Illuminata, despite all of her accomplishments in her work and as a mother, was not a vain Nan. That wasn't to say she wasn't proud, for she definitely was, but that never stopped her from walking through the the various Districts on a search for scales. She had a pack on her back that had two bags sewn onto either side of her and knew to distribute the scales she found evenly between the two packs, lest she lose her balance and topple over.

It was a routine that she did every couple of days, because you could never predict when someone was going to shed a few scales and the variety of colors that she had seen were something to behold. Scales were one of the most important parts of her work, on account of them being a direct line to the Light Tribe as far as connections went.

Some days, she was able to bring one of her sons or daughters with her, sometimes even Ecthelion, if they wanted to be nostalgic about how they had first met, but today she was alone. Her mate and children were busy with their own lives and it was refreshing to be independent, even if she missed having someone to talk to.

As usual, her eyes were fixed on the ground while she walked, yet as what she believed was becoming more than unfortunate coincidence, one of her paws snagged on a tree root and she stumbled forward. By some miracle she was able to catch her this time and only minimal loss came of it, in the form of a few scales flying out of her bags.

"Oh dear!" She cried and hurried to pick them up. These were very precious to her after all, she wasn't inclined to lose any of them.

It had been another peaceful morning in the light tribe, and Desperoux started his daily stroll in patrolling the city for any new scales his careful and meek eyes might find. Strangely today, the pickings had been a little slim. Perhaps the Scale Connoisseur had his moons and suns off, which would be strange considering how tediously he kept track of scale shedding. For someb'alam that didn't know the art of collecting and appraising scales, it might be a little strange to know such a thing. The thought of another collecting the light scales did cross the Magus' mind, but to see something as of late was...odd. not a lot of other b'alam had a dedicated interest in finding sheddings. Sure it happened from time to time, as of now-it wasn't against the law and the Tah never thought it would. However, it was hard to put to rest the thought of another collecting scales aside from him. There should just be more, then he had gathered to day...
-/
"Perhaps, I should make some sort of exchange system..." The Magus mumbled to himself as he looked from his thoughts and from the walkway. His gentle yellow gaze rose the sight of the large Crystal tree that was the main marker of the light tribe Capital. A mustered color ear turned back as he realized he had wondered all the way back to the Prism district.

Delacroix, a yellow colored bolf that had been give to him by Lord Gaberial let out a bark. With a hop off of Desperoux's back, the creature flapped his wings and glided over to a nearby Nantil. Landing in font of her, the bolf quickly nabbed up one of the scales that had flown free from her bag.

"Delacroix!" The soft yet firm call from from Desperoux as he trotted over to the bolf and Nan.

The Bolf turned a ear back, and kept the scale in his maw as he looked to the Nan. Raising on his hind legs his front paws remained free as he looked about the ground at the shinning scales that had yet to be gathered up. There was a non-threatening and curious flare of his nostrils as his sharp gaze looked up to the Nan, shimmering scale in maw.

"Oh, Hello!" Desperoux spoke as he looked to the nan, stopping in front of her and behind his friend. His careful and kind gaze noticed her ripped bag. His gaze dropped to the remaining scales. His eyes seemed to sparkle with excitement as he looked to the few stragglers.

"Here, let me help you." The Magus added in a slightly hurried sentence, as if the scales themselves would come to life and scurry away.

Desperoux's thoughts picked up a spare leather bag he had yet to fill with scales, and drifted it closer to the ground. The pouch opened and quickly the few missed scales were gathered up into it. The scale collector, didn't pause to look at the scales he scooped up, that would have been rude-and the Nan had ever right to have collected them. It did however, answer a few questions for the meek Tah.

Des' burnt golden tail shifted behind him as he raised the bag for the Nantil to take, he also offered an apologetic smile.

"Light Shine with in you, Nantil. I am sorry. I hope Delacroix didn't startle you." The Tah spoke, his words gentle and kind. He new the bolf was strange to some B'alam's eyes-as he wasn't a native to the light tribe, but something that came from the dark-tribe caves.

The small bolf stretched out his neck and turned his head to show the Nan the scale he had in his maw. As if to show her something he thought was important to see....

He had a scale, and found it.

Illuminata managed to gain her footing and hoist herself up, only to find with some dismay that her bag had ripped and several scales she had collected had spilled out onto the ground. Concentrating, she managed to float a few of the scales up and back into her bag, but it was clear that with the hole, that she would no longer be able to carry them. To leave so many of the scales she had collected laying in a pile, it seemed sure that someone would become curious and think to scoop some of them up, which she just couldn't have...

A sudden bark caused her to look up in surprise as a flying creature the likes of which she had never seen before swooped close to her and snatched up one of her scales! Her mouth dropped open in surprise, but she did not move to get it back. After all, she had no idea if this creature was friendly... or something else entirely. Oh, how she wished she had taken her precious Ecthelion with her today!

Soon another b'alam approached her. This one a Tah, but just as unique to her as the creature that had flown close. She had to look up at him and she felt very small by comparison, considering she was already of a smaller stature than some Nantils she had met. The Tah before her was a Magus. Glancing between the strange creature and the Magus, she was able to come to the conclusion that they were companions. She blinked her understanding and was finally able to come up with a reply after a few moments.

"Th-Thank you." She was embarrassed by her stuttering voice, but she managed a grateful smile to the much larger Tah as he passed the bag to her. "Delacroix?" She looked to the other creature with a shy smile. "Well, I must admit I've never seen such a creature before, but..." As the creature turned to Illuminata to show her the scale he'd snatched, she smiled. "They're rather cute." She finished.

Turning back to the Magus, she lifted her gaze to his.
"My name is Illuminata. Thank you again for helping me." She flicked her ears a bit, recalling how quickly he had come to her aid. "Is there anything I might help you with, in return?" She looked between the creature and the Magus. "...If you two like scales, I'd be happy to take you back to my workshop in the Amber District and make you something out of them. That's what I do, I'm an artist and, well," She waved her tail close to the bags upon her back. "These are my usual medium, since no one else seems to really be using them and since they're so lovely and diverse with their colors..." She gave a happy sigh, closing her eyes for a moment to prevent her from rambling on about the difference in scales she had found over the years. When her eyes opened, she fixed them on the Magus. "Would you like that?" She asked, hopeful.

Desperoux smiled gently as the Nan took the replacement bag from him. The Scale collector had a few extra bags on him always, which it looked like today he would not be needing them.

Delacroix, the strange create's ears flicked forward as his name was repeated by the Nan, a little 'woof' left the bolf past the scale that lingered in his bat like maw.

"Delacroix, don't be rude. That's her's give it back..." The magus gently commanded his friend, giving a weak smile. "Sorry, he likes picking up scales just like you and I." The Connoisseur smiled, his magic gently and invisibly coxed the bolf forward.

Delacroix dolf like paws carefully shifted him forward as leathery wings wobbled as his forward paws moved closer to the nan with a step. Slowly, his head stretched out his neck and he carefully offered the scale to the nan.

"Yes, and he is quiet friendly." Desperoux smiled brighty as his friend was complimented, it was a rare moment where the yellow tah's maw almost showed his teeth in glee. The only slightly larger tah really appreciated beauty, and was happy that his little friend was at least considered such. Mustered colored tail shifted in a meek tick, and whiskers twitched a little as Illuminata introduced herself and better yet offered to show him her collected scales.

Though the scale connoisseur of the light tribe, Desperoux didn't at all mind that he wasn't recognized by this Nan. He after all was a lot smaller in size compared to the Senpi's that rule their wonderful village. That, and well he wasn't anything too special and had been gone for a lot of the time and only just returned from the Dark tribe.

He did have an Idea, however....and was hoping to find the right scales to use them. So, naturally he was enthused when he was invited to see what scales have been collected while he was gone.

Big ears twitched and listened carefully past teal colored hair as Illuminata spoke of her skills and told of her collection. The scale collector couldn't help but feel a bit excited and impressed that another took such an interested in scales. to use them in jewelry? He had seen a few unique pieces in their sister dark tribe, and senpi even gave him some of his own -precious- crystals to hang on his grown horn, making it that less ugly.

"Are you sure? I would not want to intrude." Desperoux smiled weekly knowing in the past, he would have easily tripped over such words.

He paused....Taking in a slow breath, he thought on what Senpi Siraj would tell him.

" I mean, That is to say-I would love to see what you have collect." The magus smiled more brightly, past long bangs. Long tail twitched slightly. As he realized he had yet to introduce himself....

Would it be weird to throw his name out there so suddenly? She didn't ask for it...Yet, It was rude for him not to offer it, specifically when she gave him her's.

"I-I'm Depseroux." The Tah added with a slightly more nervous smile.

"I like to collect scales too." He added, not to let his name hang awkwardly in the air. "Some call me a connoisseur of them, even." he passed a weak chuckle, finding the title a bit too flattering. But it was the only one thing he was good at....

Like the only thing....almost as if he had been woven to do it.

Illuminata had watched Delacroix approach her and and offer her the scale. She smiled down at him and gently took it from him.

"Why thank you, Delacroix." She told the Tah's little friend with a kindly tone. She added it to the rest of her scales in the bag. "We'll see if we can't find something you like more back at my workshop." She told the creature, before looking back at the Tah. "Assuming you're coming with me, of course. I didn't mean to imply that you'd already chosen..." She flicked her ears nervously and then smiled at the larger Tah.

She smiled when he asked if he was sure and was opening her maw to say that, indeed, it was no problem at all, when he went on and accepted her offer.

"Wonderful!" She exclaimed, immensely pleased with his choice and she turned towards the path she would take that would lead into the Amber District and by extension, to her home. When he introduced himself as they set off, she nodded. "Well, it's a pleasure to meetyou Desperoux." She told him with a bright smile.

"I'm always happy to meet another b'alam that enjoy scales as much as I do. It's become my entire family's profession, well, more or less. I'm happy to say that two of my sons, Florizel and Lucent have taken an interest in scales. I doubt Florizel will be in my workshop when we get there. He comes by often, but rarely unannounced. He works in the Amethyst district. He is a merchant, or a trader... I don't know which title he prefers these days, silly me." She laughed, pausing only to breathe.

"Anyway, he has a discerning eye when it comes to quality and Weaver bless his heart, for he always keeps me updated on items coming in from other tribes. I've often had the notion that I will one day make a medallion, but instead of a necklace it would me more like something you could put up and hang on a surface...I still have yet to work out the entire idea, but it would be something that combined elements from all of the tribes we b'alam come from, with a b'alam's home tribe as the center of the medallion and the others around it. When I was younger, I had the idea that if I gathered enough materials from other tribes, that I could make one for each of the tribes as a gift for their Magi, but... I don't know if such a dream is achievable these days."

Her tail flicked and she lowered her ears in embarrassment. "Oh, listen to me, rambling on about dreams and the like. I understand that a humble artist like me may not get to dream of such things, but... It's nice to think about and my family supports me in my craft. That's more than I could ask for; I don't need the Magi's approval of my craft when I have my family's." She said with a smile and perked her ears.

"But that's more than enough about me, I'd say. Even more than you may have ever asked for. Do pardon me, Desperoux, it's often remarked by my children that I have a tendency to go on. I hope you do not mind too terribly." She inclined her head politely towards him. "But please, tell me of yourself. It is such an excitement to meet a like-minded b'alam. Or perhaps you could tell me how you came by the company of your friend?" She inquired, glancing at Delacroix with a friendly smile.

Delacroxi let the scale go, and hopped to be beside Desperoux. With a flap of his wings he perched on the magus' large horn.

Depseroux listened to Illuminata carefully as she went on about her dreams and ambitions. The larger yellow tah, admittedly was a bit impressed. To hear that her whole family had a hand in the craft, and even merchants were involved. Which would be helpful for Hook and the Darktribe, Desi did speak to offer a solidified trade between them. It was good to here that there were like mind b'alam of the light tribe wanting to achieve the same things. Siraj really was amazing, and so was Lluminata and her family.

Large ears perked past teal long lochs as he followed Lluminata to her workshop.

"Thank you, it is nice to meet you as well." The Magus smile, and nodded subtly-careful to not jostle his friend that perched on his horn.

"Oh, there isn't too much special about me. I just like collecting scales. " The Scale connoisseur was sincere with his words. "Your passion however, it what is really special and to have your family share it." Desperoux smiled looking ahead and at the village, happy to see how it had grown in his absents.

"That is really amazing." He smiled and then looked up passed his bangs up to Delacroxi as the spunky and daring bolf was spoken about. He long thick tail shifted in a meek sway behind him.

As Lluminata's eyes were placed on Delacroxi, his next turned as if to show himself more off.

"Oh? Delacroxi?" Desperoux smiled. "He was a gift from Tah Lord Gabriel."
