When she'd come home and started to cry, he knew what was going on. She'd taken his words to heart and for once - god damn it all - he wished he'd kept his trap shut. Her sobbing was breaking his own little furry heart, which should have been buried away and ignoring all of this if he knew what was best for him.
Ever since their spat (or argument, fight, whatever she was going to call it), he'd kept to himself but also kept nearby. In other words, he'd burrowed under her bed and hadn't crept out since.
As the soft whimpers and cries hit her pillow, he inched his way out to the side of the bed. Green eyes were wide and curious, Bob feeling like a fiend for causing such a sweet girl such pain. Did he do the right thing? He was protecting her, right?
His mouth opened to speak but she was busy punching in keys. Ears flattened as she buried her face into her pillow shortly afterwards and like clockwork, a ping soon hit her phone that had her getting up out of bed and straightening herself up.
Bob, on the other hand, retreated back to the depths of the bed's protection.
Akio had come to save the day - joy - leaving Bob to find his comfort nestled against forgotten socks and tubs of storage. He remained quiet, listening and pining for soft hands to hug him - even if he was the one who'd caused all this mess in the first place.
Sigh.
Morning had come before anyone realized it, cue the intimidating Willows father's appearance that seemed to shake the bed and the mop of brown hair with it. Heh. Served the squirt right, trying to spend the night with his girl.
But then the two had taken off to breakfast or wherever, leaving the large Maine Coon to once again squirm his way back from beneath the bed, two paws and two eyes peeping out from the shadowy depths as he awaited her inevitable return....

To the teen's surprise, it was easy to pretend that she was doing better for the sake of her too-lovely boyfriend. Akio had come running to her side the moment she expressed needing him and had been utterly wonderful in how he cared for her while trying to cheer up. And, for a few glorious hours, Rory did feel better.
But...once she had returned home and locked the door behind her, depositing her keys on the counter, she could feel the near-crushing weight of sadness that had burrowed a place in her heart.
Footsteps were heavy as she climbed the stairs and when she pushed her bedroom door open the first thing she was greeted with were big green eyes that belong to one of her cats. The same cat who was, arguably, the primary reasoning behind her sadness even if he wasn't directly the cause. Bob.
Bob who meant well when he'd told her that whatever she was doing had been idiotic and despite their fight...she knew he wanted the best for her.
It didn't take her long to collapse to her knees barely halfway in the door. Nor did it take her much time at all before she was sobbing.

When she'd returned home, ears perked up as he listened closely to the footsteps downstairs. He heard the keys jingle and footsteps creaking up the old staircase, but from the sound of it, only one set of footsteps were making their way up.
So the magical boyfriend hadn't made it back with her.
He wanted to feel satisfied at the thought but when he saw her expression as the teenager entered the room, all smug thoughts flew out the window.
She was on the ground in an instant, jade eyes meeting his for a brief moment before she collapsed into a pile of tears and wrinkled clothes.
He should leave. He should leave for good - hadn't he caused enough damage?
But instead, he was slowly crawling his way out from the underside of the bed, heavy body slinking as he hunkered his way towards her, ears flat and tail tucked.
"Rory?"

She couldn't stop the sniffling or the tears that left her face red and splotch. Hiccups got the better of her whenever she tried to regulate her breathing, small frame shaking with every sob that got the better of her.
The worst part was that crying didn't make her feel better.
Everything hurt because Seal was gone and Bazzi was leaving and she was staying where she was unable to keep it together. She hadn't had close friends until them - Axton and Pasi didn't count, they were like brothers. And she had to give them both up because that was what was best for them and she hated it.
"H-he's g-gone," she hiccuped, each breath taken in staccato pants she couldn't help. "I- I ga-gave him up-p." The sleeves of her sweater were used to wipe at her face before she was reaching for the large cat that lumbered towards her. "I - I don't want a le-lecture. I just...I just n-need--" she couldn't even finish her request but she needed someone to comfort her.

She was blubbering and weeping so hard that her words were hardly coming out, shaky statements confirming what he'd assumed she'd done. Aurora had given up the man that Bob had warned her about seeing - the mysterious figure in the park that had stolen away her attention and her affection. Who now had her sobbing in a heap on the carpet of her bedroom.
As small hands outstretched themselves towards him, Bob's feet picked up until he was climbing unceremoniously into her lap, all twenty-some odd pounds of cat making himself comfortable among the pale skin and fabric that made up Aurora Willows.
A low, calming purr rumbled through his body as he worked his best to console his weeping charge, two front paws reaching up to where his small head could draw near to her face. Scratchy tongue attempted to collect some of the tears - he wasn't some stupid mutt but what else could he do? - before taking his head and nuzzling her directly below the chin.
"I'm sorry, baby girl. I'm so sorry you have to go through this."

The weight of the cat in her lap was almost as comforting as having Akio's arms wrapped around her when she had him stay over. Normally Bob attempting to lick up her tears with his sandpaper tongue would have made her laugh but instead it made her tug him closer and bury her face in his fur.
Rory hated everything in that moment.
Into Bob's fury her small voice said, "I love him." While it was one thing to say it to Seal himself, especially when she knew that they were parting ways and she didn't want to leave anything unsaid, it was another thing to admit it to someone else. And...Rory didn't have anyone else to talk to except for maybe Jules who would have approved far worse than Bob did. "I k-know, I know it's bad and it- it w-won't w-work b-but...but..."
She loved him and she had to tell him to get out of her life because she knew she would put him first and above everything despite knowing he didn't love her back.
"H-he loves me b-but not li-like th-that."

He stilled as she uttered those words, those condemning words he knew would cause her far more trouble than they were worth. Surely she was simply being a starry-eyed daydreamer, finding the romance of the situation overwhelming?
Aurora hardly had begun to step out into the dating world and she was already trying to announce that she was in love with a boy? A boy that was magical and not on their side???
Bob said nothing at first, choosing to continue to remain a towel for the teenager's tears as they flowed freely onto his thick fur. The urge to cringe was high but so was his need for making the turquoise haired girl smile again, so he made due with the sudden, uncomfortable wetness and continued to nuzzle against her.
Finally, he found himself chirping up in his small voice, "Then he's a fool to not realize what a remarkable woman you are, Aurora."

"Y-you probably think I'm being - that I'm being stupid."
It wasn't like Bob knew about her history with Seal's Eye or that he was - had been her closest confident. Or that she had known him for over a year and that he was easily her best friend. Until they were caught, he was a closely guarded secret she had been ready to take to the grave with her. Naive hope had kept her from accepting that their time together was ultimately limited because of the nature of their roles.
But she had wanted and she had hope because Aurora Willows didn't allow herself to be selfish often but she had allowed herself to be selfish about her dream prince and now, now her dreams had threatened to twist into a nightmare and she was miserable for it.
"A-akio, he...he told me he loved me but I don't - I don't know and I - " Her voice kept shaking, words barely comprehensible as she spoke to her cat, the same one that started this whole mess but she couldn't stop rambling. "I want to love him but..." Right now she didn't or if she did she couldn't see it past how she loved Seal.
"B-bazzi left too."

Bob's eyes narrowed. Of course that foolish ragamuffin would have professed his love to her - of all times, too. Didn't the dunderhead have any tact and know he should wait until the lady said it first?
And wait... Bazziboy left? To where? Where the heck did a YOUMA need to go, aside from the Rift?
Shaking his head, the furry guardian clucked his tongue as he tried to straighten out his own thoughts. If it was this difficult for just him, who knew what the emotional little squirt was going through?
"Alright, baby girl. Can't lay around on the floor all day - as easier as life would be for you to be a Mau, you were unfortunately cursed with simply being a two-legged cutie."
The cat hopped his way out of her lap, moving to nudge her side rather insistently with the top of his noggin. "Up, up. More comfortable on the bed, anyways. We can talk better up there - proper pillow talk and all."

Moving was the last thing she wanted to do.
Frankly all Rory wanted to do was stay where she was on the floor and maybe lay on her side and she ran her fingers through Bob's fur and cried until there weren't any tears left to cry. Unfortunately for her, the cat had a different plan and took his fluffy pillowy self out of her arms and kept headbutting her. Normally that would be cute and she would have drawn him against her but right now?
Right now it was annoying and she pushed her palm against his chest to push him away.
"No. I don't want to move." She huffed like a child about to throw a tantrum. Bob's pushing wasn't letting up and she finally forced herself up to climb into her bed where she just sort of flopped on top of it.

She was behaving like a brat but he supposed she'd earned the right.
It wasn't every day that you were forced to turn away a person you felt you loved. He assumed she'd felt strongly for the stranger - maybe it was even real love - but her feelings were only going to get her in trouble, as far as he was concerned. She'd already let her emotions get the better of her and it had almost cost the both of them dearly... Bob wasn't willing to risk that again, not this soon.
Hopping up on the bed after the flopped teenager, he moved to burrow his large body under one of her sprawled arms. He may not be good for consolation, he figured, but he'd make at least one hell of a pillow for the kid.
Once he found a comfortable spot, he curled up against the warmth of the young woman and green eyes watched her thoughtfully.
"What happened to Bazziboy?"

She was laying face first into her pillow, with her braid half unraveled against the mattress when Bob wedged his way beneath her arm for more snuggles. Rory however turned her face away and didn't hug him close like she might have on a better day.
No, she was defeated and she was treating her bed like it.
"He said he was leaving." Her words were muffled by her pillow but she didn't care. "Said he would rather die that be like he is all because his stupid general gave him a pendant that reminded him that he wasn't always a youma."
Whomever this stupid Beni was, she hated him.
"He wants to be human again but he's probably dead. He left me. Seal left me and then Bazzi did too."

He wasn't deterred when she turned away. No, if she didn't want anything to do with him, she would have told him so - god knew how she'd gotten that across to him before, during heated discussions. His baby girl was simply sad and having herself a sad moment.
Women needed extra time, what with their emotional, frail states. He didn't understand them but he knew they needed them and damn it, he was going to be there for his sweet little senshi.
Purring, he rubbed her back and shoulder with his head, paws kneading the bedspread next to her to show that he was content with their position, even if he'd rather be drawn up into her warm, comfortable arms. "At least you have some closure in that regard. Wouldn't it be more upsetting if he'd left and not said a word at all?"
It was alarming, sure, to hear the giant bug youma was using his brain and actually trying to rectify the ailment that had been inflicted upon him. Bob couldn't exactly fault him, though - how much easier would life had been for the Mau, if he'd been given the option of staying human as opposed to his furry, four legged self?
"I'm sure Bazzi is fine. Bugbrained, but fine. We can go looking for him later, if you start to feeling better," he instructs, intentionally avoiding talk of this Seal person or what he had done to her heart. "You've still got me, baby girl. Things'll get better, you'll see."
Paws padded their way up to the top of the pillow and he hunkered down, emerald eyes staring down at his sad little charge.

"How?" Rory snapped, sitting up on her elbows. The position allowed her to jerk away from the cat without falling off the bed. "How are we supposed to find him? I can't go into the Rift. I'm not allowed." Not without supervision from a nega of some sorts and even then she was a freaking magnet for youma that wanted to eat her.
All because she was a stupid senshi.
She wished Aurostibite had never brought her to Laurelite for that reason. If she hadn't been Hydra she wouldn't have met Seal's Eye OR Bazzite and she wouldn't feel lost and abandoned.
"He kept saying he wanted to cry. Bazzi wanted to cry and he left me. I told him I didn't want him to go and he didn't care." He would rather be dead than stay with her. What good was she to any of the people she loved?
"Even if he's not dead, if he managed to undo whatever there's no place for me."

He plopped down on his haunches, thick tail slowly gliding back and forth across the surface of the bedding as he listened to her outburst. She needed to work out this frustration, get out this aggression verbally as opposed to leaping out the window and getting into physical trouble again.
It didn't make it any less difficult for him to bite his tongue. He wanted to tell her to grow up, that this was what being an adult entailed - that people didn't always get what they wanted and they needed to learn to cope with that knowledge.
Instead, his nose wrinkled here and there while his tail continued to sway.
Thoughts flickered over to one of his newest associates, the scale covered woman who was probably one of the only beings under the sun that could convince Bob to rob a toy store, of all things.
"I know a gal out there in the Rift. I can see if she's noticed him," he offered, raising one paw as if it were a hand, motioning while he spoke. "And if he's not out there, well... we'll figure something out, baby girl. Bazzi's a strong little bugman. I'm sure he'll be fine, wherever he is."
