This time it was a rather dreary day for limbara hunting. The skies had greeted the morning by opening up for a great downpour that had soaked the lands causing mud to swell up with water where the grounds could only absorb so much. Unfortunately for Kieran that meant his normal treak had to be altered and he found himself in a new area of the valley. Everything here was less of a climb, since mudslides were dangerously possible at the moment, and he found himself slipping in random holes hidden by muck and rainwater. What a great day to go hunting….

Alright so perhaps it wasn’t the best day to go out, but his time was limited and he was determined.

As another pair of limbara came into view the Yaeli snuck through the area towards them. It was fairly easy considering how the mud hid his scent and also helped him to blend into his surroundings, almost like some mud monster. Gripping his whip though Kieran braced himself as he darted forward. Thankfully it caught both limbara off guard and even they struggled in the flooded area. Normally steady on their feet one limbara actually slipped and Kieran took the opportunity to quickly tie up that one. It did try to bite him, but the yaeli managed to twist away from the mighty jaws before taking out rope and tying it around the snout. That was a bit too close for comfort. One false move and not only could he have been crushed under the mighty feet, but he could have lost a hand to the strong bite that the creature had.

The other limbara, now that it was finding its footing, was a bit more difficult as Kieran had to dart around it (while trying not to fall flat on his face as well) and find its weak point. The mud was helpful in the fact that he could press up against a tree to hide before waiting on the limbara to wander past. It was then that he lashed out with his whip and managed to snag the last one. Still, it bucked and bucked as Kieran tried to stay on its back. The mud and rain made things slick but he found some rough edges of scale and held on for dear life.

I can do this, I can do this. Think of what you’re wanting to do. He had to keep reminding himself of the end goal even when the limbara was trying to toss him into the air. Only a crazy man would be this daring, but Kieran was willing to take such a name. In fact, he was actually grinning in amusement as both he and the limbara wore themselves down and slowly sunk into the ground. As both took a moment there seemed to be some form of truce as Kieran moved to tie up the limbara. Perhaps this one would be too tired to be feisty.

He could only hope, right?

Exhausted both the Yaeli and the limbara just stood there staring at each other for what felt like ages. Eventually Kieran raised a hand to try and touch the rough hide, but the creature managed enough energy to sidestep the attempt. “I suppose I wouldn’t trust someone who just fought me like a madman in the rain.” Kieran closed his eyes in frustration, “Honestly though I’m just trying to find one of you who would be gentle enough to deal with someone I cherish. She needs some protecting and I’m hoping one of you could do it for when I’m away.”

What type of fool expressed himself to the limbara like this? Not like the creature was listening. By far it seemed frightened and the thought made Kieran’s gaze drop. In his desperation he had been treating the beasts roughly, something far unlike his normal stance on taming. I can’t, can I? This one was obviously too tired to fight, but it still didn’t feel right. Kieran reached up to pinch the bridge of his nose in frustration. I can’t. So with a sigh the man untied the limbara, “Stay if you want, but if not I won’t force you.”

And of course as soon as the last rope was untied the creature began to slowly lumber away.
