Rhys was still holed up in the infirmary, but now with a lot less bandages wrapped around various parts of his body. A lot of the wounds had completely healed or scarred over; basically the only thing left was the hole in his arm, which was understandable. It was a hole. In his arm.
But now that all of the bandages were gone the bruise was a lot more obvious. It seemed less and less like a bruise the longer it stayed on him because it wasn't going through the stages of healing like normal bruises did, and it becoming quite a concern. He'd asked time and again about it and the hunters that tended to him so far kept telling him to wait. He asked again earlier and got the same answer, so he was starting to think that he'd wind up getting poked and prodded in the lab once he was cleared to ********' thing..." he muttered while scratching at it. It itched and it moved. It moved.

Zeke was squinting at the patient chart as he entered the room, rereading the notes on the bottom that outlined what the patient as here for, and even a second time it didn't exactly make sense. Not a typical issue that you'd run into in the real world. Only is Deus. "So," he said as he looked up, recognizing the trainee as the one he'd fought against not that far back. "You've got a bruise that's concerning you?" The chart was set down on the counter beside the sink, and Zeke hooked himself the stool with his foot, dragging it over so he could take a seat.

Rhys had been busy playing solitaire when someone finally came in. He assumed it was a nurse and looked up to ask politely for more pain pills and maybe something to stop the itching, but the person he saw wasn't someone he expected. Zeke, if he remembered the name right from that one spar a while back. "Oh, you."
Again, not really polite. He set his cards down and started to put the cards away while nodding at the question.
"Yeah, it's itchy and I could swear it's ********' moving." Once the cards were back in their box he tossed it on the nightstand before extending his arm to reveal a bruise about the size of an orange on his forearm, right near his wrist. It was dark grey and had an almost cloud-like appearance to it. "I kept thinking I just knocked my head really bad," continued the brunette, "but I seriously think it's moving."

"Oh, it's me," he echoed, not at all out of by the greeting. He'd been working in the infirmary for quite a while now, and he'd had all manner of receptions. There wasn't much that suprised him anymore, and even less that bothered him. He leaned forward as Rhys present the injured arm, reaching out to take hold of his wrist so he could turn it this way and that, looking it over completely. Grey in color, it didn't look like any bruise Zeke had ever seen before. And that, paired with the comment on it moving, had the Mist frowning up at the other trainee. "How did it happen, and where?" Both important questions to consider, considering the nature of their lives and jobs. "And move how?"

"Mexico, at a temple that was getting overrun with creatures of some kind I found the source of it, a Cloud type thing that spits up oily cloud '********' digusting process, but anyway. It attacked me while I was tryin'a gather intel on it, woke up and had this."
Most of what happened afterward was a blur to him so that was about all the details he could offer on the how and where. As for the way it moved...
"Kinda like slow smoke or mist?" he started, not entirely sure how he could describe it. "The bruise doesn't move around on my body, but the inside of it does. Real slow, too, but if you watch it long enough you'll see."

So not the Sahara, and not insects. That was a relief, although, it also eliminated Zeke's initial thoughts on what the bruising might actually be. He frowned thoughtfully as Rhys explained the way it moved. Not a migration, like the Mist had initially thought, but a broiling, churning sort of movement. Like smoke moving under a glass. Contained, but fluid. Very odd. "Does it hurt?" They could take a sample, see what they were working with.

"Kinda?" came his response after taking a second to think. "It's kind of a pressure-like sensation? Like it doesn't belong there and it's pushing out what does. I don't always notice it, mostly just whenever I move my wrist of any of my fingers."
He wasn't sure he was making any kind of sense, but it was what it was and this was how he knew to describe it. Still, he couldn't help but ask, "Does that make sense at all? Or am I totally ******** and stuck with this?"

With that explication he was finally reaching out to trail his fingers over the spot, feeling for anything under the skin, Even if only a slight rise. It sounded like there was something in there, something that was pushing on the muscles and the bones when he moved the wrist. "Has it gotten bigger at all?"

The spot would feel as though there was liquid inside, not unlike a pus-filled wound. The discomfort was plain on his face when Zeke moved to inspect the bruise finally, but he wasn't about to complain. It was only natural that he want to inspect it, after all, so Rhys let him be and eventually nodded at the question.
"Just barely, I think." He pointed at the upper edge that was encroaching on his palm. "It wasn't this high up before, at least."

Etting go, the Mist leaned back on his stool, rolling back a few inches. "I wanna take a sample, but it feels like a water balloon, and if we drain it I think that'll make it feel better. Less pressure pushing on the muscles and tendons in your wrist. That said, he got up and crossed the room to the counter and the supply cabinet beside it so he could gather up what he was going to need.

"Water balloon, that's ********' brilliant!" he said, grinning after the hunter as he rolled off to get supplies. "Wish I'd thought of it...might've made it easier for you to figure out what was going on."
Rhys waited patiently for Zeke to get back with whatever he needed to grab that sample, watching his "bruise" with a curious eye. It shifted slowly, as it had been for the past...however long it'd been since he got it...and with a grumble he gave it a poke before looking up. "If you need a sample I'm guessing you've never seen anything like this before?"

"I haven't seen anything like this, but someone might have. Samples just to make sure all bases are covered." It was a Fear based, fluid filled pocket beneath the skin, but beyond that, Zeke wasn't sure. So he would drain it, take a sample, and advise the trainee to keep an eye on it for any sign of reoccurrence, or anything else weird. His tray, as he returned, held a long needle, a swab, a vial, and the usual supplies needed to clean up and dress a smaller wound. Fresh gloves, a cold cotton ball scrubbed over Rhys' wrist, and Zeke was ready to go. "If you have a weak stomach, I suggest not watching this part. I would really rather not be thrown up on."

"Got it," he said, not needing any more clarification than that.
Rhys looked over the tray with a slight curl in his lip, not sure how he felt about the whole thing. He didn't have a phobia or a weak stomach or anything, but it didn't exactly look like it'd be painless. "I'd rather watch but I'll be fine," he eventually said as he extended his arm to make things easier for Zeke to get at the "bruise" with the needle. "Got a pretty strong stomach, plus I'm kinda curious what's all up in there. So have at it, dude."

He'd take Rhys at his word that he'd be fine, though prepared himself all the same to move away quickly at the first sign of gagging. He'd been vomited on before, and he wasn't in a hurry for it to happen again. Concentrating on the darker skin, he'd pick a point closer to the lower edge to insert the needle, and that in itself wasn't the easiest. It wasn't something their shields really had to guard against, but some were just stronger than others, and there always seemed to be a little extra resistance when dealing with hunters. It went in though, and after drawing it out slowly he positioned a large square of gauze beneath where he'd made the hole. "Okay, here we go." Thumb shifting to the bruise itself, he pushed down into the upper edge of it, rolling it downward to drain the mystery fluid from the trainee's arm.

The trainee actually expected the needle to break because of the FEAR shield and all, which was part of why he wanted to see how this was done, but was surprised (and relieved) when Zeke managed to get the needle in without any apparent problems. He was mildly impressed, and when he was given the cue that the extraction was about to start he zoned in on it.
And did his best to ignore the very intense pain that suddenly was surging from the point of extraction. It was like sucking sludge into an eyedropper, which was exactly how the "fluid" looked inside the syringe--slick, very shiny looking sludge--he did his best to not be too vocal about how much pain he was actually in.
