hummed as the already fallen leaves crackled under his paws. He had been wandering for most of the morning and hadn't made any new discoveries yet but this didn't discourage him. It was right there. Just out of sight, behind the next tree or around the next bend, he could feel it. It was almost like ascent in the air. The pregnant promise of the crisp fall air and thin streams of warmthless but no less beautiful sunlight.
