Name:
H'ral
Age:
52
Sex:
Male
Sexual Orientation:
Homosexual
Weyr:
Western Weyr
Rider Rank:
Wingleader - Bahrain Wing
Previous Rank/Craft:
Journeyman Healercraft
Physical Description:
Personality:
From the day of his birth, H'ral has always been a light-hearted sort of fellow. He loves being near and around his people, entertaining the notion that it's not so hard to make friends if you just try. He's always ready with a smile and a hand, even in the roughest of times, knowing well that something like that can change the course of someone's day. It's rare to see H'ral without a smile, unless he feels like something's gone a little out of place...but that's neither here nor there. He tends to be a bit of a joker, as well, often making light of things that most people might find a bit too much. He entertains himself, and he thinks, the masses.

H'ral is a father first and foremost, a man who's always going to look after the people that matter. If he were permitted, H'ral would probably take the entire weyr under wing, make sure they were taken care of. He has a drive to ensure that no one feels left behind, there with a steadying hand, and calm word. He is calm and kind, usually looking out for the people that are in his hand. Why would he do anything but? They're already fighting things that are rough, why make it much harder? He will always sit down and listen so that he knows what to do, who to take care of, and who to press down on. There is, after all, a difference between who you can coddle, and who you need to be more firm with.

H'ral tends towards speaking his mind, not the sort to ever hold back for the sake of rank or politeness. There's no curb to a tongue that tells the truth. He'll even tell the truth about himself. He's been known to say just what he thinks, regardless of who he looses his tongue on, that includes those he works with and under. True, he's doing it out of his own best interest, and that of those around him, that doesn't change the fact that he's aggressive and blunt. He also tends to prefer to stick to his schedule, and to the rules that have always been laid before him. There's a pattern, and following it is in everyone's best interest.

His tendency towards wanting the best for others can lead him to be overprotective. H'ral has a need to ensure that people are taken care of, and will go through whatever means necessary to ensure that this happens. He has been known to pull people out of the way of a punch, and take it himself, and has a bad habit of jumping in even where he's not wanted.

Positive Trait List Jovial, Kind, Fatherly
Negative Trait List Blunt, Rigid, Overprotective

History:
H'ral began life back in Benden, a young man who was raised by a Courtesan who knew well what her son was supposed to be. No matter what others thought, she taught him early to stand up for who he was, and who he believed himself to be. Being in Benden was nice, giving him a freedom to be himself, to learn how to grow and respond. He and both of his little sisters were happy, enjoyed the streets. The last thing any of the children expected were to be brought in to a Weyr's fold. Haral was the first searched, brought to Western by a bluerider whose dragon saw something in him that even the boy wasn't sure of. Something that wouldn't come for a long time.

From fourteen to nineteen, he fell in to the routine of weyr life. He became the sort who made friends easily, stood without upset when he didn't find his partner...It was well known that he liked looking out for his friends and even those that he didn't know in the Candidate group. As younger candidates came in, Haral would comfort them, stand with them, and try to help them laugh, help them see the levity for those that were scared or nervous. It was clear from the get-go that he liked people. It was while he was helping keep a mauled candidate calm that he heard the voice in his head at ninteen turns old. Sigurath, a rather grumpy young Bronze, had trundled over to him and instantly demanded his attentions, saying that while caring for others was all well and good, H'ral had HIM to take care of, and it wouldn't hurt to take care of himself either.

It was shocking to the man, knowing that with his condition, it had been unlikely to his mind that he would Impress a Bronze. In fact, he'd almost thought he might age out. Instead, he became a dedicated Bronzerider, knowing well that he could help people. Sure, he might have seemed a bit off, might have made jokes when he shouldn't have during the practices...but with Sigurath's serious and demanding nature, it helped to create a powerful team of two.

For many turns now, H'ral has been a wingrider, happy to serve however he's asked, a strong figure who took in new kids, and adults alike, trying to help them through. During a Goldflight in his 25th turn, a one-night stand resulted in him becoming pregnant. He bore his first child to term, the little girl that resulted from it one of his most precious creations. He left her with the Creche, but was a constant presence in her life, calling himself her father, not letting even her know the truth. Sigurath took to his Rider's children well, entertaining the girl when she came to stay in the weyr.

He blames himself, partially, that his daughter became a Rider, knowing well what kind of danger it could put her in if Thread came back. He may not like it, but she is a Bluerider, and a strong one. Of that he's proud, despite the fact that a female on a blue is a bit more odd, even if not at Western Weyr. Nonetheless, it matters little. He began to take his commitments more seriously after she became a rider, becoming a strong bronzerider that was very serious about both his training, and the people he cared for. Before Threadfall, many turns before, he had a second child, a boy, who he became over-protective of. His daughter would become the caretaker for the boy, when she could. H'ral took a bit of time off Wing Drills to recover from that pregnancy, this one taking a heavy toll on him.

The boy was eleven turns old when the thread fell, H'ral having thrown himself back in to his duties as a Bronzerider, Sigurath glad to be back in the skies. The two of them thrust themselves in to defending the others that fought, soaring high and taking out thread to defend the people of Western, to ensure the safety of the Queens, Children, and other Riders alike. Both of them took injuries in the thread, but it hardly mattered. The important thing was that this was what they had trained for.

DRAGON
Name:
Sigurath
Age:
33 Turns
Color:
Bronze
Size:
42'
Physical Description:
A miiddling bronze, Sigurath is built for stamina in flight and making the turns and twists required of a Rider. His neck is the longer part of his body, with slightly more stout legs, and a broad barrel to his chest to support huge wings.
Personality:
Of the Rider and Dragon pair, Sigurath is the driven one. He is the one that seeks to stand at the top, and will put back in line any that cross him. The Bronze puts stock in his hide, and his position, and will stand tall against anything. He is fiercely loyal to His, his Wing, and his Weyr, sure that this is the best place for anyone to be. While he might be a bit over-zealous about it all, he is at least the sort to listen to the concerns of any that matter to him. While he might be aggressive and protective, he has a soft spot. The bronze is poetic, and were he human, he might well be a Harper. He adores females of all shapes and sizes, and wants nothing more than to spend time with each of them. He tends to get distracted by a pretty hide, though, which can cause His a bit of frustration.
