When there weren't specific things to do, Luka made a habit of wandering the base so that she could be more acquainted with it all. It was hard, being the new kid on the block but at least she had her sister with her for the ride. The girl couldn't imagine what it would be like for her if she didn't have Lena.

"Hurry up!" She called, pigtails swishing when she glanced behind her, arm extended for her twin to take before she tugged them down the stairs.

They were fortunate enough to live upstairs on the first floor with a not gross but working shower unlike everyone that lived in the basement but...curiosity got the better of her. She'd heard that there were weird things in some of the rooms and she wanted to check them out.

Up ahead she spotted a boy she recognized from the eclipse gathering, his roots looked as bad as she remembered and she winced. "Hey Lena," she said, glancing over her shoulder, "we still have that dye and stuff yeah?"

Exploring wasn't always her favorite thing to do. Sure, she got curious - who didn't get curious - but staying back in their room and reading up on things first seemed like a much safer option than to get one's hands dirty with experience.

At least, that's how Lena felt. But when Lulu wanted to explore, it meant it was time for twin to explore as well.

Like a shadow, Lena always stayed a step or two behind the other girl, spending most of her time shoving her glasses up her nose as her eyes darted around, taking in their surroundings. The dorms looked like normal dorms (or how normal dorms would appear, had she ever any reason to stay in a normal dorm before now) but she too had heard the rumors of the basement and its... questionable state.

At the beckoning, her sneakers picked up their pace to keep up, the quieter of the twins breaking her distraction from the random peeling on the wall. She was so engrossed in trying to keep up that she didn't even spot the other Hunter up ahead of them until Luka turned to ask her a question, eyes catching the silhouette of the boy up ahead.

"We should," she responded diplomatically. At least, it was there the last time she checked - who knew if Lulu had gotten into a creative mood and done away with the rest of it, "Why? What's up?"

He was about ten yards ahead of them, heading back to his room after a day of hopping from one miscellaneous duty to the next. The last, assisting with some of the repair efforts, had left him a little damp, a little dirt flecked, and there was a distinct sage to his shoulders. What he really wanted was a nice hot shower, maybe something to eat, and then he could crawl into bed for the night before having to wake up and do it all again tomorrow.

First though, he'd need to find the key to his room. He was digging around in the pockets of her jacket as he walked, first one, then the other, and that was when he steps began to slow a bit. He tried the first again, and then moved on to the pockets of his jeans.

"Oh no..."

Her lips quirked up into a smirk as her sister answered. "His roots look like they need a touch up," she quipped, folding her arms over her chest as she observed him. It would be easy to approach him and make the offer but...that could be seen as rude too and she didn't want to get off on a wrong foot.

It seemed pretty difficult to not get off on the wrong foot when it came to insulting someone's hair maintenance which this would be.

Pushing her glasses up, Luka took a step forward only to hesitate when she saw him fiddling around with his pockets. Oh, had he --

She remembered seeing something that had been metal on the stairs, or so she thought, and immediately turned to back track and see if it was what she thought it was. Squeezing Lena's shoulder she raised both eyebrows at her sister. "Wait here."

Two seconds later she had hopped up the stairs and found what she was looking for. A key.

Padding back down the stairs she grabbed her sister's hand and tugged her along for the ride.

"Hey, you look like you lost something. Is it this?" She called holding up the key proudly towards the boy.

"Luka, no - wait!" Her twin hissed under her breath as the other girl gave her a command to wait, like she was some kind of lap dog or something. She couldn't just...just leave her with this strange boy!

But she did, the stubborn-headed girl taking off down the hall, leaving Lena to stare at the other Hunter as she shuffled her feet around awkwardly. He didn't seem to notice her - which wasn't a bad thing, really - and she wasn't about to make her presence known, not without her stronger, better half.

One hand rose and four fingers waggled awkwardly (just in case he noticed her) before she dropped her hands back down in front of her, eyes diverting to his shoes. They were pretty okay shoes as far as foot apparel went.

She was good at studying shoes.

A sense of relief washed over her as Luka returned, grabbing her and jerking her forward to the boy with okay but kind of dull roots.

Right on the cusp of panic, Henry looked pretty damn distressed as he turned to address the person that had called out to him, and ended up pausing as he took in the twins, and more importantly, what one of them happened to be holding up. "Oh! Yes, that's probably mine."

A few steps towards them, and his expression had melted into one of deepest gratitude as he held his hands out for the key. It would have been too big a coincidence for there to be more than one lost keys just floating around, right? So the odds were stacked in favor of it being his. "Thank you! Really, I don't know what we're supposed to do if keys go missing, and I wasn't in a hurry to find out."

Hand out for it, he came to a stop in front of the pair of them. "Where was it?" He was going to kick himself if he left it somewhere again...

Luka's grin was bigger than it needed to be in response to Henry's relief, mostly because it meant that he wasn't stressed out anymore and that was a great thing.

"Um, along the stairs," she replied jerking her thumb behind her. "Happened to see it on the way down, didn't think anything of it until we saw you fumbling around." She glanced at her sister, hand moving to press between Lena's shoulder blades and push her forward.

"Does that happen a lot?" She asked, rocking back from her heels to the balls of her feet. "Might wanna maybe get a chain, wear around your neck if it does." They didn't do that, but she'd read it in a book once and she thought it was a neat concept.

At least worth trying if the boy lost it a lot.

"I'm Luka," she introduced herself, hand stuck out for a handshake and everything. "This is Lena."

Luka's twin let out an involuntary squeak as she was suddenly nudged forward, her sister's insisting push sending her a few feet closer to the stranger. Eyes widened as hands automatically flew up to protect her glasses out of habit, the rubber of her sneakers stopping her in her tracks.

"H-Hi, I'm Lena," the quiet voice introduced herself, wincing only moments later as she realized her sister had just done it. Shoot, shoot, shoot.

Um.

"I...I like your shoes."

One hand gestured out towards the boy's tennis shoes as the other began to nervously toy with the pink earpiece of her glasses. "Luka's really good at noticing stuff." She offered, attempting to contribute to the conversation, "I'm glad your key didn't get lost."

"Oh, it must have fallen out of my pocket as I was coming down..." It had him going thoughtful, a hand slipping into the pocket of his coat to check for a hole that wasn't there. "Maybe it caught on my sleeve?" It didn't seem like he was asking the girls specifically, but rather musing to himself in the rhetoric. He shrugged after a moment and focused back on the twins.

"This is the first time, but it might not be a bad idea to get a keychain." If it was attached to something else it'd be easier to keep track of, or so the reasoning went.

As Luka stuck her hand out Henry reached out to take it, not entirely accustomed to handshakes as a form of greeting, but he only hesitated a little bit before offering a firm shake. "It's nice to meet you, both of you." He chuckled as Lena introduced herself a second time, smiling at her. "Thank you for finding my key."

Luka reached for her sister's hand in hopes that it would help ease her nerves. She could feel her sister's stress pressing against her like it was her own and fingers squeezed an equally small hand in reassurance. The smile she offered to Lena when Henry wasn't looking was intended to imply that things would be okay because she wasn't going anywhere.

To Henry the girl nodded. "If it's a one time thing then maybe it's not a big deal." Her handshake was firm, despite noting that maybe it wasn't a common thing here. She had considered leaning in and doing the cheek kiss thing but that seemed like it might be...weirder.

Hrm. They'd have to figure out a good greeting later, once they got the hang of the island and it's inhabitants more. "Yeah, yeah," she nodded and waved her hand like it was no biggie. "Actually..." She paused, lips pursing together to debate how to approach this. "Lele and I were um noticing that you've got some killer roots going on and we've still got all our stuff from when we did our hair and wanted to, I dunno, offer to touch yours up? Unless you're growing it back out and then ignore us."

The other hand slipped into hers and was indeed the reassurance she needed, especially when it came to talking to strangers. Everything made more sense when she was talking to herself - even if she stumbled over her thoughts (or words) in front of her sister it was okay, Luka knew what she meant. But strangers...strangers were scary. They didn't know her, she didn't know them and who knew what either was really thinking when they said what they said?

Shaking her head, she banished the worrisome thoughts and forced out a giggle as her sister finished speaking.

"No, don't ignore us - I don't like that idea. Roots or no roots, Luka needs new friends that aren't me." Lena made a point to visibly (and playfully) jab two fingers into her twin's side. It was ironic at best, seeing as without Luka's help that Lena would hardly know a soul outside of her family tree. "And you look like you know a thing or two about style. We like that in friends."

Turning to Luka, she nudged her shoulder. "Right? We have good eyes when it comes to good color."

Sudden and unexpected kisses to Henry's cheeks would have resulted in a lot of blushing and stammering and quite possibly a hurried escape into his room. He liked girls, and in theory their attention, but he had no experience with girls. Or anyone for that matter. He'd been a bit of a gamer nerd before arriving here, heavily dependent upon his sister. He hadn't quite gotten the hang of things on his own, yet.

He would still blush though, as Luka pointed out the horrible state of his over grown roots, and a hand came up quickly to slap down on top of them, hiding the worst of it from view. For what good it did him. "Uh." His shoulders hunched.

And then relaxed a bit, as he realized they were offering help, rather than poking fun at him. It had his hand slipping down, head tilting gently to one side as baby blues flicked up from identical faces to their equally identical hair. "Er, if you wouldn't mind?" He felt odd asking for help with it, but they'd offered, so that was different, right? "My sister used to do it for me, but she's not here."

The blush was fading, and the smile was starting to come back again. "Your hair looks really awesome."

Almost immediately Luka realized that she'd potentially embarrassed him. Oh shoot, she hadn't meant to be rude she just wanted to help!

Lena however was busy insisting that she needed friends. "Um, Lele's being a butthead. We both need some good friends and if we can help you, I'd like to." She had the decency to look down and toe at the ground like she was embarrassed at least.

Henry was accepting and Luka lit up like a christmas tree of delight. Had her hand not been holding her sisters she would have clapped when she squealed in delight. "Yay, yay, yay!" Her free hand reached for his and she nudged her sister with her elbow. "We do it together, but we'll help you. We can always help you from now on if you want."

That was how people made friends now right?

"Thanks! We only have these colors right now, if that's okay. But later, when we get some leave we can get new stuff?"

Lena preened at the compliment, clearly pleased at being called awesome by someone they'd just met. It wasn't a word she typically used to describe herself, so it was a pleasant surprise to hear.

One hand moved up to twirl a loose strand of hair, the color twisting around her index finger as she stared at him. His roots really weren't that bad, but she was pretty sure Luka could make them look even better. And, once she was finished, Lena could style it and help their new friend show off his new look.

"... we'll buy whatever color you'd like, once we take leave." She chimed in, trying to sound helpful. Their colors were pretty limiting, but that didn't mean the girls weren't willing to splurge and go out of their usual trends! "As long as they look good together, of course."

It was a kindness coming at him all at once, and quite frankly, Henry wasn't well equipped to handle it. The blush that ad been fading away roared back to life, and the Mist could feel the radiating warmth along his neck and cheeks. It left him fidgeting on the spot, pleased at the offers, their excitement, but also wishing the floor would open up and swallow him whole.

It was a good thing Luka took charge, grabbing his so she could drag both him and Lena along the hall down to their room. He'd been at a loss, and nearly tripping, but managed to pull himself together as they walked.

"Um, You guys don't have to buy it, I can. Or at least give you money." That, at the very least. It wasn't that he didn't appreciate the offer, but he could pay for his own.

"The blues really nice, and that teal color." Baby blues flicked to the twin's and their multicolored hair. "Could you do something with that?"
