"Hey," Jordan answered, smiling as he came in. He glanced at Melvin's shirt, puzzling out the elaborate lettering of the band name. "How many of those do you have?" he asked curiously. "I don't think I've seen any of them twice."

"Looks comfortable in here," he added. "You thought of everything."

"Caustic Slut Shakes is a, um, creative band name." Jordan laughed. "I can only imagine what those t-shirts were like. Lurid, I'm sure. But that's traditional for metal stuff, isn't it?"

He followed Melvin over to sit on the edge of the bed and looked over the selection of movies he was offered. "I haven't seen this one," he said, and picked one of the newer Star Wars titles. "What's the release date? I hear they're making more spin-offs?"

The comment about his mood was met with a slightly sly sidewise smile. "Do I?"

"What's your particular style preference? Or are your tastes eclectic?" Jordan acquired a pillow to lean back against and crossed his ankles comfortably. He wasn't sure he could tell the difference between various styles in metal music himself. A lot of it sounded like noise and screaming to him. But Melvin liked it, so he would make a reasonable attempt to be interested.

"Makes for more movie nights, right?" He laced his fingers behind his head. "I can host next time, or bring the snacks."

"Or something." He paused a moment and took a breath. "You were right. There was a compromise."

"I like ballads and narrative stuff. Well, I mean, I'm into folk, but the general lyric style. I don't know how much crossover there is. I'd have to listen to more metal." Jordan leaned over and took a soda for himself, popping it open.

"Relationships," he clarified, a small smile on his face, more sweet than smug. "When we talked about it, you suggested a compromise might be possible. It was. Harrison still isn't interested in taking me back, and I expect he won't ever be, but they talked it out and decided that Rep being with me is okay and not cheating."

"Boyfriend," Jordan corrected. "I wasn't involved in the wedding." There was a flicker of something in his eyes at that, but it passed quickly, the past set aside for the present. He folded one leg, tucking his foot under his other knee. "I went to talk to him, after you and I talked. I needed to know for sure if it was over, or if there was any chance left."

"We haven't talked about marriage. I'm okay with this, though." Jordan's smile faded, his expression going more serious. "I can't have everything I wanted, and I knew that. But I can have part of it." He studied Melvin's face, realizing belatedly that his own good luck might be pointing out to Melvin where Melvin's situation was lacking. "I thought he was going to tell me no, but apparently he also thought I would tell him to ******** off with the compromise."

"We'll see where it goes. I think we can make it work. We'll communicate better when we're not avoiding each other out of sheer awkwardness." Jordan sounded fairly confident about this, if mildly embarrassed.

The smile reassured him a little. "Visiting," he said. "I think keeping my own living space will help things stay peaceful. I like company but I need some room to myself, too."
