Jamie lingered at his desk as his classmates hurried out to recess. He followed slowly, staying back from the eager hoard. They were loud. And he was getting use to them being loud but still didn’t really like it. He walked outside, watching his peers for a moment. He really wasn’t sure what to do, or where to go. His ears flickered down, tail curling around his feet.

 A happy ball of kumiho fluff bounced down the row of desks, her tails fluffing about as she moved. Here eyes were bright, happy and excited, and her ears were twitching energetically. She paused by a kid who was still sitting at his desk, and beamed at him. "Come on!
It's time to go play outside! It's the best time of the day!" and continued on down the aisle.

Jamie paused as suddenly someone pink and fluffy was in his face and talking? Why were they talking to him? He slunk down a bit intimidated by the Kumiho. She was sort of loud.
He twisted, watching her leave and paused. But she also had tails? And they were pink and bright. And maybe he should follow? Because it wasn't like he could stay here.
He slid out of his seat and followed after the Kumiho.

She got outside, and stood in the eternal twilight, gazing at the sky calmly. "It's a good day." She said, in a quiet, happy voice, and she wandered over to a tree, climbing up to a low branch and sitting on it, her tails bouncing.

Jamie stopped when he got outside, freezing for a moment before following and paused looking up. "I... like your tails." He muttered, watching them move. They were bright and fluffy.

The quiet voice surprised her,
and caused her tails to twitch violently for a moment, as she looked down.
They calmed immediately when she recognized the kid as the one who she had spoken to before. "Ah? Oh! Thank you! Wanna sit with me?" She said in a calm,
happy voice.

Jamie scuffed a foot before giving a nod and finally. "Y-yes?" He clambered up, settling away from her, tail curling around the branch. "Um...I'm Jamie." He added.

"I'm Orenda! It's nice to meet you." She held her hand out to him, giving him a sweet and friendly smile. One of her tails wiggled up and brushed him by accident.

"That is pretty." He reached to take the offered hand but with the brush of Orenda tail, grabbed at it instead.

Whe he grabbed her tail,
she froze for a long moment, utterly unsure how to respond. Finally, she said "Um... thank you?" She wanted to tell him that this was kind of personal but she also didn't want to scare the shy seeming kid off.

Jamie gave a purring churrrrtttthh before flushing and letting go. "Um...sorry, sorry." He said and pushed off the tree limb and to the ground.

She blinked, startled, at when he jumped back down. "Um, it's ok? I... you don't have to go, you know. Unless you want to, that is." She looked confused at him. "I mean, really. It's ok, Jamie.
I'm not mad?"

"Not.. just..chtttt." He trailed off, flustered and shook his head, hands combing through the green hair. Mmh hmm. He sat down at the base of the tree, tail curled around his feet and gave a upset huff.

She frowned down at the top of his head, trying to decide how to handle this. Finally she hopped down and sat right next to him, wrapping an arm around him. "Seriously, it's ok. I'm not mad,
and I'm not bothered. It just surprised me."

Jamie peered up and chattered and clicked for a nearly a minute before stopping and rubbing his hand over his face. "Um...lost words, for a moment." He was still flushed and embarrassed. Words were hard and he missed hearing his mother tongue. "Miss my mom."
