Although this had been one of the nicer ways to spend his days, Tom still wasn't sure about this. Jason had somehow managed to talk him into going to a local animal shelter and possibly adopting a cat for him, but Tom would keep it in his apartment since he had no plans on leaving town and moving back as of yet, and their two cats currently at home were considered "Tom's", or to be more accurate, Tom was their main "slave".

And so, with Tom's cured insomnia and finally wanting to bond with his brother a bit more, they had walked to the local shelter to look at all of the kitties. Jason was practically bouncing with excitement as his brother followed behind him, smiling a bit as his little brother kept babbling on about "his" new cat.

"You know Jason, we may not even take it home today. And if you're really wanting to go through with this AND have it be YOUR cat, then you need to come over more often to take care of it." Tom said, trying to talk some sense into the blonde. After all, he didn't want this cat bonding to him more and his brother being disappointed that yet another cat had preferred the eldest brother. Not that Bones and Persia hated Jason or anything, but there was a preference as to whom they bothered more.

Jason nodded to his brother. "Yeah I know! Though I may not even get one! I just want to look! I would totally keep it at my dorm if they were allowed, but unfortunately we aren't allowed stuff like pets." He pouted a bit. It would be perfect if they were, after all Tom would give him the money needed for any possible vet bills if Jason needed it. Jason quickly wondered if he could make a cat his official therapy pet. However, that thought was quickly interrupted when they had finally made it to the door of the shelter and stepped in, Jason first with Tom following.

Jason almost yelled 'We're here to see kitties!' but managed to contain his excitement as he waited for his brother to finish going through the doors, before turning his attention back to the girl that had greeted him. "Yeah, we were thinking about adopting a cat. So we just wanted to look around..." Jason said, as his older brother raised a brow, as if Jason had already decided they were going to bring a cat home no matter what today.

Tom sighed a bit but smiled, glad to see his brother acting like himself again, before addressing the girl. "That's Jason and I'm Tom. We're looking for... well any cat really. Since it's going to be my brother's-" He gave a pointed look at his younger sibling, "he's the one taking care of it. He's taken care of cats before, but could probably use a refresher on basic cat care." He replied. Although his brother had helped with their two cats, he hadn't been solely in charge of them, and knew that his brother may be a bit too excited to think about what they really needed.

Jason smiled brightly. "That sounds great! And uh... I don't really have a preference on gender, though I might be leaning toward a female more." When it came to Tom's two cats at their parent's house, their female had been the more cuddly and loveable one, though Jason knew that not all cats were like that, and he couldn't exactly count on gender, but at least they wouldn't have a possible... spraying problem.

Tom smiled at rolled his eyes at his brother. Now the kid's nervous. But out loud he said, "Although my brother won't say it, he does have a preference for medium to long-haired cats, though if you are low on those, he does consider personality first to fur-length." Jason blushed a bit, feeling as though he was being mean to the kitties because of the preference, but if there was a short-haired cat that was just as loveable, then he wouldn't mind!

When they followed Sunny through the door, both brother's couldn't help but look all around at the cats that were available. Tom himself got distracted by a few of them, but Jason followed Sunny and awwed just about every time she introduced another cat. Eventually Tom caught up with them, but Jason had a look on his face that seemed like he was troubled about something and couldn't make a decision. Tom shook his head.

Jason thought for a moment. "Well... even though the cat I get is going to live with my brother, he also has a busy schedule with school and stuff, so perhaps Lacroix wouldn't do too well if she were left alone a lot..." But the other two seemed to be the type of kitties that he would want. Especially Bluejeans. A lazy cat that would take over your lap if it was available was all right with Jason!

"Could I pet Hilda possibly? I can't pass up the chance to be able to pet a Persian or Persian mix for a bit." Tom asked, looking at the kitty. It made him miss his own kitty, but that's what happened when he decided not to make the journey with him. Perhaps when he was in grad school he might be able to take them? Though they wouldn't get as much attention...

Jason thought about it a bit more. "Bluejeans sounds like the best option so far. I know Tom has his two cat's, but I know I won't have as busy of a schedule compared to his when I go to college, so I might end up getting his kitties if someone needs to watch over them a bit more. And I am fine with a lazy cat! One that is too hyperactive might drain me a bit." He said, laughing a little. "May I see him for a bit?"

Tom laughed as Jason pouted while he went to go and pet Hilda for a bit, though a "bit" might turn into twenty or so minutes depending on how much petting Hilda wanted. After all, humans were only slaves to their kitty masters!

Jason watched Tom go into the room before sighing and turning back to Sunny. "Thanks so much for helping us with this. I know my brother is acting like I'm not really going to care for the kitty but he's kidding. I had to start taking care of his cats once he left for college, so I know how to take care of them at least. But Bluejeans sounds perfect. The school I'm going to right now is a lot harder than my previous one and while I like it, it's still really stressful so I'm hoping a cat will partially help with that." He was babbling at this point, but he knew there would only be some awkward silence to follow while he waited for his brother to be done. He looked over at Bluejeans cage again and managed to squash the impulse of pressing his face against it.

Jason relaxed, glad that Sunny didn't think he was going to abandon the kitty. Well, even if he got too busy, somehow Tom always managed to take time for cats. The only reason He couldn't for his was he didn't want to stress them moving out. But from the way Tom had been talking, his cats would probably be shipped over shortly.

"Great, thank you!" He said, truly meaning it. He would be very happy with his own kitty, well hopefully his own kitty. Who knew, the cat just might choose to like a cat tree more than either of them, but that's just how cats were!
