Physical Description: Lex has short, messy black hair and brown eyes. He is tall, quite tanned, and has many scars, particularly on his back.
Personality: Lex can be quite charismatic and charming when he wants to be. He's good at flirting, has a relaxed and friendly demeanor, and is usually quick to make friends. Whether he'll use this charisma for good or evil is another matter. Lex doesn't have any truly villanous tendencies, but he's apt to bend the rules and is not terribly sympathetic of others, serving himself above all else. The one exception to this is his sister, who is his whole world. Being a somewhat more caring sort, she will often drag him into helping others as well, which he is fine with. If it's what his sister wants, he has no problems helping someone. Of course, he might just steamroll a dozen others on the way.
For the people he loves, there are no lengths he wouldn't go to. When Matti is in danger, he sees red, able to focus on nothing else until she is safe. There is no sacrifice he wouldn't make (his own or others) to save her. He can be very protective of her, but doesn't border into over-protectiveness, always letting her make her own decisions and never trying to stop or limit her. But he will always be there to pick her up when she falls.. and knock the lights out of whoever pushed her. His view of family is nucleused around her, but anyone she chooses to include in her sphere he treats as family as well.
There are others whose company he will enjoy, but they are never more than a few turns of fate away from getting back stabbed. He doesn't consider the ideas of honestly or loyalty to be all that important, and will be happy to push someone else under the bus to save his own skin. He has very strong survival instincts, is a good talker, and is highly resourceful, getting himself out a good number of scrapes in his time.

History: Lex's father was a pirate. He used to be the kind of man to have a girl in every port, so it wasn't all that surprising that he got a few of them pregnant. Lex's mother insisted he take reponsibility, and pushed the boy off on the man the next time he came to port, saying she wanted nothing to do with it. Having a young son to think of matured Ahlexis considerably. He'd also fallen in love with a woman, a young lady from a small hold along their trade routes. When the woman ran away from home to be with him, Ahlexis gave up his promiscuis ways and settled down, as much as a pirate could, anyways.
Ahlexis still went away for large stretches of time, leaving Lex to be raised by his adopted mother, who he soon grew to love like his own mother. When his little sister was born, Lex was besotted. He adored the little girl and would do anything for her. Sadly, only a few turns later, the woman died after helping tend to a plague ship and getting ill herself.
Not able to take care of the child himself, Lex left Matti with her aunt while he went out to earn a living on the sea and look for their father. However, unlike their father, Lex didn't turn to piracy right away, but found himself a job on a legitimate trading ship. He would send most of his money to the people caring for Mattavi, or use it to buy presents for her, and spent all of his shore leave going to see her. Until one day she wrote to him saying she intended to leave home and come and join him.
Never able to say no to her, Lex found her a position on his current ship, but it wasn't the life he would have wanted for her. He disliked his current captain greatly, and was hoping to find somewhere better for them to work next time they went ashore. Sadly, a storm stuck when they were part way through their journey, eating up time and blowing them off course. It soon became clear that the captain would rather risk all of their lives than turn back and lose profit. After speaking with his sister and the other men, he helped lead a mutiny against the man.
Though not sadistic, Lex was not a forgiving person. And if it were up to him, they would have killed the captain and all those who fought with him where they stood. But sailors have old traditions and superstitions, and so the men were set adrift, left to die by the sea instead. Only they didn't. And by the time the mutineers made it back to shore, they found that they were wanted men.
While lying low, Lex and Mattiva were spotted by a Search rider from Western. Though not particularly interested in dragons, it seemed like the perfect place to hide out for a while, so Lex agreed. He had no way to know that another sailor from the same ship would be at the hatching. The two fought, only pulled apart at the end by their dragons. Weyrlinghood was tense, and Lex wanted to leave as soon as possible, but Matti was still a candidate there. In the end, he decided the Weyr was the safest place for her, and went out again to find work, this time looking to sign on for a pirate ship.
Since thread's return, he's been debating whether to return to the Weyr. He hates the idea of his sister being stuck there and forced to fight thread, but he hasn't been able to convince her to leave yet.

Physical Description: A dark bronze with lighter splotches along his back, neck, and tail. Generally amiable seeming, often sporting blue to green eyes. Long wings, though he is not the largest Bronze that ever Bronzed.
Personality: No, no, no! You mustn't fight, mine! Saith is a whole lot more moral-minded than his rider ever will be, wanting to do what's right and perform with honor. He is constantly trying to dissuade Lex away from his criminal enterprises, drawing him more and more towards the legal side of things. He isn't the bravest bronze, more bark than he is bite.
Though not the most strict about it, Saith is always blindsided when the world doesn't fit with his grandiose image of it, and that includes plucky blues and greens that want to rise above their station. He isn't necessarily angered by it, but it always throws him for a loop and he can never quite get his head around it either.
