Seren stepped out of the gym, ready to get cleaned up after her work out. She preferred to do it at the dorm showers, however, for some reason. Maybe it was because she was going to get soaked in the rain walking back, and it would warm her up again. She was wearing leggings, instead of her usual skirt, with a tank top, and her coat was hanging over her arm. She'd tied her hair back with her scarf, to keep it out of her face. She sighed, looking pleased, if tired, by the results. It was clear she'd been working pretty hard, and at the moment, the cool rain felt good on her very warm skin. "Mmmm another good workout, though I definitely need to talk to some one about more specific details for arm muscles..." She murmured to herself. She was grateful she was one of the lucky ones who got that after workout buzz, and always enjoyed the feeling.

Today was gym day, or more so the day that Val got to spend a majority of her time telling him what to do and what not to do despite not knowing what half of the machine’s even did. It was more of work those string bean arms, and how are you out of breath already we have only been at this for an hour and so on and so forth. Sid wasn’t even entirely sure why he listened to her other than the fact that she nagged him to death in his head if he didn’t, maybe it was also the matter that it was a little boring on the island. It wasn’t that there weren’t people, and things to do, just not the same sort of adrenaline that he had come accustomed to. When Sid finally emerged back from the locker he gave a dismal look to the pouring rain outside, great either he was trap to hang out in the gym longer or he could walk back and become soaked and have to shower again. There was another hunter standing there just outside the door. “Hey, stuck waiting on the rain too?” He offered a friendly enough smile not trying to let the wetness get to him.

She looked up, startled, not realizing anyone was there. "Ah? Oh! I was... actually going to walk back, use the showers at the dorm. Get cooled off on the walk, warm up to proper temperature, that sort of thing." She brushed a lock of her hair out of her blue eyes, gazing curiously at the other hunter, not recognizing him. Which wasn't that big of a surprise, she barely knew anyone here. "I'm Seren, by the way." She held her hand out to shake, continuing to exam him, watching him for signs of how he'd behave, or act. "Looks like you showered already. Didn't bring your coat?" Her tone was light, conversational and polite.

“That would have been the smart thing to do.” He gave her half a smirk from the corner of his lips. To be entirely fair he would have done the same thing if he had half the mind to pay attention to what the weather was like outside before showering. “Sidney, but feel free to call me Sid Mademoiselle Seren.” He stuck his own hand out to shake hers rather enthusiastically, something he had a habit of doing ever since he had visited America. “Oui, but I am not sure how much good it will do keeping the rain off by the time I get back to the dorm.”

She laughed a little, and shrugged. "To each their own, sir. To each their own." She arched an eyebrow at the smirk, mildly amused at him so far. His enthusiastic handshake was met with an amused grin, and she said "It's a pleasure, Sid. Please, feel free to just call me Seren. It feels so oddly formal to be addressed that way, and if there is one thing I am not used to, it's being treated with such formality." Her expression showed nothing but amusement, but there might have been a hint of discomfort in her eyes, and in the way she shifted. His comment about his coat made her brows lift again, a confused expression for a moment, then understanding dawned. "Ah. You didn't get lucky and get a coat with a hood, I take it?" She gestured at the hood dangling from the coat on her arm. "My sympathies. With the way the weather seems to be around here, a hood is more then a blessing. I would offer you mine temporarily but I am not sure the fit would be good."

There was a chuckle on his lips as he gave her a wide grin, and maybe a wink in agreement. “It wasn’t meant to be formal, it’s just a way to pay a beautiful woman a compliment, but alas if you wish to be called only Seren then I will most certainly respect your wishes. I wouldn’t want to lose a friend so soon after meeting.” That was mostly true, so far the people Sid had met on the island he could count on his hands, he didn’t like not knowing or having people to chat to for anything. He held up his hand and shook his head as she mentioned her own hooded jacket. “It’s ok, I usually have a hat to wear but they are not practical when you are at the gym. And I would never dream of taken a ladies jacket when she needs it herself. I can deal with a little rain now and again, I am not entirely made of sugar.” Opening his own gym bag Sid dug around before pulling out something. It was his coat, a short more blazer styled one then a few of the others on the island. Setting the bag down he pulled the coat over his head, leaving just enough to still see. “There problem solved.”

The wink, followed by his saying the bit about paying a beautiful woman a compliment, earned him a surprised blush. She wasn't used to compliments, and it showed. "Ah... Well that is most kind of you. But it is certainly more comfortable for me, so I appreciate it." She reached up, and pulled a lock of hair that had come loose out of her face, a little thoughtful. The pink took a minute to fade from her cheeks. She laughs, and shrugs. "Wasn't planning on wearing my jacket back, honestly. I'm still plenty warm from my workout, so it'll be a nice way to cool down. By the time I get back, I'll be JUST to the point of needing to warm up again... Or at least that's been my experience so far." She looked his jacket over, and then nodded. "Yes, I see why that wouldn't provide much rain cover, unless you use it that way." She held her own up. It was long enough to go down to her mid-thighs, and had a nice hood, so she didn't have to worry about the rain overly much most of the time. "Not sure why they don't give us several styles of these, to be prepared for more kinds of weather then one, but that's me."

He gave her another wide grin, noting the pink that spread on her cheeks, Sid counted it as a success for not entirely losing his charm while he had been holed up in a pod for who knows how long. Maybe the island wasn’t the worse place in the world to be trapped at despite the rain, bugs, exercise, lodging, food, and so on and so forth that Sid had realized he had taken for granted back home. “Ah yea, you mentioned that was your plan, a good one a matter a fact. I need to remember that for next time.” Sid looked up at the edge of his own jacket, and noted that he probably looked a little ridiculous before taking a moment to glance over the one she held up. It looked more like a coat suited to deal with all sorts of weather versus a concern of style and appearance. “Looks like it suits you though, the style it is.”

She smiled a little, and tucked it back under her arm. "It works well for me, and fits well enough over my preferred clothing, so it suits, I suppose." She shrugged, and added "Not like we get a lot of choice. Pity, but there it is. I had no clue when I signed up I would be expected to dress in Paladin colors or something." She gave her head a slow rotation, stretching her neck a little to get any tension out of her muscles. "Care to join me on my walk back?" She asked, a friendly smile on her face, as she reached to open the door to the exit.

Other than not having a hood Sid actually like his jacket, it was at least something he was use to wearing out clubbing and really he was glad it wasn’t something long that he felt like he was wearing something too flowy that caught the wind. “So other than it being practical you really don’t love it? Also...what do you mean by Paladin colors?” Checking the coat around his head he looked outside the door and back at her. “I would love to join… what the plan though are you walking or running?”

She shrugged at his comment about loving it. "It's ok. I'm just... It doesn't fit my general theme?" She sighed, realizing he hadn't seen her in her normal clothes. "I tend to wear a...more starry theme when not working out, so... It doesn't quite fit." She paused at his question, and realized she had just shown what a nerd she was. "Uhhh yeah in the fantasy books I used to read... Paladins were all religious knights, and usually wore white and gold." She gave the white coat with the yellow/gold tone trim an ironic look. "We're not knights, maybe, nor religious but... We go fight horrible things and wear white and gold as our 'uniform', so..." "Either works for me, though walking is more cooling. If you prefer to run, to avoid getting more wet, however, I am not at all averse. Running from here to dorms isn't a big deal."

“Starry?.... Sounds like it’s a pretty cool look… like far out there vibe. Are you an astronomer or do you just really love stars?” It was a terrible joke and Sid new it as he said it but it didn’t seem to stop him nor grinning from it. It faded some though when she mentioned the coat and paladin knights. The last thing he considered himself was a knight, more of a rogue in the terms of pulling dirty stunts and stealing while someone was down. “ Ah… I see...and yea…. I don’t know why they didn’t give us black… I mean if what we do here is dangerous wouldn’t it have been just as easy to hide all the stains in black then trying to keep the white.. Well white.” Offering his free arm to her, he gave her a quick shake of his head trying not to lose his makeshift umbrella hat. “I’m cool with walking, I mean I’m going to get wet either way may as well enjoy it instead of rushing.”

His question triggered a hint of pain/sadness crossing her face, quickly, but she simply said "Unfortunately, I did not get to pursue such a career, despite my wishes, so instead it is both a hobby, and my life's... theme if you will." She tossed her head, a little, to get some of her hair off her face, and also to try to distract herself from the past and her lost dreams "Black would be better, yes. Much easier. But it is what it is." She gave a half shrug, and sighed. "And that's life on the island, so far, as far as I can tell." She pondered his arm for a moment, before deciding to accept, gently linking hers through his. "Mmm thank you. All right. Shall we...?" She opened the door with her free hand, given that his were busy, and nodded towards the wet outdoors.

Sid almost regretted asking her about the star theme, unlike him she must have had dreams and so on before coming to Deus. It was almost selfish sounding that the only reason he had bothered to sign up to deal with this hell hole place was to avoid a prison sentence. “It’s a good theme… and yea… I guess that is life on this island” It was pretty much the only thing he could say about it, he guessed he could lie tell her there was a chance somewhere but what was the point. If there was anything Sid was familiar with it was having impossible dreams and knowing they weren’t ever coming true. “You are welcome, I am ready as I will ever be.” The look of sympathy was wiped off Sid’s face and replaced quickly with a grin as they headed out of the door and into the rain.

"Indeed. This island is... very different from anything I ever thought I'd be doing with my life." She glanced at the sky for a moment, then back at the man she was now walking with. "But then, that seems to be life, too. Never does go the way you wanted it to go." She shook her head, sighing a little, but her smile returned to her face. "At least here, I have free time again, so even if I can't become an astronomer, I can still learn. We have a library, after all." She glanced at him out of the corner of her eyes, wondering about him a little. Finally, she decided to venture what she hoped was a generally harmless question. "Where are you from?"
