First of all, it wasn't a sex dungeon. It didn't remotely resemble a sex dungeon, no matter how many times Fred insinuated that it did. What it resembled was a very gruesome museum exhibit.
But Roswell had a plan for his room, and it involved a type of place that he had kept very close to his heart, and always allowed for whenever he had the money and the space (and usually, he had).
This go round he had the space, at least.
"What I wouldn't give for about a hundred and fifty dollars worth of floor mats," Roswell lamented, having spent several days worth of labor already and now looking at a mostly open floor plan.

Fred had heard about the room idea and was on board with it, because honestly he hated getting wet all the time and the room was somewhere indoors and cool, out of whatever elements were beating up the island at any given time.
He looked over the room thoughtfully. "Well maybe one day you'll get wages, or we'll get the shop going. It looks fine for now though, for what it is."
He grinned. "We have shields anyway, do we need floor mats?"

"Alright, yes, we're not going to break anything rolling around on what is literally rocks, and I'm sure some situations will call for it, but honestly, Fred."
The place was a relic.
There were no windows.
It was somewhere you put people you didn't want coming out again.
There wasn't a bed, and he had done what he could with the...relics. But the majority of the room was just one, large, open square.
"Even when we get said salary, it's enough to buy Lysander some McDonalds and not much else."

"Yes, the wages aren't really impressive. They leave a lot to be desired. But we'll make do, we always do." And it felt good to be able to say we again, to be able to talk about things as if there was a future and he wasn't alone in it. "We've got marketable skills."
Shifting his weight from one foot to the other, he flexed his shoulders and clenched his hands.
"It does make you pretty ******** mad when you think about it though."

"If I ran this organisation," Roswell admitted, "we'd never run out of money again. They have technology that creates portals, Fred. To anywhere, and back here again. Think on that. How are they in such bad shape that they can't even afford facilities?"
His eyes slid over to the neat shift in Fred's posture.

"But everything makes you angry," he said, turning to aim a punch at Fred that missed completely. He hadn't initiated, not really, just from the tone and the stupid smile and the shift in Fred's feet he knew. And Fred knew, and they both knew, like they always knew.
It's what he'd built the room for, in any case.

"Yeah exactly." Fred said. "Either they are ******** incompetent or there is some grand ******** scale embezzlement going on up top and the footsoldiers won't see hide nor ******** hair of it. You've gotta get off this probation, we've got to get ranked up, we need to be up there where the money's moving around, where we can make a difference. Gotta toe the line to do that."
He smirked. "Which means getting your boss in line."
"I dunno mate, I like to think I'm nice and level headed. Calm and s**t." At least it was the impression he gave most people, but Tom had always known better, he'd seen too many of his tantrums to ever think otherwise.
Springing into motion he swung for Tom's jawline, connecting with a satisfying whack of knuckle on bone.

Roswell returned the crack, hit for hit, with aplomb.
"He's considering, I think. I hope. It took me long enough to come around to it. And it's not as though he's unsuited for violence, just that he doesn't like to see himself as someone who is. In any case. Before, I always had the assurance that if we got into a bad situation, even if he didn't like it, I'd be able to protect him. I just didn't anticipate it wouldn't matter in the face of supernatural forces."

Fred hissed with satisfaction as the follow up hit connected, always enjoying the strikes he could really feel, even though the shield.
"He needs to man up about it." he said. "He can't just be a mooch his whole ******** life. Or well, I guess he could but it'd be unfair putting you in danger."
He didn't look too upset about the supernatural forces. "Honestly I was itching for a good ******** challenge for years. People are too easy, people die easy, they get hurt easy. You can just take their stuff and no one will ever really stop you. Police are incompetent, it's all a game I was bored of."
"I wanted to ******** see Wonderland." And again he went in, this time closing his hand on Tom's shirt as he went for the gut, pushing them up back closer to the wall.

"He's not a mooch," Roswell insisted, "He's generous, and wonderful, and very focused on his work, a complete professional in whatever situation..." He realized he was gushing a bit, and curbed it back. "He'll get the hang of it. Surely they have office positions. Someone has to be running something, rather than running away from who-knows-what."
There was a danger in always using the same sparring partner. People who understood how to fight fought in ways that made sense, that coordinated and anticipated the other.
Fighting a stranger opened up the possibility for a lot of idiotic decision making.
"You've got a good chance at it," he said, "beliefs dictate reality. Apparently."

Fred gave Tom a long look accompanied with an eyebrow twitch for his shpeil about Lysander which didn't at all seem to match up with the man he'd seen on twitter and elsewhere. "A professional." he said, but didn't get too far into it. An office position for him seemed like the best for sure.
"I'm going to ******** find it." he said eagerly. "Or something even cooler. I'm going to see everything there is to see and I'm going to bring things back. I'll be stronger than you too, if you don't match me."
Fred fought unpredictably by most people's standards, but Tom and Fred knew one another as well as anyone else.
Tom got shoved against the wall and Fred couldn't keep the smirk off his face. "You aren't ******** matching me today are you?"

Tom gripped Fred back.
"It's anyone's game," he answered him, humming a few bars of Pure Imagination. He felt better, all-told, about the madness with a tour guide.
The room really held up, he thought dizzily and happily, for exactly what he'd intended it to. It wouldn't be much good for their weapons, that was all best done out in the fields with the wards, but for the rest, the leg hits and body blows and grappling and punching and so on, the room was a good place for it that wouldn't bother anyone.
...Or get ratted out.

"It's our ******** game. It's always been our game. You just took a break and picked up a figurehead. I'm fine with a figurehead if its one man enough to handle the role. I can't ******** see him as a crime boss or something though so you'll need to class him as a fixer upper. But we'll figure s**t out, we'll get on our feet again, because we always do, because you always get back up when there's someone with a hand extended to help you."
This time his hand wasn't extended to help him but followed up with two more sharp blows to the ribs, delivered with a grunt of effort.
"I'll help you get the ******** rust off." he said.

Roswell leaned forward, wind knocked out of him.
It was hard to talk without any breath, but he wheezed dangerously, "Who's rusty?" before laying into Fred with a very solid hit. "You think I've been doing nothing but signing things? Whatever this is, it's not going back. I'm not that person. I'm reformed."
He punctuated reformed with another hit.

Fred outright whimpered in pain as he was attacked with surprising vigor, but the startled sound twisted into a rattle of laughter as it brought forth just another wave of adrenaline.
"Oh if only you ******** hit like that every single time." he said.
"Not back but forward. Not that life but another one. You can't escape what you are and who you are mate."
His follow up was a little shakier than he intended.
